Played the shit out of Stranded 2 a long time ago, this is the first game I've bought in a long time.
I think somebody should ask or tell the game devs to do somekind of Robison Crusoe's "Friday". You know, have 2 tribes fighting each other and maybe you can recruit or communicate with some of the tribe that is being pushed back/defeated.
Would make for some extremely interesting situations.
OH MY GOD THIS GAME IS AWESOME
that's what i've been thinking, it'd be cool as shit if there were some rudimentary way to communicate with the mutants (besides building totems out of their dead friends)
Hotfix out
I'd certainly buy this if I had the money.
Hotfix out
apparently it didn't fix saving (according to forums)
might have optimized the game a little
mutants are 1-hitting everyone

Oh, maybe I should wait a bit longer.
I had built a little base, was collecting logs to build some stuff and when I came back, the fucking tribesmen had put up 2 heads-on-sticks with blue nails through their lips, and a really tall stick with a frog on the top. Fucking vandals, I'm gonna build an effigy because of that.
I also found that if you're holding a head and pick up another head, it drops 2 heads but you still keep holding one: Endless heads for everyone! (And endless lag, too!)
And tennis balls never stop bouncing.

MORE AXE! MORE POWER!
From the steam forums:
Here's the official word on The Save hotfix, and the contents of the patch we just recieved:
"Ben made a really quick bug fix, there's going to be the proper hot fix with saving loading and some performance improvements Monday or tuesday"
You run a lot faster when moving diagonally (ie. holding W + A/D). Haven't seen it posted yet, but it's been keeping me alive, especially when getting chased.
Also, that little sound effect when you cut down a tree scares the shit out of me every time. I swear to god, I'm always uneasy playing this game, constantly spinning around and making sure I'm not being watched.
its awesome
Was there ever a sale for this yet? I only have 7 dollars on my steam account haha hopefully there will be a 50% off sale sometime.
Hoping that update for saving is tomorrow..

It just released on Friday, probably won't be on sale for a while. $15 is well worth it atm imho, even w/ all the bugs and stuff. Spectacular game.
Can you stick mutant parts on a spear outside your base as a warning or make a massive pile of dismembered limbs?
After getting this earlier, my brother tried it first. Every single time he stepped off the plane there was a cannibal waiting for him. He was convinced it was a scripted, unavoidable thing to get knocked out and dragged away after starting. I give it a go, get a small shelter going(he was so nervous he didn't even think to try cutting down trees) and he's like "what the fuck? why haven't they caught you yet?" Then I somehow fall out of bounds and died. I mean this in a good way, but THIS is kind of what I picture Cataclysm: DDA would kind of be like if it was made into a First Person Survival Rogue-like.
EDIT: Its most likely what its meant for, but I was laughing for like 5 minutes when a group of cannibals actually chased after a thrown tennis ball.
Not sure if the despawning cannibals bug is really a bug or not. I've killed 3 groups of them via molotovs (since you can make them infinitely) and made effigies to keep them out. It would make sense for them to just go back in their caves.
I THOUGHT THE TENNIS BALL WAS USELESS FUCK

probably not, but steam sale's comin' up and you never know what uncle gabe will bring to the table
Can you stick mutant parts on a spear outside your base as a warning or make a massive pile of dismembered limbs?
Yes you can. And even though I know they can't hear me screaming at them when they show up and see my effigy, I"m still all like, "yeah, see that shit?! See all those legs and heads?! Those are your buddies! So get the fuck out!"
And then they kill me because I ran out of molotovs.
All it took was a flare gun and a rock and I managed to completely destroy the game.
I duplicated the flare gun by picking up a rock quickly and repeated this about 30 times, then realized I could do the same with body parts.
This gave me an unlimited ammo flare gun, the ability to use like 3 items at once, floating buildings, and logs and birds flew out of my hunting shelter at a constant rate.
Eventually enemies stopped spawning altogether after killing 10-15 or so with the flare gun, and most of them when they died stood in place frozen. They also ran around in circles sometimes.
I continued with trying to finish a log cabin after building 3 or so effegies when suddenly the tide began to rise and the imaginary water line slowly rose. It got to a point where my shelter on the beach was submerged in invisible water, by the time I got to land it rose a solid 10-20 feet from where the water SHOULD be.
I decided that exploring the island was the only thing I can do at this point, so I started heading in one direction and found a neat little camp. After that, I found a little lake/pond sort of thing and right after that I started the ascent to a new plane of existence. Trees started disappearing, an open field was there and mountains in the skybox right in front of it. I started to walk into the open field and my game crashed.
That's not even everything.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=266415656 from here on out is all of the pictures i managed to take, which didn't show the field or camp, but still shows my base, the duped flare guns, the frozen dead mutants, and me swimming on the imaginary water line.
Interestingly while I was playing, I just started and was accosted by a small cannibal group near the beach, three of them.
After a drawn out fight I managed to kill their leader. The remaining two's moral broke and they ran away. (I should note that I like the way "execution" can be dealt to wounded cannibal's, though it should only take one swing from a axe to kill, not three).
However, when I moved down the beach a few minutes later, I noticed the two survivors ran back to their leaders body. They did not do anything, they just stood their staring. When I approached them the female seemed to be either mourning the leader, or eating him. The male turned to attack me.
So yeah, good game so far. Still has a long way to go.

That's actually how we should probably all be playing this. As early access people we technically should be bug hunting and reporting stuff, actively trying to break the game and documenting it for the devs.

this right here is why alpha releases are bad ideas, your average gamer is NOT an alpha tester

I doubt there's even a single person here in this thread who has reported a bug
I think the only times i've reported a bug is if I was invited to play a game for bug testing, not having to buy into it :(

Thing is that when a shitton of people play the game, bugs and glitches are brought up in forums and brought to attention.
Sure, we might not be doing it, but many people are.
There's one [sp]to the left of the yacht just off the coast, if you walk out of the forest and face[/sp]the yacht,[sp] then go left along the coast at the waterline and pass a[/sp] dead shark [sp]you should be able to find it, look for a pile of big grey rocks that are noticeably lighter-colored than the ones littering the beach, if you approach from the direction of the ocean you should see some roots, and that's the cave entrance. There's obviously nothing friendly inside, and I think the area is still a WIP because it looks like it should be flooded (its not) and I had some pretty major lighting problems as I went further back. Still, pretty interesting to explore, though you shouldn't go in unprepared. [/sp]
Strategically spoilered for those who only want hints I guess
Thanks for the info! Ill give it a try.
Fish. What are you doing. You're not a bird, stop that.
