Finally got ahold of my minecraft account after it was stolen while I wasn't playing for many years. Logged in to test out my vivecraft server (it's up and working, just need to test the vivecraft portion and set some settings) and was greeted with some hideous monstrosity wearing dre beats and a pewdiepie tshirt. I can't even imagine how many servers I'm banned from that I've never visited myself :suicide:

That's funny. My account was also stolen and I have to wait for a support ticket to try out vivecraft. I'll miss my old Gordan skin as surely whoever it was ruined that.

Get ready for the raWr xED scene kid skin :v:
also the server is up currently at thebdf.org for anyone who wants to try and join, i'm about to attempt to use myself. got my laptop set up at work, vr ahoy

doesn't appear to work? it's not rendering inside the vive at all, only in a window on my desktop. it's nearly impossible to even see the UI because I have to hold the headset in a position where I can see the UI (for some stupid reason, not the direction I pointed out to be my monitor in steamvr setup, good job lads) and when I twister this into position none of the options appear to be helping... kinda sucks
Carmack keeps dropping hints on positional tracking for GearVR at Oculus Connect 3. That's going to be interesting.

I've heard rumors they're using a tracking similar system to that of the Rift, only the cameras are thermal and they track the heat signature of the flaming Note as you move through the space :v:
Is there anything left to play on the DK1 beside demo, Elite or maybe Euro Truck Simulator?
[editline]26th September 2016[/editline]
And is there any hack to it that make it compatible with more modern VR stuff?
Please don't crucify me for this question, but how important is setting the right IPD?
Please don't crucify me for this question, but how important is setting the right IPD?
Honestly? Not at all imo. Just wiggle it so that it doesn't look horrible. Unless your eyes are unusually far apart or close together, it really doesn't do anything. I measured my IPD proper in the mirror and set the Vive to exactly that IPD and it felt exactly the same as when I was just winging it and seeing what looked best.
A terrible IPD setting will make it so the images don't converge. A bad IPD setting just makes the scale of objects look incorrect to you (relevant xkcd). So yeah, just tweak until it looks right.
It's one of the first things to check when someone new to VR is complaining about the image, it's tricky to get right if you're not the one wearing the HMD.
It's headache-inducing to have it in the wrong setting. IPD is really important. Maybe depends on headset? Rift had an update a few weeks ago that fixed the software-correction of the physical IPD slider, which makes it even more important to have it in the right setting than it used to be.
Is there any way to edit the chaperone beyond the normal steamVR settings? I have a fairly small play area and it would be very handy if I could mark the center of the room
I have the floor boundaries always on but it would help if I had an immediate reference on where I should be standing
haven't seen anyone mention it but http://store.steampowered.com/app/524690/ is great and cheap and a good workout, check it out
Please don't crucify me for this question, but how important is setting the right IPD?
it simply makes the sweet spot better, I find it better to keep the ipd a bit lower than actual ipd due to pupil swim when your eyes converge, on dk1/dk2 it's very important to get scale right because the screens are fixed

this shouldn't happen with the vive / rift cv (not exactly sure with rift, never used one), scale will remain the same because the screens are physically moving as well the same amount in the virtual world as they do in the real world, the sweet spot just changes
I did my first multiplayer test in Modbox last night, combat is surprisingly satisfying. Its pretty fun jumping around throwing grenades and dodging arrows and sniper fire, I think the update is live sometime today so check it out of you have Modbox.

2 things
1) anyone tried to connect to the vivecraft server and if so, did all the vive features work as they're supposed to?
2) anyone got any ideas on the vivecraft issue? discord is absolutely dead and nobody was any help on reddit either

whats the profile editor look like? Did you try running minecraft as admin?
I'll be trying the vive craft tonight with any luck
whats the profile editor look like? Did you try running minecraft as admin?
Haven't touched the vivecraft profile since it was made by the installer, I did take a look at it but I wasn't sure what to look for really. It looked like it was pointing at my 64 bit jre which is what you want I guess? I did try running as admin, no difference.
I tried reinstalling vivecraft once, no difference. Only thing I wasn't sure on during install was the "minecraft path", it points to c/users/name/appdata/etc by default and that's where I left it.
steamvr frame timing look fine when the games open?

its really good, if you can handle it I suggest turning teleportation off, it's much better without it imo

Makes me so happy I get zero motion sickness.
steamvr frame timing look fine when the games open?
Yeah it looked fine, all green across the board. The only notable red text was the steamvr mini window showing "(Unresponsive) javaw.exe" or something along those lines. I might try installing vivecraft on our VR work desktop today, see how that goes.

try fullscreen/windowed? i dunno, contact the dev (github issues or reddit), he's very responsive, fixed bugs I reported before I went to bed one day and they were fixed when I woke up.
Have you tried with SteamVR closed? (make sure it's not set to auto-open, in steamvr options > dev > start steamvr when application starts)
I'm out of ideas, you probably tried most of the stuff I've listed anyways.

I'll try the fullscreen bit next time I have a chance, can always make a github issue post about it as well I suppose

I tried with steamvr closed but I guess it was in auto-open because it opened when minecraft started, I'll give that a shot too

Is the locomotion like Onward with it off?
Is the locomotion like Onward with it off?
never played onward, but I think so. Move in the direction your controller is pointing, you can customize the controls though to change it a bit.
Election debate event in VRchat 5 hours from now if anyone wants to join. There's a room with a bunch of chairs and a screen playing the debate.

God damn, I was seriously just thinking about how cool this would be this morning. Let players wave Trump and Clinton flags and have a grand sword fight, throwing chairs and bottles and stuff at each other as the debate rages on.
I recommend making an account on the VRchat site so you can download various avatars on the free marketplace. Someone has made both Hillary and Trump avatars that you can use
Is the locomotion like Onward with it off?
Yes, but wayyyyyy faster and jerkier, so it can make you sick if you're prone to that kind of thing.
I'm pretty much immune to VR sickness, but the free-move mode in Vivecraft makes me a little dizzy after a couple hours.
oh shit it's happening

What Juju magic have you done to make this possible? I get sick as a dog when I play games like Onward.

Hnnng. Time to buy a HOTAS that isn't awful.
