Basically Xbox S is for 720p/1080p and the Scorpio is for 4K so basically they want to turn consoles into pc's now.

for those of you that don't understand teraflops, the scorpio will be 8% slower than the GTX 1070
Yes. The same way Playstation Neo is gonna run the same games as PS4, but Neo with better quality.
ah alright. thanks for clearing that up, was really confused about that bit :v:
Whats the 'HDR' thing they are flogging with the S? Isn't the xbone already hd compatible, or is this different? I think now is the best time for me to drop out of the console eco system too, I'll be using the money for my PC if they are doing this incremental console shit.
More than that, and if it is then its a good bargain. But their isn't a single GPU out their that can game at 4k 60fps on PC, not even the new ones.
If I lower the settings slightly I can absolutely get 4K60fps on a single 980Ti, which is 5.6TF compared to the Xbox's claimed 6. Consoles always have lower graphics than PC versions so scaling effects down to run at 4K60 isn't too crazy. If the game is a crazily well optimised one like Forza Apex I can get 4K60fps at max settings even with AA on. Definitely seems possible to me.

250 GBP is 350 USD
...High end graphics cards have trouble pulling off stable 60fps at 4k, this thing is going to cost a ludicrous amount
To be fair, it's always been easier to get more power out of relatively underpowered hardware with consoles. A console equivalent to a 970GTX would be a MONSTER.
...High end graphics cards have trouble pulling off stable 60fps at 4k, this thing is going to cost a ludicrous amount
Did you miss the part where I said "graphics optimized for said framerate and resolution"? It could work with any GPU released in the past 6 years, really. Heck, even the PS3 could render 4K.
What Xbox One S did with 4K streaming for videos and adding HDR for games is realistic, PS4 magically being able to render games at 4K @ 30 or 60 FPS is not possible without it costed more then the existing PS4 which is suicide.

You can't magically optimize a current gen game to run on a PS3, same way you can't optimize a 4K game to a point where it could run on a lot of existing hardware easily.

Its do with colours
...High end graphics cards have trouble pulling off stable 60fps at 4k, this thing is going to cost a ludicrous amount
PC games have to be optimised for hundreds of set-ups. Console games have to optimise for one. Its a lot easier to optimise a game for 60FPS at 4K when you can focus on 1 set-up.
Like...Half-Life 3 caliber.
Let's not go overboard here. They don't need something that insane. They need to show the games they've got lined up, including Last Guardian, and maybe reveal a new one. Realistically speaking there is no way they're going to match crossplat play, because how could they? They've already confirmed their new console, and the Xbone S is not that exciting (especially because you've got Scorpio in the tubes, kind of took the wind out of those sails). Not saying Sony isn't under some 'pressure', but they don't need to announce a Steam merger to meet Microsoft.
Did Microsoft mention hololens ? or is it dead?

PCGamer show starting boys.
Hey the PC game show actually has new stuff :v:

You just reduce graphical effects until it runs well enough. There is no magical hard limit preventing even current HW from rendering at these resolutions and framerates.
PC Gaming Show terribly desynced atm
Did Microsoft mention hololens ? or is it dead?
It's just not a gaming thing I guess, they've been showing it off at keynotes and shit like that.
Dishonored 2 confirmed to have a no powers mode. Sweet
Of course you can, it's not magic. You just reduce graphical effects until it runs well enough. I still don't know what to think about the whole concept of "upgraded consoles", to be honest
I can't magic up a game to run at 4k through 'optimizations', it's incredibly taxing and means that you'd have to sacrifice a shit ton of quality to get a good framerate out of it.
Good job contradicting yourself. "You can't optimize the game, you'd have to optimize the game!"
for those of you that don't understand teraflops, the scorpio will be 8% slower than the GTX 1070
announced ten minutes ago and it's already out of date
MEMES
Yeah and then you get a game that looks like a 360 game and that doesn't even count.
Of course it counts lol. What are you even on about? Do you mean to imply that it's no longer a video game? Because we're talking about running video games at a specific resolution and framerate.
4k@60 for $500. Bullshit alert
XBone S is 300$ in the US, now watch it being sold for 400 euro in Europe
You think that's bad? Watch it be +R$2500 here even with the scorpio just being announced
