Same idea but these videos don't have plastic balls on the faces of the actors.
I gave Freedom Locomotion a try and was expecting it to make me feel sick since I'd heard it did that for a lot of people, but I surprisingly did pretty well with it. The controls are kinda off though, like I couldn't climb onto things that well despite moving the platforms under me and I got stuck in things a lot. Really would need to smooth things like that out before I'd be able to really enjoy using it.
Just signed my contract with Vertigo Games. Starting there in July :)
Grats. What is your job there? Coder?
Yup, programmer.

holy shit.
It's happening so fucking fast, I love it.
I really can't wait for higher resolution displays. I'm getting kind of sick of the screendoor effect on my Vive.

It can make reading fine details strenuous
WHoever said that Omnidirectional treadmills are the best soution for walking in VR is fucking stupid. It's so complicated to figure how to actually walk forward and when you do figure it out you're slipping and sliding all over the treadmill
Im not sure I've seen anyone post it here yet but To The Top has probably been one of the most fun VR experiences I've ever played. It's an insanely fast climber/platformer thingy that so far has been pretty easy on the stomach. Full disclosure, I have some pretty solid VR legs.

Not only is it a pretty incredible experience to soar through the level, leaping from platform to platform feels so good.

The second one feels like looking at a book while the first feels so obvious that it's a screen. amazing difference

THey are the best solution. Just no one figured out how to make them good yet.

Honestly, I can't wait for the next headset with this screen. It's going to be mindblowing. I don't care if it's going to be same FOV or not, but give me this, wireless maybe, and maybe eye tracking and I will be happy for long.
How many titans is it going to take to play games on it though

I'm honestly not that worried about this detail. VR is obviously an enthusiast niche so far, so needless to say it's going to require best-of-the-best computers. Yet, my 1070 (which for its power really isn't that expensive) can run every VR game I got flawlessly. I can't jack up supersampling honestly, but at default settings, everything works fine. I know this resolution will crank up the power needed, but I feel like the market will settle to that point sooner rather than later.

They're the best we have just now. Though some are better than others - things like the Virtuix Omni are stupid.

Considering that Tobii already has really solid eye tracking working on current Vive's, the next round of headsets that would be using the higher res screens would probably utilise eye tracking for foveated rendering.
The two go hand in hand, hardware developers know this so they're not going to push new headsets until the two techs are ready.

There are other options besides the Omni? I haven't heard of anything except it.

Not exactly consumer friendly though. That and external reviewers have a hard time getting used to it, these guys are obviously got used to it. Systems like this are a step in the right direction but are obviously still flawed.

Yeah I just looked at a couple different kickstarter pages and Virtuix and Cyberith look like the only options for home users unless people have a dedicated room for nothing but VR.
I think systems like that are a waste of money to be honest, having to be strapped in would just ruin the immersion - I doubt you'd be able to get immersed enough to forget what you're standing in.
You'd be better off just forking out on 2 tracking pucks and using a jogging on the spot locomotion system.

If they could do it so you had the ability to go prone, then I think that would be the ticket. I don't think being strapped by the waist would be too immersion-breaking. Especially when you get to use your legs to move rather than the trackpad on your left hand or whatever it may be without.

Bridge Crew is out on all platforms now (Oculus Home, Steam Store, and PSVR)
Facepunch crew when?
Initial Star Trek: Bridge Crew opinion:
Controls are less annoying than I thought they would be. Graphics are very good. Avatar customization could use some more options. Bunch of friends coming together tomorrow to actually play it for the first time. Pretty damn excited.

Does this game have cross-headset play, or am I locked into a marketplace?
