I suffer from car sickness, VR sickness seems a lot more intense. I just wanted to find out if anyone here has any specific remedies that work well for them. I know car sickness remedies are a google search away but I posted here because I wanted to hear people's own opinions.
Curling up and dying worked for me. Can't believe I did a full shift while Vived.
how the hell do I check that anyways. I always set it to 6.66 because I'm an edgelord tool but also it seems to be the best looking median
if you have a vive there should be a dial on the side; I'm not sure how the rift does it
if you have a vive there should be a dial on the side; I'm not sure how the rift does it
I know the vive does, but does ItszuVR have one?
I know the vive does, but does ItszuVR have one?
Yep! Independently controlled IPD to boot! [t]http://i.imgur.com/qHpEwWMh.jpg[/t]
The Rift uses a single slider on the right underside. The movement is really smooth.
Oh yeah I forgot about that project of yours. Is there a blog post somewhere summarizing it?
closest thing is my posts in this thread. I think I also made some tweets about it but they're disorganized edit: [t]http://i.imgur.com/09TYMKa.png[/t] Found my old tweets on vr, mixed in with all my other vr tweets: https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=itszutak%20vr&src=typd [t]http://i.imgur.com/72VsFrA.png[/t]
The future of VR is gonna be paved in vomit. Can't wait for the next Postal game with vomit tracking included.
[sp]the game said to drop the weapon[/sp] PSVR is huuuge yet somehow all the reviews are saying it's the most comfortable headset of all I wonder how well it handles users looking straight down?
free weekend of raw data has convinced me not to buy it yet, it's fun and the single player works fine but 2 out of 3 times I try to join or host a mp game steam crashes completely. Also even if it worked consistently $40 (or even $30 on sale) seems like too much
Yeah, Raw Data is kinda well done and fun for the most part (at least the gun hero for me), but 40$ is plenty, and it is still unfinished. Played all but 3 missions and I think I'm done, I will wait for sale.
PSVR is huuuge yet somehow all the reviews are saying it's the most comfortable headset of all I wonder how well it handles users looking straight down?
I got to try the PSVR headset at a demo station about a month ago. If you have glasses (I have very wide ones), I think it is by far the most comfortable headset. I also specifically looked straight up and down to see what would happen, because I remember the Vive got blurry when I did that, and I don't recall there being an issue. If you don't wear glasses though, then I think you could easily make the case for the CV1 being the most comfortable.
PSVR is built differently in the way all the weight rests on your forehead instead of your face or back of the head, it's actually the heaviest headset yet you feel very little of it in comparison. Definitely a winner in terms of ergonomics. The headset slides back and forth so it won't get caught with your glasses when you take it off. The difference in fov and resolution is noticeable though
Does anybody know of a proper cheap way to get into VR? I've been trying riftcat with my phone with a friends headset and it works wonders, although the lack of positional tracking is a pain. It also looks horrendously pixelated however I don't know if it's simply because the screen is only 1080p. It feels a lot less though. I'm getting no pixelation and hardly any delay as long as I USB tether my phone to my PC, so that's allright. Although the 1m cable makes it a pain. Are there any alternatives to riftcat that don't cost 15€? What about buying something like a second hand DK1 or DK2? Or is better off to save the extra few hundreds and buy a VIVE? If I'm getting into proper VR I most likely don't want a CV1 unless it's an amazing deal, I'd rather get a VIVE.
There isn't a cheap way to get into proper VR, sorry. You either buy a Rift or Vive for top tier VR, or PSVR+PS4 for medium tier, or GearVR+Samsung S7 for low tier. Don't waste your time with random unknown unsupported VR headsets like the Razer goggles or some Chinese copycat. [editline]16th October 2016[/editline] And DO NOT buy a devkit, they are not supported at all.
you could steal someone elses headset cheapest way to get into it!
Oh I dont really mind my current experience. If I buy a riftcat licence with my current headset the total cost would be 35$ plus my phone. 90 degrees of FOV and no 3D positional tracking but it'd be a simple entry level experience. Even if it isnt "real" VR

How the hell did it cost that much? Are you using proper webcam tracking or something? Also I can't tell why mine looks so shit, if it's because I'm streaming it too low res or if 1080p screens are really that bad. I can't make out his numbers in elite dangerous

rift is your best choice for cheap vr entry, hdk2 also exists, but it'll be a lot less consumer friendly & currently has no upgrade path to get tracked controllers (i think they're working on it, though) vive also requires more technical knowledge if something goes wrong, imo, though i prefer it to the rift. I kinda hate when people with poor troubleshooting skills gets one, cause I know they'll eventually be posting on /r/vive for help
How the hell did it cost that much? Are you using proper webcam tracking or something?
I mean in case it's not common knowledge R&D can be pretty expensive. I mean it's less so on the hobbyist side than the industrial side but how much do you think it cost them to design the rift vs you buying one?
I was playing paintball on Rec Room and I moved my foot in the perfect way that it tugged on my Vive's cord and unplugged ALL THREE PLUGS from the link box. I was both angry and impressed with myself.
Whenever I try using the Vive drunk I always step on the cord when I'm crouching and repeatedly snap my neck whenever I stand up lol
[t]http://i.imgur.com/PArDTVQ.jpg[/t] Yesterday, my 88 year old grandmother tried out virtual reality. I let her visit Vesper peak. She loved it, playing with the dog and looking at the vistas. She told a story that when she was younger, they were the first house in the street with a radio and everyone was amazed about the technology. And now we have VR, she didn't imagine to still be able to experience this. It was really moving actually.

Oh man, for anyone that has a Vive I fully recommend buying TheBlu on Steam. Its $10 and it's only 3 sims, only 2 of which are about 6 minutes long, but it's such a captivating experience it's awesome. Definitely my go-to to demo it to friends

I haven't played it since the recent update that "added some thing new" to the luminous abyss, anyone know what it is? (maybe I should just watch for myself when work ends today) [sp]still debating asking my boss if he would mind me taking our spare vive headset home (i'd probably have to buy spare lighthouses but worth it), we only use the 2nd one for demonstrations after all and we're a pretty tight knit office[/sp]
Are there any new good demos or free VR games? Bored and waiting for paycheck.
