I mean, the primary gamemode is Demolition from CS, complete with a radial buy menu at the start of each round
and 80% of the time I play it I end up on de_dust2 lol
I don't like people comparing Pavlov to CS, it's more like Gungame or some CoD gamemodes.
Are you referring to the gun game-like mode Pavlov has? I don't see what's wrong with comparing the two bomb defusal modes.

Yeah actually that's fair enough, I just remember when all they had was the DM mode with random guns, it might be a bit more like CS now actually.

Well I honestly always saw the counter strike inspirations, even during it's early alpha. Everything from the gun play to TTK seemed like an earnest attempt to translate CS into VR. I find the inclusion of a bomb defusal mode superficial in comparison to those when it comes to discussing it's inspirations.

The pacing was very different to CS when Pavlov came out, it was literally jsut run & gun spray & pray, no teamplay or tactic involved.

Speaking of, Onward should have you manually defuse bombs. I'd love cutting the wire in a rush only for it to be the wrong one and see the bomb start ticking faster :v:
Looks like I'll be getting Touch next Wednesday. Besides Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, what else is a good bit of fun?
GORN is a must have. So is Onward and Rec Room.
I highly recommend theBlu. Its $10 but it's a fucking amazing demo. It's the first thing I show any friends when I demo my Vive. The first time I saw the swarm of migrating jellyfish taking up the entire visible space my jaw dropped and didn't stop until after I took the headset off. If you love ocean life like I do, its a must have.
Sometimes, I set up the whole Vive just to sit on my floor in the cinematic mode and watch the rays/caustics from the rising sun dance on the seafloor. It's insanely peaceful. Supposedly there's an Episode 2 in the works but I can't find any info on it. Id buy it in a heartbeat.

it's hard not to compare it to cs when it has the exact same type of gun store menu, the exact same "site A is over here" and "site B is over here" decals, and it even has the same fucking chickens running around, which is a trademark of csgo
Colleagues just pushed out a new PSVR update for Arizona Sunshine which should greatly improve aiming down sights. The secret was to "do what Farpoint does" :v:
What does Farpoint do?
Got my Vive toda- yesterday. Time flies by in VR, only thing that stops me is fatigue.
Support finally got back to me and, despite my warranty actually ending in May, I'm getting a warranty replacement anyway.
Now to wait and see how long that takes.
does anyone a uk site that has the rift summer bundle in stock? i think id rather have a vive but its nearly twice as much
What does Farpoint do?
From what I heard, hide PSVR's spotty tracking through a auto-stabilising aimpoint system.
Why did Oculus change the dreamdeck demo so that you can't select demos manually?
Tldr; A woman with proper fear of heights was just scared absolutely senseless because I forgot about the skyscraper part - if they hadn't removed the menu & the controls this would not have been a problem.
I have never seen a grown woman so frightened before. It was not funny in the sligthest.

All of that wasn't a thing when it came out and people compared it to CS anyway.
how well does roomscale work on the rift? i play cockpit games on my dk2 but stuff like gorn and onward look like you need roomscale
[editline]23rd July 2017[/editline]
also is there any real difference between the controllers?
Apparently with three sensors + touch it's pretty comparable to Vive roomscale
With three sensors the end result is identical to lighthouse tracking in almost every situation. You will only see a difference in very large rooms, the kind that most of us don't have (lighthouses have a bigger max tracking area). Rift's sensors are harder to setup though because of the USB cables.
[editline]23rd July 2017[/editline]
Touch is better than Vive wands, it's more ergonomic, way cheaper ($99 for two touches + one sensor, vs $149 for one wand only), has basic finger state tracking and has proper thumbsticks instead of touchpads.
at the minute you get 2 sensors touch and the headset for 400 thats why im interested, i was thinking if i bought a wallbed which i wanted anyway id have a 3x3 area for roomscale
can i be a cheapo and use my dk2 camera as a third camera?
No, you need a constellation sensor. The hardware just doesn't match. Rift sensors are higher refresh rate, wider FoV, longer range etc compared to the old DK2 sensors and have different hardware, it's not supported at all.

My Rift came in but I don't get the touch controllers until next week. Any recommendations for seated games I can play with the Xbox controller? Already installing Project Cars which I got from a Humble Bundle.

Edge of Nowhere and Chronos.
Edge of Nowhere is a horror thriller action/stealth experience best played in one 4-5 hour sitting (sort of like one long interactive movie in that there are checkpoints but no real narrative breaks). The devs went on to make "Dead and Buried" and "The Unspoken" (Touch games).
Chronos is a fantasy puzzle combat game with satisfying enemy battle mechanics, with 20-50 hours of play time depending how you play it.
Both are excellent and show off the potential of seated VR games.

If you have friends there's always Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
but you'll explode anyway
they always do
:frown:
Has anyone played that Paranormal activity game on Steam? It looks really polished and has great reviews but I simply cannot do VR horror
Everyone recommending Onward and Pavlov, but BAM VR is miles ahead in terms of content and features, and fun overall. It's probably not as popular, but when players are not around, you can always use bots. And it's cheaper too!

You should have Lucky's Tale with your purchase. That's a good cute game. 3rd person platformer that works really well in VR.
Lone Echo is really good. If you ever wanted "fixing stuff in space" the videogame, this is it.
Yeah I finished Lone Echo today. It was very well made. Graphics are pretty insane. I liked the ending a lot. Worth the money, even though at some points the tasks were repetitive, for the most part it was a great experience.
