Pretty sure "slow growth" of the VR market isn't true, plus there was that chart you posted of VR game revenue. I feel like blaming the VR market is avoiding whatever the real issue is

altspace vr is shutting down because of patent trolls who patented the concept of a multiplayer vr game
[url]https://insight.rpxcorp.com/litigation_documents/12511784[/url]
Thanks US patent system for supporting that cancer.
The funders and investors of Altspace likely thought it wasn't worth spending millions in legal fees to fight, and just decided to drop all funding, thus shutting down the game.
Let's hope VRchat isn't next.

A VR patent from 2000? That's really what they're basing this on?
The good news is it expires in 2020. The bad news is that it expires so soon that there's no point fighting for invalidity or noninfringement since it'll be moot by the time the case ends.
These assholes are pissing away money for no reason. They don't contribute anything to VR anymore. Let it go, pricks. You're not going to win any money if you just pick off little developers that end up closing because of you.

The patent is from 2000 or 2002 afaik, the ones who made it did not use it to troll. The patent was picked up (bought?) by a new company (trolls LLC) in 2016. They've been spamming lawsuits at VR porn sites for the past year, but now it's their first time attacking a social VR app.
Pointless shit like this is usually down to egos at play and nothing more.
No, it's down to the broken and outdated US patent system being held back by greedy lobbyists and lawyers, and money.
That's just as bad as the google play store fiasco where small devs were being sued by patent trolls

I'm trusting you.
The oculus finally shipped! Only a few days after it was supposed to arrive. Thankfully all these delays will hopefully allow it and the restocked extra third sensor to all show up at once so I don't have to mess around with quasi 2 sensor room scale.

Oh man I was just wondering when they were going to add the c96, can't wait to try it in vr.

Figuring how to operate each gun can be a bit difficult at first (less so now than back when the game had no tutorials whatsoever), but while Rick & Morty remains my best VR experience all around, H3VR is the one title that I just keep coming back to, just to fuck around.
46 hours and counting, it's immense fun and incredibly cozy.

Yeah, I'm trying to get my head around the controls. I've never been super into how guns work so I'm essentially figuring shit out as I go. It made a quick attempt at the Meat Grinder mode rather amusing as I fumbled about trying to figure out how to load a shotgun while being chased by a giant mechanical hot dog. :v:
I can tell this will be way better when I can get a third sensor and do proper roomscale.
It sounds like lame homework but catching up on some of the dev logs is probably an easier way to learn the controls than the in-game methods, and can get you familiar with a lot of the content faster. I definitely recommend, obviously, trying out the new Wurstworld scene when you have a proper sense of how to reload guns and spawnlock ammo. Wurstworld probably showcases the true potential of what H3VR can be like as a functional game as well as a whacky gun sandbox.
[editline]29th July 2017[/editline]
Also a lot of the gun range scenes should work fine with two sensors, as you only really need full 360 movement during firefights. Playing around in these long enough will probably turn you into a gun nut - I know I didn't give a shit about guns before I started playing H3VR, and now I get hype over the idea of reloading and playing around with virtual guns every few weeks.
Am I missing something about Wurstworld? All I did was put on a badge and shoot some bad guys for a few minutes before getting bored
[editline]29th July 2017[/editline]
And the horseshoe challenges are aggravatingly difficult
I honestly cannot defend the horseshoes at all fuck those but I don't know, I found the concept of exploring this virtual amusement park/town thingy, solving puzzles and fighting off hotdog bandits to be very compelling after sinking dozens of hours into H3VR and finally being able to use it's gunplay practically. It even had a few secrets to find and having to unlock a few of the guns included in the update really added some motivation to go out and actually do that stuff.
I felt like there needed to be more hot dog banditos to shoot

The horseshoe challenges are easier if you just turn off gravity and just chuck a ton of horseshoes in a somewhat straight line until you get them.
Other than that, there's the safe puzzles which are fun. There's chests to open which contain unique guns as well as keys which lead to some form of ending to the level, although the real reward is to get cool shit like the terminator 2 variant of the 1887.

I just lined up the horseshoe in front of me, and shot the back of it with the revolver, tends to kind of follow the sights of the revolver
