That Hello Systems logo hurts my graphic design sensibility so hard.
Made a VR game for Ludum Dare. It's about grabbing peeps, placing them on missile batteries, and shooting down UFOs that threaten to decrease property value on your island.

Oculus Rift + Touch only (sorry), since I wanted to play around with the Oculus Avatar SDK for the hands.

There's just one issue: the build fucking crashes on my computer. Works fine in the Unity editor but can't get the build to work :(. Does it run for anyone else?

Are you building out to 32 bit? In any case the logfile for your built game might explain the crash if you haven't checked that.

Oculus Avatar stuff requires compiling with x64. I checked the logs but can't see anything as of yet.
Stupid thing is that if I press "Build And Run" in Unity, it launches the build fine. If I try to run the exe afterwards, it crashes. It's bullshit and it's 4:25 AM here so the world can go suck a dick for now while I crash onto my bed.
Why do you have to be so goddamn toxic all the time man
On-topic, is there still a lack of good swordfighting VR games? Most sword fighting games felt very.. weightless and not-tactile? I mean there's always going to be a lack of weight, but Gorn felt really really good to hit shit.
Has anyone tried Vanishing Realms?
Hey brah, Vanishing Realms is quite fun, it is more than just sword fighting. It's a pretty good VRRPG, I would get it on sale if you can.

Oh I know there was more to it than sword fighting, it looked really cool and a decent melee system would definitely seal the deal for me. I think a friend of mine has it, I may just gameshare it. :)
I'd be down for some Tabletop VR if anyone wants to set up a game sometime.
I'll be hosting Machi Koro on Tabletop Sim tonight if anyone wants to play in VR. It's a city building card game, very simple. You can buy a building card each turn, which each have their own activatable special effect if you roll the number on the top of the card.
Managed to fix my game build! Turned out to be some weird behaviour with the headset going in / coming out of standby. Fixed it by simply adding another camera to the scene that only renders to the main display.

I got a PSVR and a PS4 Pro a couple of weeks ago and I've been playing a lot of Werewolves Within.
If anyone wants to add me on PSN my ID is Claugustus.
Releasing today: Wilson's Heart, a 10 hour story game by Oculus. It looks nice but like the reviews say the combat mechanics are boring and drag it back; would've been better without combat at all.
Also today: Some Batman VR game I've never heard of. People are saying that it's really short but really well made, and the trailer seems to imply the same.
Later: Star Trek Bridge Crew, and here's the first real gameplay video:

This game looks a lot more interesting than I originally thought. Too bad I can barely stand horror games in traditional form :v:
[editline]25th April 2017[/editline]
Would instantly buy into a more action-horror like VR game though, something like Dead Space.

I tried getting the new resident evil to work in VR and realized I don't fucking want it to
Rec Room might be the greatest thing I've experienced in VR so far.
Is it just me or are there like, no interesting games being developed or announced? Maybe I'm out of the loop but nothing seems to be happening in the VR world aside from repeated clones of wave shooters and baby's first Unity games lol

Arkham VR is not what I'd qualify as a groundbreaking, exemplar VR experience.
It's fun for what it is, but it's also fucking expensive and crazy short.
Couldn't you just play it once and refund it?
The game seems to only be ~1 hour of content. Steam's refund policy is within 2 hours.
I would probably keep it to demo it for friends and family.
You could if you're a dick and want to exploit the refund system.
It takes about 45 minutes to get through the story once, and quite a bit more if you want to proceed with all the riddler trophies.
My main problem with it lies in how limited its use of VR is. Really threw me off how you can't even pick items off the floor because you're so unnaturally high above everything.
What we need is a true sandbox game with cool abilities that really take advantage of the touch controllers. Like some sort of superhero game?
Damn that Arktika game looks cool af

I wouldn't say "wow I paid $20 and all I got was less than an hour of gameplay time because I'm not a completionist what the fuck and also the VR in this game designed to show off VR is kinda shit" is a bad reason to refund a game.

Well you did ask explicitly about "in development or announced" games...

Playing it once with the INTENT to refund it before you bought it is fraud.

To enhance the immersion turn up the heat in the room and don't take off the headset for hours while you sit in the tank idling waiting for orders and never shoot the guns without explicit permission.

Yeah if you actually regret the purchase because you had a bad experience and think it wasn't worth the money or your time sure, but the guy suggested one could just play the game, appreciate it, and then refund it to basically enjoy a free experience. Which is doable, but a dick move (steam will also catch up on it if you do it too often and remove your refund rights).

Utilising both the lack of motion sickness a cockpit gives you, and the motion controllers. Interactive cockpits need to be done way more. I bloody love how this game is turning out.

That would be great with multiplayer too. Have a seated gunner, driver and a commander. Like the Star Trek game.

Wonder when we'll hear more from Lone Echo. I'd love to use the zero-G movement like in Mission ISS in a full fledged singleplayer game.
