Hey guys, I'm back! I'm done with pub crawling in Liverpool, looks like I missed some good stuff last week. I missed Arma3.
Back to the fields with you, cretin.

Minions dude
Does anybody have a full recording of the mission?
I do, however there's not much worth showing apart from Cloak slowly being driven to madness with the Total lack of communication over long-range.

Been staring at it entire morning, and it only went up from 25% to 27%.
I have a feeling that having myself make/direct a mission for you guys is in order.
Only downside is that it'll either end in tears and PTSD or I'll have to drop tanks on you for a challenge.
Enemy Tanks are fine, as long as we have some actual cover and weapons to fight them.
Would like to see more use of the AT Riflegrenade and maybe those AT Grenades that mallow did.
Would be cool to see them being used in scenarios where you have to fight Tanks in a city like in Zargabad.

Nah, if there's one clean example of armor being one hell of a challenge, it's Chernarus Tango. A single concealed T-72 and a BMP-3 disabled the whole vehicle column which was being used by the players due to how good of a kill zone the meadow we were using was.
Now, you might think "But Croguy nobody can anticipate tank shells from that distance!" and you might be right, but it was countered by two CDF-manned T-80s and one hell of an AT+sniper recon team. Ultimately the BMP-3 proved to be a real good area denial tool so it really boiled down to a whole squad getting mowed down and RHS/LOP acting fucky at the time which caused permanent damage to the rest of the mission. But good tactics remove any threat, even that of hidden armor overlooking open space.
Compare this scenario with an urban combat operation featuring tanks. I've been in ops where WaPa tanks in constant city battles dropped like flies basically every time they showed up, be it either because of paper armor, stupid AI(whose habit of scuttling tanks at random is really showing in RHS), or the inability to actually target the players due to their constant movement.
who's around tonight for part 2 of pump and fuck stealth action
mission theme: electrical storm means that everyone has to get inside periodically to not get fucking frazzled by lightning, surviving by retrieving ammo from dumps, helicopter crew gear as before
will be at about 7:30pm GMT if we do it because i've got to look at a house

Well, you can beat anything if you have a proper recon team that can identify threats, and have assets that can deal with the identified threats accordingly.
The main problem is that you don't have the time to properly recon every position out before your troops move in. Sure, you can try, but I don't think the Infantry is really fond of having to wait 20 minutes every time until the Recon team has gotten into position and made sure things look safe.
And well, we don't have RHS Wibbly Wobbly Spinny Tanks anymore, so AI tanks would fare a lot better in urban environments.

Well, yeah, but spotting out potential threat zones doesn't require the efforts of a full recon team. An officer halting the convoy to scan the horizon does the trick just fine in most situations where you only need to signal people to get into battle stations and prepare for a fight.
Oh yeah, speaking of CUP tanks, is the AI actually willing to shoot at the players/infantry? My experience with RHS constituted of tanks which would fire at enemy armor almost exclusively, and would often drive head first into the enemy. Never really figured out why their behavior with those is that stupid.

Tanks in vanilla will not switch ammo, no vehicle will. There's a config work around, but it requires a bit of messing around and you'd have to know about it to implement it.

someone would have to host, server is updated but having some issues with the repo
someone would have to host, server is updated but having some issues with the repo
that's a lot of effort, will just wait for the server to be back together
does kauks server still wörk?
does kauks server still wörk?
Maybe.
But I'm too lazy to find out.
also if people want to save some time downloading, get this
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz-fdGGxhJTvYnVjQ1ZrRU1HZjg/view?usp=sharing
and extract it to your arma3 folder and rename it to @FP_CUP_Terrains
a3s should handle the rest

As I am seeing this. We have around 5 people recording. We might want to put those people in different squads. Last mission 3 were in Bravo and two in Alpha. Not that much was going on, but just saying.
11 out of 9 Vanilla operations.

no one is going to sacrifice their fun by entering some shitter squad just to record their shittery
I'm gonna play in the squad that I feel like playing with.
Unless other slots are already taken
i'd join a squad to make it less shittery
We need to do more vanilla ops. We had lots of fun just dicking around as AAF this afternoon.
We should do more Defense ops too.

Your wishes may be awnsered soon. (Like when we get CUP terrains soon)

You say that but in Charlie squad I actually was able to shoot people.
Can't wait for Sunday. I'll actually be allowed to finish downloading all that shit.

Delta squad took a nice stroll around the country, very pretty scenery.
So if the repo is fixed tomorrow, I'm thinking another comfy mission on Stratis or Altis.
