I think one really interesting thing that "volleyball" game brings up is how weird height refs are going to be in VR. In a normal game, you designate your characters height and your models heights in some kind of scale and you build things around the height of the character that every player experiences exactly the same. In VR, the system handles the height of the player (usually) meaning people developing might use themselves as a reference and you could experience something like going to another country. It was always funny watching top gear specials in places around asia when Jeremy Clarkson tried to fit into the buildings designed for an average height like 2 feet shorter than him :v:
Smash party is P. fucking good
Is Arizona Sunshine worth the full price ?
Is Arizona Sunshine worth the full price ?
Depends. It's one of the few VR shooters with a full singleplayer / coop campaign. More polished than your average VR content, but not quite as polished as other games at that price point.
Just keep mashing technologies together and we might end up with something good:
Having an AI chat NPC would be really fun in a social app. Like an NPC bartender you could talk shit with in Rec Room or Altspace.
That's one of those things I never realized I needed in my life.

Visited VRchat. Went to a bar with some people in. A few minutes later a horde of 2D Hatsune Mikus come in spinning leeks and create a portal somewhere. I jump in and arrive in a white room with at least 15 Mikus chanting "one of us". Then my avatar got changed to a 2D Miku. There is no escape.
browsing kickstarter and apparently someone is making a steam VR headset system that uses your phone and various VR phone helmets https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/243372678/nolo-affordable-motion-tracking-for-mobile-and-ste?ref=recs kinda weird i guess, means you have a wireless cheap vive. apparently was already demoed at CES.
I'm so incredibly fucking tempted to get this. I'd given up on finding a way to make a cheap setup but as of right now I have $100 extra I could spend on this [editline]a[/editline] Backed it, will report back in May.
I was running around VRchat in a tiny, fat, badly animated bunny while making tongue licking noises and hiding under tables drinking bottles of alcohol. Half the server ended up trying to steal my bottle of alcohol, running after me with sticks in their hands. With one guy in the background actually crying in laughter because of "that fucking bunny". Also, some streamer seems to have encountered the Miku horde a few hours after me. Warthunder legitimately makes me angry [editline]8th February 2017[/editline] Why is it that the defaults for controller inputs have 2 missing keyboard inputs that I have to get a giant yellow warning for Jesus Christ
Probably nothing of significance, but Digitalcybercherries (New Retro Arcade) tweeted this photo then deleted it shortly afterwards they then posted the same tweet with a different photo. After months of saving im probably going to go pick up the Vive later tonight! :joy:
Things are heating up under Magic Leap. Sadly bullshit is still bullshit even when it's warm :v: [editline]8th February 2017[/editline] Must suck for the engineers though. Their marketing keeps running its mouth.

I'm not sure if the cat is 3D and the animations glitched and stopped playing, or it was real and it died.
You can finally buy replacement shit for the rift. https://www.oculus.com/accessories/
one of us one of us
Im having tons of tracking issues. woo. :suicide:
Im having tons of tracking issues. woo. :suicide:
Any reflective surfaces? I had to cover a large mirror in my room with wrapping paper.
Any reflective surfaces? I had to cover a large mirror in my room with wrapping paper.
nope. I tried using the sync cable to see if it would improve and had no luck.
Im having tons of tracking issues. woo. :suicide:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2001-UXCM-4439 tldr Corners on the ceiling 45 degrees down point them towards eachother I put them a little wee bit away from the wall (like 1-3 inches)
To clarify the issues Im having I get a almost flying away effect randomly mostly with the headset and sometimes with the controllers if Im low to the ground. Ive updated all hardware firmwares and started to use the sync cable with no improvements.
Got punched by someone in VR for the first time today. Who knew game development was so dangerous.

I have to say my bed set up is both convenient for VR yet extremely awkward its nice to be able to quickly throw it into storage but its so small though
tldr

That happens to me when I accidentally knock the cable and make one of the light houses move abit.
Could my figures and other junk be interfering with the stations?? [t]http://i.imgur.com/V0gyhJG.jpg[/t] Ive tilted both of them down more since taking this picture.
Imagine a line connecting from the station to the furthest edge of the top of that shelf. Now extend that line in a straight direction. Anything below that imaginary plane can't be seen, and is occluded from tracking properly. [editline]9th February 2017[/editline] You when tracking is good: You when tracking is bad:
