I would be more forgiving if the alpha release wasn't already delayed for like 2 months
It was delayed like a week calm yourself.
Did the mutants stop spawning after a couple of days for anyone else?
I went exploring a little bit and couldn't find a single one.

That sounds really creepy.

That sounds really awesome.
I hope that isn't made up. The AI is fucking incredible.
The AI in this game is sentient.

Delayed alpha means you can be harsh to the game... makes sense really?
"it's an alpha! you shouldn't expect anything to work! you shouldn't even expect it to be the same game you paid for!" - shills in comments of everything to do with this game
it's the same defence people shouted about arma 3 which ended up having near enough the same ammount of content and bugs on release..
shills or people who know what alpha means?
you didn't pay to play the game and have fun. you paid to alpha and beta test it.

You get what you pay for, maybe next time you should read the store page.
Just bought and played this, what an awesome game.
I left the plane, scavenged what I could and set up shop by a small pond with my back to a sheer cliff-face. In the Night I heard things, people running through the woods, I also heard lovely birdsong. A sharp violin note and I turned around, somebody was stood next to the pond, a brazier mounted on their shoulder. He stepped towards me, I pulled out a lighter and he stepped back. We stood like this for two minutes, watching each other before he turned and ran back into the darkness. I set about clearing the area of trees, but I could hear them coming. I didn't know what trap would be best so I left it, instead building a big bonfire.
Not a second after I lit it did I see him again, on the edge of the firelight. He just seemed to be watching me, so I turned my back. I had logs strewn about the camp from my deforestation attempt, and I built my first trap, nestled between two trees nearby. Still, he watched me. I could hear more of them now, and in a flash of thunder I realised I might be lucky to see the sun rise. At least 6 of them stood intermittently around my camp.
I stepped back towards the firelight, they hadn't attacked me yet. Maybe they'd leave if I scared them off? I drew my axe and stepped forwards, he stepped back. I heard a wooden thud behind me and a howl of pain, one of them had stepped into the trap and been crushed. The Cannibals howled, I'd drawn first blood, but I would draw no more.
Days survived: Three.
On a gameplay note, is there a way to construct a cover over a firepit? The rain seemed to be putting mine out. And can I deconstruct firepits? I had a small one to start with, and whenever I lit the large one nearby, it also lit the small one.
Apparently this guy found a way to fix the FPS drop over time for AMD users.

If all the stories about AI are real, this is the game the industry was waiting for. If an indie game can do this, AAA games have no excuse to put shitty aim-and-shoot AI in their games anymore.
Yeah AI has been remarkably stale over the span of 7th Generation games. Maybe with this and Star Citizens AI it could inspire and breathe some new life into the games industry.

can you imagine a stealth game with really smart AI?
I love Deus Ex Human Revolution, but if you see a man roll past you...you don't just go "HMMMMM I GUESS NO ONE IS HERE AFTER ALL", you stay alert and keep looking. Same with dishonored: The AI is somewhat reasonable, but they still aren't believable.

Jesus fuck, I don't know if I want this game anymore.

Dude, Jesus, Thief AI, and its from, what? 1999-ish??? is far better and more complex than some AI seen in FPS nowadays.
FPS AI needs a whole revamp.

Yes you do. You're going to get it anyway. We all know it... One of us. One of us.
I would buy this game, but I think I'll wait for it to a. go on sale b. get a huge update.
It's probably playable in its current state, but I'd prefer to wait.
Any major problems with it?
Watching this Shroomz fucker on Twitch and I cant wait till he gets his shit wrecked because he refuses to move after murderboning about 5 mutants

Well it's alpha 0.1 so yeah lot of bugs as expected.
Incredibly well made for an alpha tho. I'm very impressed by the quality of the game. It's going to be a huge success.

Complicated AI has never been a problem. The problem is that complicated AI becomes difficult to fight which is why most developers just slap in AI and go with it.
I like the complicated AI, and the sense that even one of the mutants can be an issue for you if you're not prepared. It's a good challenge.
And it really brings out the horror in this. Instead of going "well, there's enemies here and they're going to hunt me down from the getgo" instead, they could just sit in trees and watch you and then ambush you.

Yeah the AI just sitting watching me is the scariest thing. You want to turn your back on them but you don't know what will happen if you do. Will they move in closer and try to kill you? Are they just going to keep standing there?

I hope a tree falls on his stupid house.
I am enjoying the stream, but it's always more fun when people fail horribly.
[sp] Sorry guys but that perimeter thing is probably BS, it's most likely scripted pathing when the player is in range and he coincidentally had set up his camp in the middle of the pathing and the AI just didn't attack him due to numerous reasons, then disappeared because of the disappearing bug [/sp]
People have a broad imagination. In my experience the AI has been pretty dumb and annoying, they group around somewhere close to my camp and don't fuck off for 20 minutes while scurrying back and forth to a tree
I survived for almost 4 hours straight until the game crashed
fuck

[sp] The AI is pretty great, I was building a camp on the beach and I was collecting wood in the forest, I seen the light of one of the patrols wandering near my camp. They got to my camp and stopped, looked at it for a while and started screaming, then about 2 more patrols showed up from all directions, checking out my camp. Then the shrines started to appear nearby and then I killed them all with molotovs [/sp]
[sp] So I'm pretty sure if you hear them screaming, it means they know you're there and they're contacting friends to come help find you [/sp]

It happened to me, believe it or not The AI is splendid
It happened to me, believe it or not The AI is splendid
i've been watching a lot of streams and it seems everyone takes the route to attack or run away from them and though there's a lot of times where the ai goes up to them it's mostly the player that's initiating it
Make a camp, chase off one of them bastards, go to sleep and find 5 of them hanging on the trees above after i wake up. Shiiiieet
Ive got the impression that they get braver when you crouch and actually back of if you charge them.
So I cancelled the first building by opening the survival book again and I couldn't place down any more blueprints or whatever. Huh.
So today I was hiding from some monsters when I saw them in the distance look like they was preying. I went in for a closer look and instead it almost looked like eating but praying at the same time. I did not want to get any closer encase they saw me so sorry for tiny picture.

I went way further down the coastline and decided to make my base there as I though a seagull sitting on thin air was a sign.

A bit into making my base a patrol saw my fire at night and started screeching causing over 5 groups to show up. They quickly surounded the base and it was hard to hide.

Before I knew it they had found me. I really like this picture because of where they are standing the mountain in the background and the nice burning Molotov in my hand.

There was so many of them they kicked my ass and after fighting my way out of the cave I headed back to camp to find they had put posts up.

Just a few minutes later a shit ton of them came out of nowhere and killed me. Just something about this play through was really fun.
