FYI those are steam numbers, not including uplay where it was cheaper by around 10-15%.
Also a lot of players did leave due to the cheater plague. Hopefully some of the playerbase does come back after the recent policy change where cheaters are permabanned instantly.

I only watch them in the hopes of them being fucking terrible. I'm rarely disappointed.

Honestly, E3 is great for watching both the best moments and the worst- the only times where it's bad is when it's truly mediocre, and E3 wishes it could be that middle of the road.
The live cringe is the main reason why E3 is worth watching
This year I've received a budget to hold a local (Israeli) panel about the e3. Excited as fuck!

I like E3 because I like to see what AAA has to offer or tell more about. I like knowing more about games. Only the ones I care about though. I'll be watching on day 1 for Battlefield 1 and Dishonored 2. And the next day for for Sony and Microsoft's, unless PCGaming somehow has something :v:.
And then that'll be that since I don't care for Nintendo these days,
