Imagine a line connecting from the station to the furthest edge of the top of that shelf. Now extend that line in a straight direction. Anything below that imaginary plane can't be seen, and is occluded from tracking properly.

That shouldn't be a problem if the two lighthouses are setup correctly (diagonally). This isn't a front facing setup.
The only occlusion you will get from that setup is if you have your arm hidden from the lighthouse with unrestricted fov
To clarify the issues Im having I get a almost flying away effect randomly mostly with the headset and sometimes with the controllers if Im low to the ground. Ive updated all hardware firmwares and started to use the sync cable with no improvements.
have you got any mirrors, shiny surfaces or large windows (i know the windows thing is stupid to ask). I had the same issue, there is a giant mirror on my wall where my vive is set up and it causes the tracking to go ape shit.
I've been randomly catapulted into the air (in the vive) multiple times and almost threw up everywhere, put a big blanket over the mirror and never had the issue since
My older setup was perfect since it actually kept full track of my movement, but I had to change it around a little and now some positions make my controllers drift considerably, but it's not unusable by any stretch.
It's all fairly temporary anyway since I'll probably be moving out by a year or two and will (hopefully) have a room dedicated to it.

Check other USB ports.

I have a small window across from the desk.

Ill cover it up and see if that helps with the tracking issues the whole being catapulted is the exact issue im facing.
Aren't the Lighthouse stations supposed to be basically vertical, not tilted?
So covering the window seems to have helped the tracking issue but now my controllers are randomly turning off (they're fully charged) while in use... also the steam in game menu is really jittery at times and even locks up for a few seconds.
The John Wick VR game is up on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/382360/
Though it's 20 bucks for a wave shooter...

it felt like a stastionary arazona sunshine with unlimited ammo. the game uses lots of tracks from payday 2 which felt weird, and the guy on the radio com started to get annoying after repeating the same lines over and over. its a "dont forget to reload, dr freeman" kind of annoying.
i still like it though because i love john wick

I'm glad to see stuff like this. I was very concerned back when Facebook first acquired Oculus, but not so much anymore. They're at least taking their investment seriously.
I also like the bit about "glasses you take anywhere". The sooner we get away from Sensors, Lighthouses and play spaces, the better IMO.
Also finger tracking gloves in one pic
Also, glove controller prototype. Neat
We're working on new ways to bring your hands in virtual and augmented reality. Wearing these gloves, you can draw, type on a virtual keyboard, and even shoot webs like Spider Man. That's what I'm doing here.
if your room is small dont get john wick. i have the bare minimum size playspace on the vive.
theres no teleporting mechanic. the first level is p much hard as shit simply due to the fact you can't get behind cover after the elevator is up and everything thrown at you is a armored guy.
The game is overall pretty good though when i am able to play it, i get payday goodies too so no issue here.
i plan to get a new VR space soon (moving to a new room in the house) so i will no longer ever have a issue involving space and all the problems above will fade.
edit:
i just remembered, there was a time where something threw a grenade into my area and i couldn't pick it up because small room space. good shit.

It doesn't matter whether it's a camera or lasers, front facing or opposing, if the FOV coming out of the tracking system is a cone and if you put the top of a shelf in the way of it it's gonna fuck you up
This is a pretty cool way to stick your logo in the office :v:

Glad to see Abrash's team is using that FB backing to its fullest. The goal might be 'glasses small enough to take anywhere', but it'll be some product cycles before we get there. It'll be great to follow their development the coming years.

Note that the glove tracking pick just uses an off-the-shelf system called OptiTrack. It's easy for them to prototype software with that (like interaction design tests), you can easily stick a marker on something and have it tracked. It's not a prototype for consumer hardware.
So I recently built a 3D Printer and thus I ask, does any one have a good rifle style stock for holding the Oculus Touch that they would be willing to share? (For Onward etc.) Thought I'd ask before I start designing my own.

kinda weird i guess, means you have a wireless cheap vive. apparently was already demoed at CES.
[U]How do they overcome the processing problems?
You need at least a 970 and an i5 for the vive and stuff, how can a phone, even a Pixel or another high end phone, compete

^^^
I'm wrong here, they use a system that streams it from your pC

don't hold your breath on anything Abrash says. Look for other experts. There isn't much of a difference between him and magic leap.

he was good enough for Valve and Microsoft
saying what your aspirations are isn't the same thing as promising a fake product
Rec Room has added a Quest Mode. You can party with other players and defeat monsters in a dungeon with swords and bows, with the goal to reach the golden trophy at the end.

What? The "glasses" quote is from Zuckerberg actually, and that was more a stated goal than 'something we have now'. Abrash doesn't promise a product, he just makes predictions of what technology might be capable in a few years, based on his team's research.
"So one of the questions you might ask us is 'Why in the world are we making hardware?' So right now, we're building 3 VR games. And what we can do now is to be designing hardware at the same time that we're designing software. This is something that Miyamoto has always had, right?"
The rec room quest is fun as fuck in a good party. In the most teamworky party we got to the last boss before being defeated, but there was another party that I couldn't even get past stage 1 with since they didn't use mics, didn't coordinate and didn't bother reviving teammates.
Strongly recommend trying the gamemode out.
We could always try to put together some Facepunch party to do it, if enough people are interested.
