I assume you already figured out, but I feel like running my mouth here for a second.
I only just learnt that this secret objective was a thing. This is something we tried before, but even back then I thought it wasn't communicated well with players. When I heard the nuke was destroyed, I assumed it was someone who fucked up, which happens a lot, so for example I didn't assume in our previous mission that Holt had any secret objectives in our previous mission where he was flying like a drunk man. For all I knew, it could have been Zeus fuckery with the nuke, not necessarily someone's fault though.
We simply had no reason to doubt any of Delta's actions. If you don't trust your fellow comrade then how can you expect to work together efficiently? I don't know if their recon availability was genuinely on and off because of actual problems, or if because they were focusing on destroying the nuke, but we kinda passed it off as "eh, yeah SuicideZ wouldn't surprise me if he couldn't handle a UAV properly".
Not to mention that I didn't notice any kind of gameplay impact. It seemed like it didn't matter wether we had the nuke intact or not. We still had a strategically important location to secure, and the russians didn't want the place any less than before. No mission failure, no scolding, nothing. Delta were still happy to help us defend despite probably not having any further reason to stick around other than "I came to play arma so I wanna shoot stuff".
Sorry Holt and SuicideZ for slagging you off a little but this is what happens when you build a reputation for yourselves. Anyways, mission was fun.
Holt wasn't actually playing in the mission
We did destroy the nuke with our initial foray into the airfield before Kurdish forces actually arrived, however, Tomoe and SuicideZ went back with more explosives to make sure the Nuke was destroyed, which brought down the hangar and some Kurds.
We provided intel coverage with our Darter after completing our initial objective, however, SuicideZ still finds a way to make the mission go wrong in some way or another, and he managed to wipe out myself and the Darter with a hawk missile launched a little too low. However, we managed to acquire another Darter, and we provided intel whilst the counterattack was ongoing. However, what I believe was a BTR-90 lit up most of Delta whilst we were fighting from the ATC, and Uncouth was dropped by infantry landed by helicopter, leading to lack of coverage for a while. After we respawned, we continued to provide intel coverage until the end of the mission.
Good op, DELTA managed to complete their sneaky mission and blew up the nuke before the Kurds got there.
lol what
[editline]7th December 2015[/editline]
not like it mattered, bravo was there first and just assumed that the nuke was supposed to look rusty

In the armaverse, rusty equals destroyed
But yeah, we blew it up
then the entire hangar and helicopters blew up and i assumed some idiot put mines near the helicopters
[editline]7th December 2015[/editline]
seems to me like that sneaky mission was essentially useless
[editline]7th December 2015[/editline]
someone almost got kicked and banned for that so let's try to steer clear from those objectives outside tvt?
Holt wasn't actually playing in the mission
I wasn't implying that. What I was trying to say is that chopper pilot Holt didn't have any secret objectives a week ago, despite what it looked like. My whole point was wanting these kinds of objectives to be clearer next time. It didn't change anything, and it didn't seem deliberate so we ignored it.

His secret objective was to waste NATO money and drive me crazy.

Well, the Battery was aiming directly at the wall. Don't know what the intended target was.

Delta was in and out before you'd even set off
i know that now, it just didn't make any difference

We made a dirty bomb.

Alright, I'll refrain from doing secret missions in the future. I'm not actually sure why Delta blew up the helicopters with Kurds standing right next to them, they weren't even told to blow those up. :v:
My group started a new campaign last night. We conducted a platoon-level raid on Porto, with our objectives being to knock out a communications tower, two radars and various other objectives defended by a reinforced company of SLA paratroopers, a tank troop, and a mechanized infantry platoon. Plus they had an airborne reaction force on standby, which we thankfully avoided for the most part!

This was a timed raid. We started at midnight, and had until 0225 to get back to the submarine that we launched from. The idea is that we're conducting a preliminary assault before the main friendly force moves into Sahrani proper. If we didn't knock out the radars, the enemy would know we're coming. If we didn't get off the island in time, we'd be stuck there for the next mission, and would have had to deal with whatever reaction force came back for us.
We managed to succeed for the most part; however, given the time restrictions, our limited ammo and equipment, and an overwhelming enemy, we didn't have the luxury of hanging around to complete everything.
You'll see my section conducting the initial assault into the town, clearing the bunker position. It might seem like our three sections and HQ are quite isolated, but we were all moving within 100 metres of each other. That town on Porto's very claustrophobic, though, so it felt a lot last night like you were stuck out on your own! Thankfully not the case, especially when the Spruts started rolling in.
Here we go:

I was aiming at the ATC, even in your video the rocket seems to go over the wall but somehow clips into a pole.
It doesn't matter anyway though, because regardless if I play serious or not people jump to the conclusion I did it on purpose. I understand that this has to do with a reputation I've built for myself but the fact that you instantly blame me, start to whine, and call for banning me even though you have very little idea of what actually happened makes me look much worse than I actually am.
Sure, I fuck up once in a while (maybe a bit more often), but I'll gladly admit to my mistakes, and atleast I try to fix them afterwards so everyone can enjoy the rest of their game, while you make sure to berate me for the rest of the game, and in a few missions have even left me to die/bleedout because of this.
I think mistakes like that could be fixed with proper equipment usage manuals. Arma players learn how to control equipment, but they don't know how to properly use it.
Also vehicle recognisation guides because the amount of times I hear someone call out a BRDM-2 as a BMP drives me up the fucking walls

Yes I don't know why you did it, or at what you were aiming at (There were no Planes in the air at that time, so I had no idea what you were shooting at).
Not gonna ask why you decided to shoot try to shoot the ATC with an AA, But for next time, make sure you hit the target (Or more importantly, not hit friendlies :v:).
I don't really have a problem with people manning these things and fool around. But I kinda start to get annoyed when that fooling around leads to people dying.
And yes, as of late I have been jumping to the conclusion that It's you for a few things. You can blame me for that, but More often than not, it actually turned out to be you (As shown in the video for exmaple). Maybe I'm still a bit salty from the mission saturday evening.

This is what I use:
BMP = tracked.
BTR = lotta wheels.
BRDM = 4 wheels.
Right?

Yeah, that's right

Hey, atleast they didn't mistake it for a vehicle from a totally different faction. Then we would have problems.

I have seen people mistake M113s for BTRs

One of these things is not like other.....
ONE OF THEM IS AN IFV DESIGNED TO PROTECT TROOPS FROM NUCLEAR FALLOUT
The other is essentially a Russian Clown Car
maybe we're not all military spergs who know every different soviet vehicle from world war 2 to the modern day
I know that's a foreign concept to you people
Then there's also the difference between BMPs and BMDs.
Then there's also the difference between BMPs and BMDs.
BMDs are lighter and the turrent is towards the front of the body. BMP turrent is in the back.
This is why I just stick with generic names like APC, Tank, Technical, Jet. Much easier for me as I would get the actual names wrong 90% of the time.
