you shouldn't be trying to use Oculus Home with the DK2; it is made for the consumer product you need to find a safe download someplace for the Oculus Runtime 0.7 (and not install Home) [editline]29th August 2016[/editline] it doesn't detect the "sensor camera" because you don't actually have the CV1 sensor camera
Ooooh... Well 0.7 is on the actual oculus site so ill go from there :v:
be sure to uninstall the previous runtime that Home installed before installing 0.7
edit: nevermind it was the fact i didnt have the sync cable plugged in! Does it need to be plugged in at all times
well i'm just saying that a lot of the demos i sent you won't work on 0.8+ runtimes
well i'm just saying that a lot of the demos i sent you won't work on 0.8+ runtimes
I have got that fancy runtime switcher installed and everything is working all good finally.
Can confirm laptop exceeds expectations in steamvr benchmarks, runs fantastic in vesper peak demo, and is just generally all around tops. One thing that was kinda funny is steamvr benchmark incorrectly (otherwise ofc it wouldn't have passed) reported the intel hd 530 also present as the GPU used for the test, so according to valve the hd 530 is now vr ready v:v:v
This will save me so much money
Train simulator devs on suicide watch. In all seriousness though I'll definitely check it out, I haven't tried any of the "make a model set then put yourself in it" vr genre yet so it's something I'm excited for
Any way to make the steam overlay open when using a keyboard in SteamVR? I don't feel like playing Elite Dangerous with an xbox controller
Oh fuck, Onward goes on sale tonight at midnight PST: http://steamcommunity.com/games/496240/announcements/detail/812159631366793436 its this realistic MP shooter in case you forgot
Have they announced a price? [editline]30th August 2016[/editline] Honestly I'm kind of glad there's at least SOMEONE who is saying "fuck you" to locomotion standards and just making a big expansive game for people who can handle it. I've got strong VR legs and basically cannot get sick at this point, I don't really like having my game selection being gimped just because others can't handle it. Locomotion options should be inclusive and comfortable when possible, but I'd rather have a game that makes some people sick than no game at all.
I agree. I waited up all night and didn't realize it until just a few minutes ago it was PST and I'm pretty tired. I've been waiting for Onward since I saw it posted here. I wonder how much it will be. It's been awhile since I used my Vive but holy shit everytime I do I'm reminded how awesome VR is.
Onward is $25 on Steam and I really don't know how I feel about that :v:
dolphin vr is probably the coolest thing i've tried so far (haven't played even a tenth of the games i've downloaded/bought for it though :v:), playing mario kart 64 being able to look around is really neat too bad my computer can't really catch up, some massive emulation drops at places, but i can't justify spending $1000 on an upgrade
Whats the main difference between the A lenses and B lenses on the DK2?

Also you need a DX12 compatible vid card, IE a 970 or 1060.

why does everyone underestimate the r9 290, it's cheaper and better at dx12 than the 970.
Whats the main difference between the A lenses and B lenses on the DK2?
just try them both out and see which makes objects (both close and far) look better if you buy a consumer headset of either brand, and normally wear glasses/contacts, there are ways to clip in corrective lenses into your headset there's a company called VRLensLab who makes overpriced lenses for you that don't clip into the Rift CV1 very well, but there's also a way to order a 3D print of a proper clip-in lens frame for the CV1 and to order cheap lenses i've heard the cheaper 3D printing option actually works better, but you can't get very complex lenses if you needed them [editline]30th August 2016[/editline]
ah, well i'm not gonna get any of those so this will do fine
windows 10 is nicer except for the part where it will totally fuck up the upgrade, requiring you to do a total reinstall
OH shit Onward is great. It's a definitely early Alpha but it was fun. I didn't get long to try just the shooting range and two games. It's so cool. I was like against a wall as a Russian and saw an M16 barrel sticking up over the wall so I rushed the corner and shot two guys dead. V of A
UploadVR is pretty positive about Damaged Core: http://uploadvr.com/damaged-core-review-final/
UploadVR thinks everything is awesome. Then again, the game is getting very positive feedback from people playing it, so it might actually be worth buying.

And unless you have crazy big frames, glasses fit just fine in the vive
Onward is the best game for VR so far if you ask me. Maybe I'm just excited because I just got it but it's really good. It's Alpha, so you have to accept that. There are some performance issues, lots of bugs and there is only one gamemode which is some sort of objective thingy and literally no one plays it because they rather Deathmatch (Which is the better way to play honestly) I just played for like four hours. [editline]30th August 2016[/editline]
Prescription lenses from anyone is expensive, I doubt they are overpriced. And unless you have crazy big frames, glasses fit just fine in the vive
I don't recommend using glasses if you can help it. I have been and they work fine but on my original Vive I scratched the lense up on both my glasses and the lenses on the Vive by wearing my glasses. The LensLab is probably worth it. They want €68 for the prescription lenses and adapter so about $80USD Very reasonable. When I got prescription inserts for my sports goggles it came out a little over $100. So with shipping that puts LensLab in line with all other prescription inserts.
VRLensLab is cheap in comparison to buying a VR computer, headset, controllers, and games. Regardless, that company's Rift lenses (according to a bunch of people online) are too loose in their design compared to a 3D printed alternative that you can clip in instead. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1602460 The Zenni Optical prescription lenses linked in that description cost only $15, and apparently work great for this purpose. So if you are buying VR because you can only barely afford it (but want to have it anyway), the 3D printed option for 15$ (plus what it would cost to order the 3D model printed and mailed by one of many services that will do this for you, to the tune of 15-20$) may be both better and cheaper. VRLensLab's Vive lens kit might be better than the one they made for the Rift. Actually, upon going to their website it looks like they've actually removed their Rift kit from sale. Perhaps they're working on fixing their design.

I don't get why they didn't just wait for Touch to drop, this seems like a waste of a launch.
Hasn't it been agreed upon since DK2 era that head-aim sucks? I don't get why they didn't just wait for Touch to drop, this seems like a waste of a launch.
It works really well with third person locomotion games, since the aim target and movement controls/visuals are still separated. A key example is Edge of Nowhere. A better point is that they're probably wanting to smooth out their games release schedule instead of releasing a huge pile of Touch games at once. The game is ready, so why not release it now for immediate sales and give their customers time to rest their wallets before buying more games later? They can still add Touch support later, and then they've got a game out at a more profitable time (being a game produced by Oculus) that can appeal to their customers who both do or don't own Touch.
We did an open house last night and we had 2 people demoing vive systems in gigantic room scale, one being me. The demo was run for hours on my laptop without issue, and my laptop was doing the more demanding demo :v: Everybody always loves the dog in the lab, one woman said word for word "I could totally play fetch with this dog for hours". VR pet simulators confirmed for best use of technology I guess
Onward looks like how a VR FPS should be like.
