Not like they have anything else to show. Nope not at all not like they have a console FUCKING COMING OUT NEXT WINTER.
Nintendo not showing much outside of Zelda at E3 is stupid but come now they can use a Nintendo Direct to discuss the NX, and those aren't limited to being in June.
Not like they have anything else to show. Nope not at all not like they have a console FUCKING COMING OUT NEXT WINTER.
First off, it's coming midspring (plenty of time to make an exciting event before then), and second, I doubt they want to fight against the PS4K and XB1.5 news, especially since rumors point to the NX not being the most powerful system. Even if they were to do a direct about the upcoming Wii U and 3DS games, it would probably get buried underneath all the other game news coming out that week- remember last year, when their mediocre conference was deemed very shitty because of the Sony and Microsoft news the day before? It'd be the same thing, but even worse due to fewer games!
All and all, Nintendo pulling out of E3 is a smart move for them this year- we'll see what sticks in the next.
All and all, Nintendo pulling out of E3 is a smart move for them this year
Huhuhuh, you said pulling out.
Why is it that these companies have been doing E3 presentations for years and never seem to know what to do? Is it because all the games they show are in development and uncertain as to whether they'll be ready to be presented?
They also have like five other major releases they aren't even covering, one of which comes out two weeks later, and Atlus painstakingly edited for the English WiiU release for them. Yet Nintendo is not showing off the game at all, hell, most people probably have not even heard of FE#, but Nintendo doesn't even bother to advertise it at E3, alongside the new Paper Mario... SMT:Final, Freedom Force, Robobot etc.
I hope the cringe this year comes from them pulling stupid stunts, not the devs having stage fright
I think the chances are super high that someone will finally have a complete mental breakdown on stage

Because last year when they tried showing off the games coming out this year, people shat on them because "Sony showed us all these games and Nintendo gave us SHIT." I would not be surprised that an Iwata-less Nintendo didn't think it was worth it to do that whole business again. At least now people will go "At least Nintendo brought Zelda" instead of comparing it to other presentations.
Not really the gamers fault Nintendo had a poor showing last year, that's on them.
And comparison between the different companies is inevitable at e3. And when you have the competition presenting killer apps for their consoles and Nintendo presenting a whole lot of nothing (I genuinely can't remember what they announced, I think skylander bowser amiibo?) You can guess why people would be a little disappointed.

To play Devil's Advocate on the FE# thing, that game is so niche that the people who are interested in it probably already know about it by now. It doesn't exactly have widespread appeal.

Regardless of how you feel about Nintendo withdrawing from E3, 90 minutes is a fuckton of time to showcase a game. Hopefully this shows that they're confident!
that's enough for like two dungeons in ocarina of time, geez
I'm thinking Sony will drop a teaser for KojiPro's new game or show a production video/interview. Even if there's nothing concrete to display they'll want to flaunt the name and raise a few eyebrows.
I'm rather curious about what Deep Silver's "major announcement" will be at E3. I would really love to see a new Metro game or even a Saints Row game(as long as it's like SR2).
If I was a betting man my money would be on the console port for APB:Reloaded that Deep Silver and G1 had been working on for about a year or two.
Oh and I can't wait for MS to announce the new Xbox One so that all my friends can make fun of me for getting one last summer.
that's enough for like two dungeons in ocarina of time, geez
They should honestly just show the first 90 minutes of the game.
Have to admit, this is the first E3 I haven't been excited about since I've started following it.
Microsoft's doing great with their other hardware at the moment, but the Xbox division is in a holding pattern. Are we pulling out of the console race? Xbox One.5? Or are we just gonna ride out Gen8 until consumers are ready for new consoles? I wouldn't worry about them due to how well Win10 is doing, but I'm not expecting anything too exciting either. They're just... there. They're not gonna shake things up, but at the same time they've admitted they're comfortable with where they are at the moment, so maybe that'll do for now and it'll just be business as usual.
Sony seems like they still don't have any idea how they'll turn the hype wave they're riding into something tangible. They know how to stir up the audience, whether it's playing the hero against the disastrous Xbone reveal back in 2013 or last year's "Holy Grail" conference that turned out to be a bunch of smoke-and-mirrors (Shenmue 3's just a Kickstarter, fans finally got FF7R only to learn it's being chopped up into pieces and possibly mangled in the process, they've been "resurrecting" Last Guardian every few years since early PS3 only to mothball it again each time), but they're edging awfully close to "put up or shut up" territory. Especially with the PS4 NEO possibly on its way, risking alienation of a lot of people who bought the original model and got... fairly little from it. And Vita? *laughs*
Nintendo I just feel sorry for. The entire company has been acting like it's been lobotomized ever since Iwata died, stumbling around and slapping its IP on random things instead of doing much game-wise. 3DS is in an okay spot with Pokémon Sun & Moon on the way, but with how thoroughly they've hung the Wii U out to dry - especially now that it's been confirmed that Zelda U is going to NX as well - and rather low confidence in NX itself, I worry for them. Splatoon and Xenoblade X did heartwarmingly well, but pretty much every major Wii U game they've put out from late 2015 to early 2016 has been a dud or otherwise polarizing, and no one else aside from a scant few indies even considers the system nowadays. I seriously doubt that this attempt to cut their losses and move to NX as soon as possible is the move they should make, either.
Valve is worthless nowadays. I'd keep a cautious eye on EA, only because they've been making some decent moves lately and I hope it continues. Activision-Blizzard isn't looking too exciting outside of Overwatch (CoD certainly isn't shining at the moment), but that'll hold them for a while. Ubisoft is still fiddling about with their annual iteration of "The Ubisoft Open-World Game", but otherwise I don't expect much from them either. Square-Enix will do the usual wheeling out of perennial carrots-on-a-stick KH3 and FF[del]Vs13[/del]15, only now they have FF7R to add to that list. SEGA's worth keeping an eye on, if only to see what the new Sonic game is and because we have Persona 5 coming up. Konami... I'll let Mr. Sterling handle them.
And as for what the players want? Well, that seems to be VR, eSports, and more Souls games. Which, if I'm honest: yawn.
They should honestly just show the first 90 minutes of the game.
Well it's an open world Zelda game, and we have no idea what that means for the game design yet since they've been so tightlipped about it all. It could mean there's lots of quests to do this time, I wouldn't mind some Witcher 3 inspiration in there, but it could also mean there's just a lot of land to explore between dungeons. Just as well, how integrated the dungeons with the world or how large and complex they may be are a complete mystery too. They could show us the beginning or many other things, but it sounds like it's going to be a lot either way.

Kotaku, I know, but it's the best source I can find.

Basically, Nintendo this year will just be Zelda.
Maybe a bit of Paper Mario and Pokemon, but mostly Zelda unless they have something else up their sleeve to justify the 90 minutes.
I'll bet that its a handheld.
If anything I doubt it would be a new handheld, we already got the "new" 3DS.
I just want Forza Horizon 3 and Civ VI, anything else is a nice bonus
Battlefield 1 at EA Play is going to be enough for me already, I'm hoping that there's some cool new announcements as well to tie it all together.
If whatever XB1 thing is cheapish, I'll probably pick one up. Are they still allowing you to turn your XB1 into a dev kit?

Yes.

I am very curious what they will do with Wolfenstein the New Order 2, especially since DOOM is raising the bar for FPS at the moment.
Sorry if this has been answered before but will we have a Facepunch chat this year too (either in Discord or Steam or something?). Because watching the stream while chatting is probably the most fun thing about E3 imo
[editline]28th May 2016[/editline]
Oh there's a permanent E3 group so probably yes, good
Watching E3 3am in the morning can get really lonely, especially when your mates aren't dedicated enough to switch up their sleep schedule for a few days.
In the last two years of running the steam group, we have had people in the Steam Chat while E3 is on.
So if you want to be lonely with other people, come to the FP E3 group.
I can also add an E3 channel to my mumble server if you guys are interested

I don't think that e3 could be worth not getting sleep over. Just watch the abridged cuts that are usually on youtube the day later.

But but but.. the buildups, the hype, the chat, the hashtags, the cringe!
Also important that I get to be first few to register (in Asia) for whatever beta EA usually announces.
really hoping for ubisoft to announce watch dogs 2 and not fuck it up because i really, really loved watch dogs 1.

If they want this to be the new Assassins Creed then the next two Watch Dogs games will be dope, but the series will start to feel stale after Watch Dogs: Revelations.
Does anyone think Bethesda might announce or hint at the new Wolfenstein that Anya's voice actress leaked somewhat recently?
