How does the game look like on the lowest settings anyway
The forest [sp]better than rust[/sp]
You will love the steam discussions for this game, it is literally identical to the rust subforum so much infact I am 100% confident there are droves and droves of rust/dayz players just swarming to this and STILL failing to comprehend what an alpha is and are just going to oversaturate the shit out of this game.
I really hope they fix the spawn rates, as soon as I spawn and take a few steps I get swarmed by cannibals and they fuck me up, doesn't help it takes like 20 swings just to kill a single one.
I don't know guys...maybe im hyping the game, but if I had to say what alpha of the three probably most popular survival games is the most promissing... I think I would go with Forest, I mean it's an 0.01v Alpha and it's actually pretty, pretty good.. (and I'm really surprised)
I'm liking the game so far, let's hope some major updates to the game can bring in new gameplay features. I actually want to see the player develop into some kind of dreaded force of nature if he continues to survive around the forest ala Far Cry 3. It would be neat to actually scare some mutants as you gained a reputation.
Extra compressed, but graphically it is still pretty shit on low none the less: [t]http://i.imgur.com/qgmpPi7.jpg[/t]
To be honest, I want them to keep the player's strength and everything just the way it is. This is a horror game after all. You're not meant to slaughter entire cannibal tribes in CQC, you need to hide, overcome their superior forces with wits and traps and shit. We have way too many games these days where you're a huge badass who is basically a one-man-army.

I'm not really saying the game should be a one man army thing, but more about adding new systems within the relationships. The whole effigies system can be a foundation for creating communication between the player and the mutants. It's like a predator-prey relationship that will eventually grow into a competition to see who will die first.
So somewhere on their website or maybe a dev said it that the mutants hate water. Well I was being chased by mutants and swam into the sea and suddenly they followed me in but instead of swimming decided to walk on the ocean floor. I got surounded by at least 7 of the monsters so I decided to go onto the boat and sure enough they decided to walk in the water. One thing I realized is that I could craft unlimited Molotovs and that they worked on the mutants even in the water. Here is a nice pic of a mutant burning in the water although he has ran a bit back out. [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/594786228025329843/706F5230FD2B063961837315B92DB11D3367CB9E/[/t]

Yeah, more communication would be nice, as long as it is kept to things like putting up warnings like the effigies. I think it is important for the game's atmosphere and scare factor to keep the player at a constant disadvantage. Like sure, you can kill mutants and they may hesitate to attack when they find effigies, but in the end they should know that they're stronger, faster and bigger in numbers. The player should always be aware that he is in no way equal to them, he should never be confident when facing a horde, but worried that he's not prepared to take them on regardless of his weapons or shelter. That's just my thoughts on keeping the game a survival horror game, I'm not saying that any other ways in which the development could go would be bad or something. It's just that it is way too easy to lose the horror factor by changing those things, especially when they are adding a coop mode.
Mutants are way too easy to kill, imo. Just peg them with molitovs. It's not like cloth and booze are rare components.
circle strafing and mashing m1 takes care of up to 3 mutants at a time
I never normally hear them coming and/or I'm not constantly 360 circling while I'm building to actually see the fuckers in the distance. I'd love to just fuck off to the island for the first few days and rely solely on fishing but alas.
You should be given a day in game to get your bearings before the mutants come out, especially as you have to watch the intro every time you want to play.
The most important thing, in my opinion, they should fix first, is the saving issue...
You should be given a day in game to get your bearings before the mutants come out, especially as you have to watch the intro every time you want to play.
Also they should make the intro skippable.
The mutants seem to have somewhat regular parthing so depending on where you start to make your base depends on how likely you are to be left alone. Pick the right spot and you can go days without ever seeing a mutant depending on how big you decide to build your base. This is why building anywhere near the plane crash is a bad idea as so many frequent that area in their search. And if you kill them loads more will come to that area.

How do you make/get rope?
15 fps at fastest setting, I guess I will have to wait.
How do you make/get rope?
If I remember right you don't actually need rope, it's not implemented in the game yet. When you go to build something that requires rope it just requires more sticks.
If I remember right you don't actually need rope, it's not implemented in the game yet. It took at least 30 minutes to build that.
If I remember right you don't actually need rope, it's not implemented in the game yet. When you go to build something that requires rope it just requires more sticks.
Sweet. Now where is my knife and abillity to drink piss. Gotta make Bear Grylls proud. :v:
"it's an alpha! you shouldn't expect anything to work! you shouldn't even expect it to be the same game you paid for!" - shills in comments of everything to do with this game it's the same defence people shouted about arma 3 which ended up having near enough the same ammount of content and bugs on release..
That's right, if you don't want a messy unfinished product then you do not buy games in alpha stage. Simple as that.
That's right, if you don't want a messy unfinished product then you do not buy games in alpha stage. Simple as that.
I would be more forgiving if the alpha release wasn't already delayed for like 2 months
From Reddit: (ai spoilers)
[sp]First of all I'd like to point out that my experiences have varied...I feel like some natives are hostile right at the beginning and occasionally I will find some that seem curious instead. The most interesting thing though was on my last play through. Normally as I leave the plane, im spotted instantly by some investigating mutants. This time, however, I looted some airplane bags, and I saw them before they saw me. I know this because there is a distinct sound you will learn for when they are coming after you. Instinctively, I hid from him. I ran away from the plane. He passed through and I never saw him again. Once I looted all of the containers, I decided to move away from this crash site. I moved carefully. Seeing TONS of them around. Eventually I stumbled upon a huge old tree that resembled the Tree of Life or whatever from Avatar. I figured they were nearby so I just made a fireplace, and started my large shelter in the area. They started showing up... I noticed that in this particular area, they moved in patrols... I kept my own business but every once in a while they would come up to me, wondering what I was doing. The first one to get close came up to my fire, but he would not cross it...he stood there looked at me, and ran off... This is where it got interesting... after he left, more and more would be seen in the woods near me...but as I observed them...they weren't watching me...THEY KNEW WHAT I WAS DOING.... They were making a perimeter...They were actually building Posts around me with dead body parts from people on the plane, shoes, umbrellas, cameras, and other luggage. They were making a line. That line COMPLETELY ENCIRCLED ME shortly after. I understood it... they don't want me to cross it. After they finished putting up posts, they left the area and I have not seen a single one there. They warned me and they left without conflict. Anyone else finding these types of things happening? [/sp]
