The Rick and Morty VR game is fucking great, probably one of the best experiences I've had with a headset so far.
Nice, any replayability to it? I heard it's pretty short.
Also I bought the Vive, and damn it's amazing. Extremely immersive with the controller compared to my old DK2. After playing for a few hours I even feel, well, strange when I take it off. Like it feel weird to be able to see my arms in my peripheral view. And when I've been walking through and putting my hands through so many objects in the game it feels pretty strange when I reach for my phone for example. My brain is telling me that my hand will go right through it, but when I touch it, it feels wrong somehow.. pretty fun and strange. Probably something that'll go away as I get more used to it.
Anyone else that felt similar in the beginning?

Yeah I felt like that after my first couple days, but it went away after awhile. I still feel a bit odd when I take my headset off after a lengthy session though.

It's job simulator to the core - expect a good (and really fun) 2 hours or so of content and secret finding, then have it hang around as a demo game for new players to try.
here's all the vrchat avatars i've made so far

About two hours to get through the story mode. Replay value comes from all the voicelines you can miss, a ton of stuff in free play, getting all the cassette tapes and Easter eggs, all the achievements, the Roy knockoff you can play, and just fucking around in general.
The combination machine and mister youseeks make for a ton of fun by themselves.

I only watched maybe half of the first season. Is the game full of in-jokes that I probably wouldn't understand?
I know this isn't the place for it but I bought Tabletop Simulator for VR and finally ended up playing it (without VR). Fun ass game. Learned to play some DOOM board game, made a DnD char, and played some Cards Against Humanity
I'd be down for some Tabletop VR if anyone wants to set up a game sometime.
How is Tabletop Sim Pictionary in VR? Like, how does the pen work? Does it do that Surgeon Sim VR sort of thing where if your hand goes in an impossible place it just stops moving?

What are some good games/experiences to introduce people to vr (vive)?
Richie's Plank Experience. Every person I've used that on as their first intro has said "I didn't think it would be THAT convincing."

This was my first too, I ended up crouch walking on the plank with my hands feeling for the floor for some reason until my friend pushed me over and I almost had a heart attack
I'm kind of tempted to get Arkham VR. I know it's absurdly short but I'm kind of a sucker for those types of demonstrations.
As for Rick and Morty, I got about 6 hours out of it to get all the achievements. The last one is seemingly bugged at the moment and can't be unlocked so I'll have to wait until it's fixed, but I otherwise did everything warranting an achievement which as far as I can tell covers practically everything the game has to offer. Good shit.
I had my first injury with VR yesterday. I was playing Onward because I haven't had the chance in awhile. I was trying to figure out the changes in walking speed. Turns out now that if you're holding your weapon up you crawl so in order to move at any reasonable speed you need to hold your gun pointed down. As someone who shoots a lot of guns I can tell you that this does not work at all in VR because to raise your gun in VR your hands are not connected by anything so it's incredibly hard to get a reliable sight picture whereas with a real gun you're actually holding something so it's a lot easier to quickly lift your gun to aim. Just doesn't work at all in VR makes playing Onward really hard to play now.
Anyway, I was in the shoot house practicing how it worked when my Mom came down and scared me, because she knows I have the headphones on and the set on my eyes and when I started playing I was home alone. So I jumped when she did it, and when I landed I put all my weight on my big toe and my nail basically got jammed into my toe hard as fuck and split.
I fell over and when I was on the ground I was bleeding like fucking crazy and my toe was purple already so I had assumed I broke my fucking toe. I was bleeding like, thick red blood and it was running down my foot. I legit went into shock for a minute and lost hearing in my right hear and felt sick. It bled pretty heavy for like an hour afterwards and would pick up once in awhile depending on how I had my foot positioned.
So. That sucked. Don't scare people when they have VR on because holy shit you can get hurt.

I don't think you know what a "legit"(circulatory) shock is. Unless you failed to mention the trip to the ER?

You know shock is a vocabulary term too used to describe surprise or upset right?
But I did legit lose hearing and was just out of it for a few minutes though.

I'm telling a story about stubbing my toe not writing an article for a medical journal. It's not a big deal.

You said "legit" shock. As in, not just your ordinary "shock". You also said you "went into" shock. A phrase that doesn't generally apply to the feeling described as shock, but rather the literal medical condition.
I'll quote the google define for you:
"Circulatory shock, commonly known as shock, is a life-threatening medical condition of low blood perfusion to tissues resulting in cellular injury and inadequate tissue function."
[editline]24th April 2017[/editline]
Stupping your toe is not the same as hypovolemic shock.

Who cares if he's not using the medically correct term on the internet
You got me. I used the wrong word in a description of stubbing my toe. My facade is crumbling and I'm left exposed as the fraud I am.
Who knows what sort of irreversible harm I could've caused to the thread- no, the world had my lies been left unchallenged.

You were making a drama out of stubbing your toe.
No they weren't, but you were.
You were making a drama out of stubbing your toe.
lmao no one fucking cares except you
and that tells everyone a lot about who's really behind this "drama" over it

Why do you have to be so goddamn toxic all the time man
On-topic, is there still a lack of good swordfighting VR games? Most sword fighting games felt very.. weightless and not-tactile? I mean there's always going to be a lack of weight, but Gorn felt really really good to hit shit.
Has anyone tried Vanishing Realms?

during a hackathon my friend was using a vive for about 4 or 5 hours straight, and even fell asleep in it
when we were packing up he was just zoned out on a table trying to put his hand through a red bull can and saying "this isn't real"
I'm still a bit bummed I never really got to experience that detachment from reality so many people talk about, not for a lack of immersion or enjoyment but I never got to the point where I forget I just got a headset strapped to my face
Though I still instinctively try to hold onto imaginary furniture from time to time but usually realize it's a bad idea before it's too late

Someone actually was sleeping in VRchat a few days ago. Completely motionless AFK and you could just hear snoring from his headset microphone
