I was told this game is already available for PC under the name VR.Kanojo.

Nah, VR Kanojo was made by Illusion, a jap porn game company. I bet my PSN wallet fund it would be mostly porn, and less romance.
You guys go try it for me though, I don't have oculus
I filed my taxes and should be getting a decent return. I'm gonna dump it into the CV1 Rift/Touch bundle.
the full vrkanojo came out almost a month ago and if you're willing to spend 50 big ones for some virtual tiddies, then go for it. it's on the vive and oculus at the moment. also, like hakim said, vrkanojo was made by illusion, but illusion picked up the offer to put tiddies in it after bandai made the original summer lesson.
if you really want to get in on the vr girlfriend experience, (unless you're stuck with a psvr only) don't buy summer lesson and buy vrkanojo. summer lesson is pretty much a softcore version of vrkanojo.
also, now that we're talking about vrkanojo, i saw this on their website yesterday and i have to post it here: NSFW
what a time to be alive
Finally got around to try the Vive (there really isn't a lot of demo stands around but I found one that opens for this weekend only)
What a revolutionary experience, they only had some normie WW2 and bow-n-arrow demos but it probably channeled my entire reserve of autism when I geeked out in front of a bunch of strangers
Its more tempting than ever to get a Vive

This truly is the pinnacle of VR. :v:
Oh wow, the guy actually recorded my rabbit shenanigans in VRchat last month. 6:54 onwards is when shit gets real. He seems to think I'm Russian because of my accent at 8:55->

Holy crap I couldn't breathe during that chase. My cheeks hurt.
Apparently NASA is using the Vive to train astronauts for missions to the ISS, which is pretty neat!

You know, what really ruins VR Chat and AltspaceVR (Except for Dormin, that guy is awesome) for me is the fact that they have people on desktop clients all around. In Rec Room you can interact with anyone in this dynamic way, while those games have often just a fraction of people actually using a motion tracked setup, taking most of the fun out of it.
Oculus has a 1-year anniversary sale going on right now

VR Fight of the Century tbh

Carmack's magic touch doubles the resolution of Oculus Home on the Gear VR
[editline]30th March 2017[/editline]
Cohen clarified that only Oculus Home is currently benefiting from Carmack’s resolution wizardry and it is only available on Gear VR. However, the technique may be applied in other experiences or headsets over time.
Another interesting contribution to the world of VR advertisements.

Don't think this surprises anyone.
Was bound to happen, especially after that debacle during the election. Luckily there are plenty of other interesting people to follow in VR now, but I'm still going to miss his brand of enthusiasm.
He's alright in my books, shitposting and goofy antics aside he did a lot to push VR into the mainstream and was genuinely invested in VR becoming better. I hope his leaving was voluntary

Facebook declined to comment on that, so it might have been a "resign in peace or we fire you" kind of deal.
Instead of doing that right away, they waited for a few months for the election shitstorm to die off to minimize any PR loss.
He's kind of taken a backseat to Carmack and the other big players lately, so I can't say this is too much of a shock. Maybe if he were still in the limelight, and hadn't been gearing down for the past year or two, but he's been basically nonexistent.
He'll probably go off and do the Notch thing now, shouting at clouds on Twitter.
And here I'm, not caring about Carmack or Palmer, never really caring about kickstarter and VR, until Valve announced their headset. Without Valve I probably would still not care much, until maybe 1-3 years after consumer release.
Valve endorsed the Oculus Kickstarter in the beginning, they were the first company to bring some big VR titles in the form of Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 VR ports.
I was convinced by Carmack's Quakecon keynote that year to get into VR early. Haven't regret it.
Still respect Valve to produce those nice big games.
Although HTC said that Valve should stoop down and not make big games with big budgets to 'match current VR market', but I think it's just them butthurting.

HTC seemed to aim that comment more at Oculus funding strategy, not at Valve's plans.
And we still don't really know what Valve's plans are. They have several VR games in production, but how big are they truly? Even the more expensive stuff Oculus funded, like Robo Recall, matched AAA quality but are not AAA in scope. That's a big money sink and VR doesn't have the install base to take on that risk yet.

Regardless of which platform you prefer, we all owe Palmer for what he did. He's the one that proved that their was interest in VR and that it was going to be viable. Without him, we wouldn't have VR, we wouldn't even have the HTC Vive.
I'm a Vive user, and I really don't understand the elitism that comes from either side.
I really hate exclusivity in general, it does nothing but hurt the other platform. Fanboyism doesn't help either.

Meh, I don't like the "exclusivity hurts the other platform" argument. It's "exclusivity makes one platform more attractive". If that's good for the market overall is the debatable point.

I've spoken to a lot of people that said they were alienated by what appears to be another console war forming on what's incredible expensive hardware, including 3 people at my company where we work on AR/VR technology. I think it would nuts to ignore the potential damage it's doing to the VR market. That being said, because the vive can technically play Oculus "exclusives" and Valve isn't taking part in exclusive dickery at all, it's nowhere near as bad as consoles. Still, it might not seem that way to someone who's looking to drop hundreds of dollars on a new type of gaming that's not nearly as proven out.

Quite the contrary, exclusivity can stifle competition if taken too far and no competition means no innovation.
I'm not saying that's specifically the case with Oculus vs HTC/Valve - Oculus did actively backtrack on trying to block Revive - However if either sided gets too aggressive with exclusivity it could be really bad for the market.

That's understandable, luckily they're working with the Khronos group to standardise VR support soon enough.
Have to remind people that Oculus wanting to form an Apple-like ecosystem is a story that's almost entirely made up by a part of the community. Standards in computer hardware and software do not exist by default. In the early days of home computing, hardware and software wasn't as interchangeable as it is today. Luckily the computer industry, unlike maaaany other industries, seems to converge on common standards over time. Same is happening with VR but people need to give it time.

Yeah and as a developer myself I've even said in this thread several times that I totally understand Oculus wanting to have full control over their own APIs to ensure quality of their product, but there's a whole lot more attached to the idea of exclusivity than just standardized interfaces. Oculus is funding in exchange for intentional exclusivity, which is another thing entirely.
