Co-op is not planned for the initial release. However adding some form of co-op play will be one of our focuses after the initial release of the game.
why cant they just finish the fucking thing THEN release it?
why cant they just finish the fucking thing THEN release it?
cause its.... early access?
why cant they just finish the fucking thing THEN release it?
You will be dumbed to hell, and while I don't know about the Forest's case specifically, I agree with you. Early Access is bullshit. All it does is encourage somebody to make a game half way and then take the money and run, and there is jack shit that can be done about it. I know it is the consumer's choice to buy an unfinished game, but in the end if they do "take the money and run" the game will never be finished, thus letting down all those who were waiting for a full release. Early Access doesn't appease anybody. It is a bad concept in general, basically paying to be a Alpha/Beta tester for a game that may not ever see a full release.
You're buying the game in its current form, no more and no less. If you buy it on the expectation that something might get added, you can only blame yourself if it is not. Early access is designed to give developers extra funding through the life of the project because turns out its hard to develop a game on an afternoon's lunch budget and a couple of gift cards. At the same time, it allows them to get feedback from players as the game is developed to help determine the direction the game goes and help work out bugs. This stupid "Devs are just gonna steal the money and never finish the game." thing is slippery slope crap that almost never happens, and is the fault of the developers, not Early Access itself. So if you're getting dumbed for it, there just might be a reason.

Finally decided to buy it. Now to die over and over and love every second of it!
Also if you have your lighter out and press O, it'll play the animation when you light a campfire where your arm holding the lighter extends. I tried to light foliage and bodies on fire but it doesn't seem to do anything. Will we be able to ignite foliage in the future?
Initiate operation Scorched Earth. Let the cannibals have no place to hide.
Space engineers is a perfect counterpoint to everything you just said.
Minecraft is a perfect counter to Space Engineers. That is debatabley the first Early Access game in which people paid just to play the beta or alpha. What happened? The dev split with the money, leaving a half-finished game to be cleaned up by the rest of his studio. I am not saying it is a definite thing that a dev will quit out, but Early Access makes it far more likely and without Early Access, it could't actually be possible. The only other medium like it is Kickstarter, in which you pay to fund a game on the future promise that it will be good. I am not saying that Early Access directly makes everyone who uses it an asshole. That is why I said I don't know about the Forest's specific case. There are many Early Access titles that do go to completion, but there are many more who do not. My point is that, without Early Access, such a "take the money and run" option literally does not exist and is therefore impossible.
Whats up with the early access bullshit debate? If you cant READ, search a bit and make sure the game is going trough with a solid team and receiving updates before clicking the shiny buy button and then bitch about it being a unstable shit then seriously you are wrong Early Access allows a dev to earn income to substain himself AND the game you support the game, the dev and can give splendid feedback as the game developes that might end up even in new features! Thats what early access at its core is Now if lots of teams have gone batshit insane and start selling un-complete games or games that really dont fit the Early Access core i dont think early access should be blamed , more like the use devs make of it
I'd be more inclined to play if the enemies were nerfed a little, especially since they come at you in groups usually. Early Access has its uses, sure, it may be abused by some developers, but that is the risk you take if you don't research, Sure, if early access didn't exist, you wouldnt ever be able to get ripped off by incomplete alphas, but, if it didn't exist, some pretty damn good games would have simply not come out due to lack of funding.
I'm perfectly sane. :downs: *video*
Oh you can walk through your own traps? The skull and crossbones that appeared when you got close always made me think I'd get wrecked by my own traps if I went through them.
I see no problem with paying for unfinished games if the unfinished games are still fun as well for example : NEO Scavenger, Space Engineers, Godus, Planetary Annihilation, Overgrowth, Rust, Kenshi Some of them are more enjoyable than others but for such an insignificantly cheap price there still is a good amount of fun in early access games.
So is anyone still playing this? I'm still waiting for more content.
http://steamcommunity.com/games/242760/announcements/detail/1694793321424399170 update!
Man exploring caves while veganmode is on is still terrifying as fuck. I also found a really cool cave entrance. I'm not sure if all of the caves are connected, but this one I went through had a few different paths and large areas.
So is anyone still playing this? I'm still waiting for more content.
I've been waiting as well, but I might try again after this update. Does anyone know if that rebalance mod is still being worked on? I never got to try it out but it sounded good.
I like that a laptop is being used as a light source in the cave. Would be cool if they did even more with light sources. (find a laptop that survived plane crash, set it up, maybe play music off the music player on the laptop, and watch as the tribe people are drawn to it)
So yeah, your inventory now fully restores from loading a save, and the log cabin is a troll base because you can attack through the walls, sleep inside, put a fire if you want, and they can't figure out how to get in. One very nice thing is that, because inventory now loads properly, if you've found a spear at one of the fishing ponds or the tent on the beach, you keep it which means you don't have to track it down again. It makes keeping yourself supplied with food ridiculously easy. Also, the simple/head effigy turns in to an Arm Effigy for some reason. And I can confirm that there are groups of mutants/cannibals/whatever that are neutral and will actually approach you in curiosity. Sometimes they'll kneel for you and stay that way. Though if you attack them they will retaliate.
Would you guys suggest buying this at it's current state? Heard it's pretty buggy, but it's Alpha so I guess you can look pass that. How is the content? Plenty of stuff to do or does it get dull fast?

I'm happy with my purchase!
Is it just me or has the cave systems been expanded quite a bit, also houseboats apparently aren't craftable still
Do you guys think bows and arrows would be a feasible weapon to add into the game?
Probably, but it'd have to be balanced by the hostile npcs being able to throw shit or use them as well.
Seems like all berries are bad now and the hunger meter depletes itself in a matter of minutes
Seems like all berries are bad now and the hunger meter depletes itself in a matter of minutes
Hunger does go down very quickly, but no, not all berries are bad.
Yeah my bad about the berries, I ate the wrong ones altogether But the hunger is ridiculously fast at depleting, it's not even fun
jesus christ i ate like 4 lizards today and im still dying from hunger
Also, seems that either having two gardens breaks all of them, or you can only collect from them two or three times. They replenish a decent amount of energy, though not much hunger.
I had all my good berries turn into poisonous ones after loading up my save again. Needless to say, my stomach wasn't very happy about me not noticing fast enough.
Tried this game today (didn't play since 0.01) Hunger ran out insanely fast, and I died from a 5 foot drop. I know the hunger quickly draining is a thing, but the fall damage is insane. Full health, and 3 bits of armour. All gone from a 5-6 foot drop. Then it spawned me next to one of those multi-leg / arm creatures in a cave. *flick flick* "OH WHAT THE SHIT" -YOU SURVIVED 1 DAY DUN DUN DUN-
