Without injecting metal dust into it and manipulating with an array of electromagnets, I don't think there's going to be a way to trick it.
The inner ear can already be stimulated by magnets or electricity, there was that Japanese(?) Team which made a pair of headphones that would guide you around via gps and making you lean slightly in the direction that would take you to your destination
EDIT: I looked it up, it's called galvanic vestibular stimulation. It can be done with electricity and can be used to simulate a sense of movement, or when applied to the forehead, I've read a non-scientist say he felt a sense of weightlessness, but he also experienced flickering in his sight when doing the stimulation slighlty wrong on the forehead.
Doing it with electromagnets is do able but it wouldn't be 'galvanic' stimulation then, I guess. Magnetic Vestibular Stimulation.
For VR use, MVS seems like the most practical candidate, with GVS, you need to apply conductive fluids to the contact points regularly, although if the user is sweating, conductivity might be a non issue.
Anyone have any opinions on VorpX
is it worth the price?
fuck vorpx
I'm gonna give away a copy of GORN, just rate this with a by the end of the GORN sale 38 hours from now. Might be a little longer, depends on how much I sleep in.
also please have an HMD.
Congratulations paul-simon and Nomad, I ended up doing two copies because so many people applied.
RNGesus has chosen you, so send me a PM with your steam account so i can add you and gift it to you.
fuck vorpx
Can someone elaborate on this? I've read mixed reviews online about it but nothing seems conclusive. Also is there an alternative?

The alternative is native support.
It's just a bandaid solution to a problem that is rather complex. Playing a game in VorpX after you play a natural VR game is pretty rough, so it leaves people with a bad taste, which is justifiable.

Also, for the price they ask for, VorpX is not user friendly and requires a lot of tinkering. Maybe if it was free or at least a lower price, it'd be passable.
Fuck, I really want to get that rift bundle but everywhere is sold out. I want to collect it from a shop rather than wait for delivery. :disappoint:
Has the disintegrating foam problem with the Vive deluxe audio strap been fixed? I'm very interested in buying it because the stock strap is a pain in the ass sometimes.

Seems the issue has passed. Might want to ask on /r/Vive just to be sure.
Wish I'd known ahead of time that the rift's software was a 1.71 gig download that has to be repeated if installation fails for whatever reason.

I don't see how this was such a shock to everyone. The foam face pads that come with the Vive had the same issue.

From what I heard it was a non-issue, simply wiping down the foam with a cloth supposedly fixes the issue.

I bought it when it came back to stop and so far all that i've played with it, the foam is intact and seems perfectly fine, so i'd say you're good to go. But, this is just my case, and have in mind that im from Europe.
Finally got my discount vive, after a bit of a long delay. Kinda scuffed but everything works perfect so I don't really care.
Also, holy shit this fucking thing is great. The moment the balloons started coming out of the controllers in the tutorial a switch flipped in my brain and I got it. A bit of a shame my floorspace is limited in my office, but I guess hauling my computer up to my room sometimes is okay.
Still waiting on Oculus Support to help figure out why the fuck my Rift is being a piece of shit.
No video, I can't complete the setup anymore because of a "generic device error; Invalid Bundle Adjustment".
I've spent five hours now trying to get my NOLO to work now that it's arrived. Shit keeps crashing from SteamVR to the NOLO drivers to Vridge (on both my PC and phone).
About to try it mounted on the ceiling, because I think my low-hanging lightbulb might be affecting it somehow or something since it's in the base station's FOV in the area I need it to be.
[editline]a[/editline]
If it works I'm going to need to find a service or someone somewhere willing to print out the real ceiling mount but at least the fucking thing'll be working
[editline]a[/editline]
Well, my shitty paper plate and duct tape mount design had a fatal flaw so it couldn't actually track even if it was working and now I'm back to square one where tracking on one of my controllers is weird and the other one is just missing
woo.
[editline]a[/editline]
I got everything working but now my tracking is rotated 90 degrees to the right what the fuck
why have the VR gods forsaken me
[editline]a[/editline]
It's working now finally holy shit that was a journey

If you dont mind me asking, where did you buy your vive?
Oh my god robo recall is so fun
I finally jumped on desktop vr, I've now got the computer to push it and the oculus deal was too good to pass up. I've had a psvr since launch, and I'm more or less a fanatic. I've been bringing so many people around to my dorm-room to show them how rad vr is. I can't wait to start making my own stuff for the rift, if only it would take less than three weeks to arrive.
On a side note, what games have y'all been using to introduce people to vr? On the psvr I've been showing people the deep sea diving and london heist games as an initial introduction, then moving onto rez area x, and finally finishing off with either eagle flight or re-7 depending on their preference. Whenever I'm home I tend to skip all that and show folks superhot on my brothers Vive, it seems to be the most engaging thing for new players so far. I've had two friends, both grown ass adults, sprint full speed into a bed or wall while playing it, which strikes me as a good sign. Super hot is the bomb.

Onward (definitely the best online shooter)
Superhot VR (literally the best)
Arizona Sunshine (cool coop online, not a showcase game)
Space Pirate Trainer (super cool)
Audioshield (music rhythm thing)
Climbey (really cool to watch people loose their balance and fall)

Oh hell yeah, space pirate trainer was the first VR title I tried apart from terrible trade show demos. It was cool to play a game that got me moving so much. I don't think I've seen anyone play without falling to their knees at some point dodging a shot.
Have you had a chance to try pavlov? I'm trying to decide between it and onward, my main concern as always with multiplayer VR is playerbase. Does anyone know if they're both healthy?

Both have a pretty solid playerbase, haven't had any trouble matchmaking in either.
Best comparison is Onward is more like Insurgency, it's slower-paced, more realistic & "tactical". There's a VIP gamemode, there's "Uplink" which has one team hack into the other team's satellite dish thing, and your usual tdm stuff.
Whereas Pavlov is faster paced and plays a lot more like CS. One gamemode even has you buy stuff at the beginning of the round, and either plant a bomb or defuse it. There's also straight up TDM one that spawns you in with random weapons on the map with like a 3 second respawn delay that plays a lot like CoD's TDM.
GORN is so satisfying. I unlocked the giant flail. It's a two-handed flail that absolutely wrecks everything, it's so satisfying.

I bought both Pavlov and Onward when I got my Vive in April. I returned Pavlov after a few matches online after having tried Onward. It's the only game I have ever returned on Steam. I didn't find it anywhere near as captivating as Onward was. I was actually pretty disappointed in it.
Also, add GORN to that list of games to get.
Do you guys think i'll be fine running at 1.5x supersampling on a 1080 and i7-6700k?
Mostly playing games like H3VR, Onward, Out of Ammo, Ultrawings, etc.

I was worried about feedback and how it would feel to play, but they actually did a superb job on making it feel like I'm waving anything other than two lightweight controllers
Looks like I'll be getting Touch next Wednesday. Besides Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, what else is a good bit of fun?
thanks for all the feedback. i totally forgot about the ability to try and return games on steam, i'll be sure to give them all a try. I ran through gorn back when it was still free, it's a wild game. I think the reason it feels like you're holding more than just a controller is that weird wiggle that weapons have to them. The issue with weight in vr is that everything responds so quickly to your touch, adding this physics delay of the wobble makes it feel a bit more heavy. That and it's funny.

I will bump superhot till I die.
Also, HHH is the best! One of the guys who works on it came by my college to talk about vr, they're all super down to earth human beings.
I don't like people comparing Pavlov to CS, it's more like Gungame or some CoD gamemodes.
