Whichever cunts were, kindly don't, it's hardly been out that long and it's unbelievably rude and arrogant to presume that everyone must've seen it.

Who did this? Tolerating shit like this is a great way to make sure people won't play with us again.

It was about 30-20 min before we started. I don't know who said it but it was 2 or 3 people who yelled it as soon as someone suggested "Let's go watch star wars" and it resulted in the yelling of large spoilers.

How does it perform?
How does it perform?
Looks like a FAMAS, but better balanced and it has the shooty bits of an Ultimax, decent iron sights, and enough modularity to stack on half of Joint Rails' content at once.
Oh and it shoots grenades and rifle grenades at the same tim, as is tradition.
I do like the Vanilla Arma Campaign as a concept, but what kinda annoys me is that you pretty much don't get to play with any of the cool vehicles arma has to offer.
Sure you may be able to raid an outpost and get a tank in some mission, but thats about it. 99% of the time in the campaign, you're a regular infantryman with Shitty gear, but thats okay because ~Asymmetric warfare~
I think the biggest problem I'm having so far (I'm on the fuel truck mission, which is butt-fucking retarded) is that I'm getting invested in the guys I'm in charge of, then losing them because Private Fuckface decided standing up and walking out onto an open road while under accurate automatic weapons fire is a good idea. Also, the gear is persistent, so if I lose a guy and can't get his gear out, that gear isn't available on future missions.
Maybe I just need to learn2smallunittactics. Maybe the AI just needs to stop being dumb and getting themselves killed. Either way, it's pissing me off.
I've got no problem with the campaign otherwise. It's awesome as shit, I love punching above my weight as a guerrilla. But that shit right there... it just kills my enjoyment. If it were real, I'd be training my guys well in advance of taking them out on missions. I'd teach them everything I know about fighting and get to know them in the process. Instead it's like "hey, here's these guys, yell "Follow Me" at 'em and go to town". It doesn't work in the game, it sure as hell doesn't work in real life. It's bad leadership, plain and simple.
Also, Corporal Kerry is a whiny little fuck. My old Drill Sergeant would have made him do push-ups until he puked if he'd been in my BCT Company.

How does one even begin to figure out how to model the ballistics and stuff of a weapon to import into arma?

Having finished the campaign, I can honestly say that the entirety of the NATO faction only consists out of whiners.
I hope for the Campaign on Tanoa, there's gonna be a Less whiney faction and playable character if we get a new BLUFOR Faction.

Kinda makes me glad I got switched into the Pre-Briefing channel. I haven't seen the movie yet, and i'd hate to avoid this place (And maybe even ops) aswell just to avoid spoilers.
I'm still waiting for the digital release tho. Until then, I'm avoiding 4chan and other shitty places who might spoil it.

Better weapon selection too, I hope. I'm not liking this MX line of rifles very much, and the AAF's rifle looks like an FN F2000 humping a P90.
I like CSAT's Kaitaba rifle though. Part of it might be that I stole over 30 magazines for it (yes) during the supply truck mission, but I don't care, it's a badass little murder machine. I issue it to my guys as much as possible, along with RCOs if there are any spare.

Well, not really surprising, CSAT has a far more superior lineup of Assets compared to NATO.
This is especially the case when it comes to their infantry weapons and Air Assets.
CSAT has the Katiba, which from what I experiences and read online, has Lower recoil and a higher rate of fire, giving it an advantage in both CQB and Medium-Range engagements over the MX. The MX theoretically has more accuracy, however I haven't experienced much accuracy loss with the Katiba over engagement ranges ~800m when supplied with a scope that allows me to look that far.
CSAT also has the Mi-48 Kajman, which is the strongest gunship aimed at engaging ground forces currently, compared to NATO's blackfoot. If you thought the Mi-24 Hind was a nightmare, this gunship will fuck up your day. The Kajman has a 30mm Gatling as opposed to the BlackFoot's 20mm Cannon, which in arma is more like a peashooter when it comes to indirect damage.
The Kajman also doubles as a transport helicoper capable of deploying an entire squad of 8 people.
It also has 8 ATGM missiles which can take out all Vanilla Tanks in a single shot. While the Blackfoot has 2 Sidewinders in return, which are hilariously easy to avoid if you are more than 500m out.
And the AAF equipment is mostly 2035 Surplus.
Yeah, CSAT have some cool shit. I don't understand why the fuck they don't get issued body armor though. Are their fatigues made of Kevlar or some shit?
I just miss the old 2000 and 2010s equipment, like the M4 and the Apache and the Abrams. That's the shit I'd be going to war with if I ever do. I already know that equipment, I have a general idea of what it's capable of and what its purpose is. It holds a certain appeal to me. I'm not particularly interested in learning about or using a bunch of random-ass 5.56 assault rifles that don't have real-world counterparts.
CSaT don't get given Kevlar because their uniform is like NASA space suit environmental protection space age bullshit.
Hence the inlet on the back of the neck.

Mainly, because the game is playing in the year 2035 where these technologies are considered Surplus.
IMO, They can't please everyone. Judging from what I've seen within the community, Almost every weapon and vehicle in existence has been demanded at some point.
But yeah, if you want to use 2010 era weapons, then I'd advise just using a mod that gives you Arsenal and Zeus, which allow you to use the weapons and vehicles you want, anywhere you want, and use a content mod of your liking (HLC, CUP, RHS, Whatever).

Do you want the sarcastic answer or the real one? either will blow your mind, and both involve trigonometry

Ingame canon basically states it, basically CSAT have been able to basically make lemonade out of lemons against NATO for a decade, putting them ahead of NATO in capability to do sigificant military advancements.Doesn't give a COMPLETE excuse for the weird stat game going on with Vanilla equipment, butit does maybe give a bit of insight into why that excuse might be made.

Fun fact: the Katiba is a caseless rechambering of a bullpup (kh2001) version of the Iranian (Iranian norincos) version of a Chinese (Norinco ars) clone of an American (M16A1) rechambering of a 1950s (AR-10) rifle.
I disagree it's Arab space magic and you know it.

you have excellent taste, katiba is by far the best vanilla weapon

fun fact: the katiba is the only iranian origin weapon CSAT actually has
Does anybody know how to make the campaign soldiers less bullet-spongy?
I was playing a mission and a greenback squad leader took slightly more than one magazine of 7'62 NATO to the chest at 500m before dying, shortly passing out a couple of times between shots (I'm using FP's modpack in case that might be an issue). At the same time, Kerry can't take a single bullet before dying, even if I open the arsenal and give him a different uniform and chest piece, so all this shit is making the campaign highly infuriating to play, specially when "assymetric warfare" kicks in and they send me and a couple of retarded guerrillas out there to take out a convoy full of CSAT troops that tear my useless companions a new asshole before they manage to land a single bullet on target, leaving me alone to fend them off and complete the objective.

The enemies encountered in the campaign are just regular CSAT and AAF AI that are also everywhere else.
If you are playing the campaign with the FP modpack, then be advised for the following things:
* ACE:
Disable ace_medical (Remove or move the PBO outside of the AddOns folder inside the fp_ace modfolder).
ACE medical Fucks with the Unit Damage handling, and IIRC, there has been tickets on their issue tracker where 7.62 and some other calibers barely do any damage. For now, to be sure, remove ACE Medical in the campaign.
It also puts AI unconcious depending on settings, which can influence the mission flow, causing you to be stuck if the AI Leader of your squad is unconscious. I played the campaign in ACE, and I encountered this a few times.
Disable / Remove ace_explosives. This is basically only needed for 1 single mission in the first chapter [sp]Blackfoot Down. Mission Script looks for an explosive "Put", whereas ACE uses a script to plant the explosive, thus the objective isn't getting triggered.[/sp] Apart from that, I didn't encounter any other issues with explosives.
Removing ace_disposable might be desirable, since it Makes the NLAW a single use device, and might screw you later on if you don't have enough launchers at your disposal (I don't know if thats an issue, since I use arsenal to get my preferred loadouts).
Also worth keeping in mind. Never Load a Savegame in the campaign (Or SP for that matter). ACE is not compatible with the Vanilla Arma Savegame feature at all, and it will screw up a whole lot of things.
Shit may work to a decent degree, but expect to have things stop working when you load a savegame.
As always, The Arma Campaign wasn't developed with ACE in mind, and ACE is not focused on making the campaign compatible with ACE3. You can play the Campaign with ACE, but At some point, it will require some tweaking and maybe even some slight scripting to get around of a few issues.
* ACRE. Our modpack uses ACRE, assuming you have a recent version of it.
If you do have ACRE enabled, disable it for SP play. It's a mod that is only used in MP to provide semi-realistic radio comms with the use of Teamspeak. It might fuck up SP by replacing your radio, so it's best to turn it off. It does not provide any benefits for SP and the Campaign at all.

Thanks a lot for the effort with the reply, mate, you're a godsend.
I already had ACRE disabled since I never used it, will remove the rest of the modules you mentioned and not use saves, since I've also encountered some issues with units getting stuck when loading a game and that bug with explosives that you mentioned.
Launchers are not an issue since I love outfitting Kerry with your awesome and varied selection of uniforms and weaponry, sometimes even more than once per mission, and depending on how fucked I am I might even use MCC to spawn some sweet companions to replace the cannon fooder that greek guerrillas seem to be.
