So, apparently, its a strategy to stay back while the rest of the team dies, and to have the situational awareness of a stump.
Like, what the fuck am I supposed to do when I get ganked left and right and can't farm. You forget that 6.87 gave KotL more movespeed and Wind Lace and 6.88 gave him more int (more base autoattack damage and mana) and a much shorter Chakra cooldown, compared to 6.86 where he hadn't gotten either of those things, i.e. making a mana leak-heavy harass build much stronger

ET's pretty popular right now because he's a very tanky support with a strong, long range initiation and even stronger follow up. on top of that his passive aura is arguably one of the best passives in the game because it destroys high natural armour carries (that is, carries that get all of their armour from their agility stat, think morphling or TB) and the magic resistance reduction is also just a generally good bonus for your team too.

personally i feel he gets picked up a lot becuase of how strong his stomp is right now. the aura is really fucking good but i feel its more of an A+ bonus on top of the strong initiation and counter initiation utility that stomp provides.

scales into the late game as well, which is fantastic for a support hero.

I have seen AM getting amazing GPM since forever, but yeah the players at my bracket farm so fucking slowly it's enraging.
Doesn't happen 100% of the time, but I feel it happens more than it should, Maybe because I expect too much from randoms, like anything short of a perfect lane and their farm will be mediocre at best, and if they had a bad one they will make zero attempt to recover by say, farming the jungle or moving to another lane.

Isn't popularity ruled by how deceptively easy and useful a hero could be?

For example, most people pick invoker because swiss army knife, but I'm willibg to bet they do it for the sick show off aswell. Same for pudge.
And both of those heroes seem to be getting easier by the minute, with buffs to the hero itself or to the items. Hell, pudge's hook seems to grow in reach every game, both in length and width. Hitboxes must lag behind a bit, because he always manages to grab me by the air right behind me.

Wisp on the other hand is a whole different thing.

Pudge's hook has always been like that, same as Mirana's arrow. If the collision radius was 1:1 with the object it would probably make them too difficult to land. Maybe it would be an idea to try substituting the large collision with faster movement to reduce those visibly bullshit moments.
