It's difficult because games for me start at 1pm. That's smack in the middle of the day.
no this only applies to same-machine HC.
huh. /a3g/ had a regular linux executable server and a WINE-run hc on the same machine.
Plus, whilst HC is really nice, it's something we can live without for now
You want to live without potentially greater frames?
no this only applies to same-machine HC. external HCs work fine, but being on the same machine is much more effective since you don't have to send updates over internet. CBA + ACE + CUP Terrains is around 500.
Have you by chance considered deploying Docker and using a container for the Server and one for the HC? Then give each container a static IP and make them believe that the HC is indeed running on an external Host, while still physically being on the same machine.
It's difficult because games for me start at 1pm. That's smack in the middle of the day.
Exactly. It's why I think, especially with the recent A3G influx who to my knowledge are mostly US players, we should have 2 CDs. One for European evenings and one for USA evenings.
Exactly. It's why I think we should have 2 CDs. One for European evenings and one for USA evenings.
Well, americans are free to organize them. It's only a matter of someone stepping up as zeus to set it all up and manage, and have some people who want to play.
huh. /a3g/ had a regular linux executable server and a WINE-run hc on the same machine. You want to live without potentially greater frames?
What, I'm pretty sure HC does not, at all, equal greater frames. Unless you mean the server.
huh. /a3g/ had a regular linux executable server and a WINE-run hc on the same machine. You want to live without potentially greater frames?
It's being worked on, can't tell you exactly when it's going to be in place, but we're taking a look at it.
West coast best coast Fparma at 11am on sunday, weekends off work
West coast best coast Fparma at 11am on sunday, weekends off work
11 am....central? Eastern?
What, I'm pretty sure HC does not, at all, equal greater frames. Unless you mean the server.
Well, yeah. Real Virtuality engine is old tech, like 15 years old now. Client FPS is limited by server FPS.
It's being worked on, can't tell you exactly when it's going to be in place, but we're taking a look at it.
Very nice.
11 am....central? Eastern?

West coast best coast
Pacific?
huh. /a3g/ had a regular linux executable server and a WINE-run hc on the same machine. You want to live without potentially greater frames?
yeah wine has no issues
Well, yeah. Real Virtuality engine is old tech, like 15 years old now. Client FPS is limited by server FPS.
This isn't true, there's a correlation, but it's not directly linked in the engine.
This isn't true, there's a correlation, but it's not directly linked in the engine.
I think he was just being sarcastic.
Pacific?
I totally forgot that time lmao
When will 7th cav migrate to FParma
i got contacted by dslyexci they'll be announcing a merger with fparma any day now
Will he demand that he leads FP Arma and that we all must follow him word for word?
Will he demand that he leads FP Arma and that we all must follow him word for word?
I would actually love to see this as it would just utterly fail and would be funny as fucking to watch the slow decent into madness trying to handle us and our sick dank banter. Speaking of banter:
If no one is violently opposed to it, Terry would like to try and host a CD this Friday at the typical 18:30 UTC.
This isn't true, there's a correlation, but it's not directly linked in the engine.
60 fps in singleplayer 0 fps in multiplayer Maybe we should just blame low FPS on mod makers, like dyslexo :^)
New walking animations
60 fps in singleplayer 0 fps in multiplayer Maybe we should just blame low FPS on mod makers, like dyslexo :^)
Lmao dude you can't be for real. It was already stated as well that Zeus spawned AI is a form of HC. If you think that clients give a rats ass about which other machine handles AI then you are very wrong. Think about it. We stress tested HC as well with an ever increasing amount of HC spawned AI, it was rock solid 50 fps on the server, with a steadily dropping fps on clients until the game became unresponsive.
aw no more stiff waggle [editline]27th January 2016[/editline]
Lmao dude you can't be for real. It was already stated as well that Zeus spawned AI is a form of HC.
New walking animations
Does look a lot nicer. The old walk cycle looked pretty robotic, and like it was sped up.
Does look a lot nicer. The old walk cycle looked pretty robotic, and like it was sped up.
It was sped up to match the movement speed. This is how it looked like originally
I don't think I could walk that slow even if I tried
generation kill comfy starting now
-headless client stuff-
Neat. Yeah finally bothered to add Headless Client into my server setup. Seems to work very nicely. Maybe now I have a reason to add HC Support into the missions I build. Aparently Arma supports multiple Headless Clients at once. I wonder how much of a difference 2 local HC's would make for a mission with a lot of AI. Thinking about whole map missions/campaigns built with Alive and comparable solutions.
the real gains is on the local machine / same lan anything else has to travel over the net which is by far the slowest transport in this context
