Comfy Downtime was pretty rad yesterday. I was the Gunner in the T-72 and had an awesome time. I now know why people enjoy it. First I was uncertain because it's a lot of on your shoulders (not missing a vital shot, remembering to range, listening to the commander and so on) but once I got comfy (huehue) with it I had a blast.
Took out an attack helicopter with an AP tank round to it's face.
Fucked a bunch of BMP and BTRs.
Most likely committed some kind of war crime with the amount of infantry I killed by filling them with rounds from my coaxial.
Generally was a fucking beast.

Yes I know I got the names of the enemy vehicles wrong.
I was fucking around in Zeus (as you do) and I think I'm going to do a tank comfy downtime (because we know that shit wouldn't fly in a regular mission)
So if you want to live out your Fury daydreams come and join it, it'll probably be at the regular time my CDs are at, give or take a few hours.

Vehicle based CDs would be a good way to let people try out and get better at using vehicles without the risk of messing up an important vehicle role during a Sunday OP due to lack of ability/knowledge.
So speaking of vehicle ops and comfy downtime, I'd like to finish my CDF campaign tomorrow around the same time we did yesterday (7 or 8 gmt) but I'd like to actually get enough people so it could be compared to a legit mission. I've already saved the sqf for it.

I plan on adding NPC interaction eventually. Want the place to feel alive and noisy so that when the bullets start flying it'll be extra hectic because of all the visual and audio stimuli hitting the players.

I am told that on multiple occasions croguy revived me because I was down for so long and no-one was around or I had been killed by such bullshit that he wanted to get me back into the fight
let's go down how two instances of these went down
1. convoy part 1. I dismount my bmp roughly 200m away from the enemies, move forward a bit, lie down and sight. they all instantly turn to me and absolutely annihilate me, and then shoot my corpse for 2 minutes. my screen goes black and white as the 200000 bulletholes in my body leak out all my blood. 5 minutes later, I magically wake up, and then immediately drop dead again because [I]I have no blood[/I]. This happens twice, then I just respawn.
2. Convoy, part 2. We roll up on the actual convoy and I take position on the North East hill. I spot an enemy, shoot him, and then am immediately gunned down by two others on the South West hill. They shoot my corpse until they spot someone else. After two minutes, I wake up. I shoot one of them and then am immediately aimbotted again by enemies on the North hill. After another two minutes I wake up again. This time, all the enemies are dead, so I am capable of actually patching myself up.
Also there was the whole part where my game froze and in the meanwhile the Land Rover penetrated the BMP's arse so hard that it just straight exploded

It's for the group that I play with, though there's a few frameworks that I'm developing for it that I'd be able to upload here once they're done.

We usually get about 28-35 people on, but given that it's COIN it could work for bigger or smaller I guess. I haven't got around to enemy placement yet, I'm focusing wholly on creating a living environment first.
Got kinda upset at the lack of static searchlights, and managed to fix up my searchlight port.
Finally got all the updating base class issues out of the window.

The AI behavior really is fucked up. I was also overlooking some of the AI engage in battle and they almost never really use full auto. Combine that with pin point accuracy and pretty much any bigger group of enemies will be able to land a hit on single targets.
...which is all fixed with the ASR AI module but for some reason it wasn't enabled. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

were you even running ASR ? it's useless if you as a client don't have it enabled
i was running a few tests earlier this week comparing ASR to no ASR
ACE handles burst fire (AI never uses full auto afaik, ever). in the tests I could see AR gunners fire in bursts all the time. the closer the target, the faster AI would fire
ACE also lowers the max config for AI skill (1.0 accuray would actually be 0.9, etc)
in 1.52 or so, BI added some security for loading certain files, which forces everyone to use -filePatching to load ASR config (editor/SP, not on dedicated as it uses the server config). we can't allow -filePatching on the server for obvious reasons
the reason that I removed ASR was that I could see AI react faster (but not aim better, in my small tests). we've faced some pretty horrible AI in missions where zeus is not running ASR because they automatically get lower AI skills. as I removed ASR I also upped AI accuracy by 0.15, just to test. i lowered it again after yesterdays comfy. current config is

to get around the problem with ASR, we can include it in the modpack and rewrite it to load a config file inside the .pbo (that one would be used in SP/Editor, but on the server it uses the server config)

Continuation of my Comfy CDF mission in an hour and a half. I've spent a couple days working on this so it might feel like an actual mission.
Ok thinking my tank only mission will be at 21:00 UTC (that's 1pm PST)
