There's plenty of groups out there for people that wants adv medical with medevac and similar stuff, don't see any reason to use it as it'll only create longer downtime and a large number of mission makers seem to want everyone to be a medic anyway
I might be one of the only ones, but I want to give Ace advanced medical another shot. If we are able to make medical tents and FOB's fully heal people, we could actually use ambulances and medevac helos, and personally I'd love to do that.
[editline]1st February 2016[/editline]
And if it's enabled, we can go over it in training and teach everyone how to use it.
Imo i'd give it another chance. Mainly to see people struggle with it. Last time was pretty entertaining to see 20 people sit around 1 corpse trying every action to see if it does something.
I'd also be surprised if training actually solves this. Mainly due to the fact that not everyone will attend these, but everyone even non-medics must know how it works.
However, it would be cool if we actually made the switch to ace advanced medical. It's pretty cool.
You can make it so PAKs can be used anywhere if you don't wanna deal with medevacs, the whole thing can be as casual as you want it to be.
But at that point I don't see the appeal. A PAK is a full medical reset iirc. I don't think that advanced medical is fleshed out enough to be fun.
Besides, we're already contending with problems of having more people on as well as having those people, admittedly mostly FPArma people, untrained. Let's not clusterfuck it even more with new shit that we don't need just yet. Maybe we can try it in the future.
With all of this about training, I though I might drop a video of a training session /a3g/ did a while ago. Its about two hours and very dry, but may be useful to listen to in the background while you browse the internet or something. It also may be worthwhile to record your training ops, for people who couldn't make it and for archival purposes.

Also, here is the /a3g/ youtube channel, that I don't think is active/maintained anymore, that has some informational videos that are still up to date and might be worth watching.

EDIT:
Looks like there is a more recent training video that has time codes for various topics, so you can jump to sections that you want to view.

That first one is pretty solid. It's not exclusively about leadership, lots of general purpose stuff, but that's good. Kind of gave me an idea. Definitely better than Cloak's follow-behind-the-tank thingy last night which didn't feel like an applicable tactic in any kind of situation. Sorry Cloak! The bit after it was better, but still suffered a little from lack of squad structure so people just rolled in free form groups.

don't worry, it all fell to bits because toad bailed out to play dota at the last minute, so the entire thing was a disaster anyway
it needs someone to properly think about it and do, and that person is not me

it would be hilariously bad luck for me that, just before the mission i thought i'd take it easy and join the aux medic squad, we decide to use advanced ace medical
you're all getting smelling salts until you can see sound and smell colours
(i'd advise against it for this mission, as most people are in vehicles so the only guys that are going to have to struggle with the medical shit are going to be the infantry, and there's going to be less people as infantry)
One of the videos from the Armoured Vehicles CD we did on Sunday. More or come later.
Terry fucked up.

Also Mallow's image is going to be rad for learning vehicles. I can see how often I miss identify vehicles.
actually fuck it i'd be up for advanced medical
but my request would be that there's a training session on it, and that the medical squad on Sunday gets a medevac helicopter to speed things up
1.54.134218 profiling & performance v16 server and client, windows, linux
+ fixed negative autoarray crash related to anims
+ fixed some of the out of memory crashes

It would be a good idea to debut it on a mission with respawn. Less punishing for a first time, that way.

does this sunday not have respawn?
It would be a good idea to debut it on a mission with respawn. Less punishing for a first time, that way.
Well, OP's usually have respawn in some way. About ~8/10 of out OP's have respawn.

I meant something designed around instadeath, like the last mission, where medics don't matter as much.
I meant something designed around instadeath, like the last mission, where medics don't matter as much.
Well, I've only seen a handful of missions since I started playing that used Instadeath that was not caused by an accident.
Why not just Dev it up thanks to this amazing change
Fixed: In Zeus, when multiple objects were dragged onto another object, it sometimes resulted in all objects being stacked on the same position
HOLY FUCK.
Now if they'd only Fix http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=23204 ;)
Did this one section practice with the 7th cav today, it was really fun. Since it was the rotary transport section they set up a path around summer chernarus and had Zeus place anti air at random along the path while people were flying it, and the pilots would just have to follow the path while dodging all the AA.
I thought that it was really good NOE, auto rotation, and evasive maneuver practice, while at the same time being pretty fun.
What is the full name of the vehicles the Panzer groups are using? Would like to get familiar with the weapons.
Also, maybe we should confirm that everyone operating an armoured vehicle has a microphone? Seems essential for a vehicle crew to communicate effectively in order not to get fucked up.

Why would you play ArmA 3 in general without a microphone?
Why would you play ArmA 3 in general without a microphone?
Don't have one or not used to talking over a microphone.
There's plenty of reasons.
Why would you play ArmA 3 in general without a microphone?
Micsi didn't use/have a microphone for a long time from what I remember, I think last year was the first time I ever heard him talk. He played well despite not using one.
Just saying that as a infantryman on the ground you don't so much need a microphone (besides lead elements) as you can do a lot of stuff on your own initiative (Medics do medic shit, AT shoots armoured vehicles ect) or from orders they get from SL or TL.
I feel that since something like a tank crew needs everyone working in unison to work well. Say the driver has no microphone and sees a target in front of him while the commander was looking somewhere else. The driver would need type to relay that info which may take too long and/or leave him unable to drive the vehicle at a critical moment if the commander sees something and relays an order to the driver.
Same if the gunner has no microphone, the gunner sees an AT mine up ahead that the commander and driver has missed. He needs to inform the driver quickly before they hit it. Having no microphone would mean the gunner needs to take the time to type AND release control of his turret as he types. This again, can cause time-critical moments to be missed; such as the commander suddenly ordering the gunner to fire on a target before it fires on them.
Just a thought.

Yup, last year it was when I first heard him talk.

So today we will be going over radios, urban cumbat and helicopter operation. In about 3 hours. Gripping stuff.

Would have liked to come but I have D&D tonight.

You'd have to push it back an hour if I'm going to be able to show up.

yeah but micsi is like bumblebee from transformers - he can communicate purely through sound clips and song lyrics
I'll start it at 3 est or 8 gmt then.
#standup4micsi
I have actually never spoken in ts, all videos of me talking are fake
I was driving the first time Micsi said something
Needles to say, I hit a tree and exploded
