avoiding uncanny valley stuff is the reason for the avatar design.
So out of nowhere my performance in steamvr on my laptop has just taken a massive nose dive into oblivion, anyone got any idea why this might have happened? I ran a demo for 4 hours with not a single missed frame at one point, and now I'm getting them every few seconds. This is unbelievable

I highly suggest checking out Envelop. It's a virtual desktop app but every window is floating and can be placed around you. There's issues with playing YouTube videos in a window that isn't in focus - ie, the one you're currently interacting with - and the workaround breaks some apps, like Opera. I've not tried anything other than Bigscreen - screw paying £12 for virtual desktop - and as far as I'm aware, it's the only one that doesn't constrain you to your irl monitor. [editline]13th November 2016[/editline] Oh yeah it also supports displaying using webcam footage as a keyboard display, which is really smart, annoyingly I don't have a webcam to test it with. If this background video issue gets fixed, I might buy one.
Hello guys. I've been not up to date with VR for quite a few months. I wanted to have a 360 VR with motion controller while sitting. But room scale might be good for VR hentai. I've heard Oculus will produce its own VR controller. What are the advantages of Oculus compared to Vive? Which would you suggest?

Rift is lighter, but many people say Vives weight isn't a problem. Rift is clearer, but as bitches said, is an equal trade off for lesser FOV. Ultimately if you want motion controls and a room scale set up, soon, go for the vive.

Especially if you have wider frames, the headset likes to push them into your temples. [editline]13th November 2016[/editline] and the rift has no way to move the lenses further or closer to your face (as the Vive does), so you glasses can scuff up the lenses on the HMD

It's so small and light, and that really can't be understated. With glasses though, it's a very tight fit and requires a lot fiddling to make it comfortable enough to wear. It's still annoying and feels tight though, even when you find the best fit. Makes taking it on and off very awkward as well. For whatever it's worth, I think the PSVR is the most comfortable out of the 3 if you wear glasses. There's a ton of room inside, and it's very wide.
fortunately you can order a prescription lens kit that clips into the headset for under 30$
presumably you also then have to order custom lenses to go with the kits right? that's another 30 bucks right there, more if you have a special vision problem like an astigmatism. [editline]13th November 2016[/editline] Oculus and HTC would be downright stupid not to adopt a similar system for their respective CV2s, ideally HTC could even release a replacement head mount system for the Vive CV1 since it can swap straps.
Thanks guys. Seeing that Vive and Rift had major upgrades planned, I will order PS VR. Its cheapest, suitable to burn my money on new tech, and can be used with PC with cinema mode. And they had Summer Lesson for PS VR. No upstanding man should deny themselves of vr waifus experience
I've heard terrible things about PSVR
if you just need basic glasses you can order the lenses and get it all 3d printed for cheap as I said if you go to a university that offers 3d printing you can do this stuff for almost free HTC and Oculus really ought to offer official prescription lens solutions next time around
PSVR tracking is awful. Not only is it jittery, but it also has a very small camera FoV because Sony decided to use a several year old webcam instead of a made-for-VR tracking system.
I took a look at the games. My god it's filled with games themed on negative vibes. Is there any games where people online can frolick in a beautiful VR world, just facking around? Something like Playstation Home on PS3? Or VR MMORPG?
Wasn't "Dreams" supposed to be that kind of thing, frolicking in user-made scenes or something VRMMOs won't be a thing for a while because of (relatively) small VR userbase still, and the locomotion problem. We might see something in 2017, probably 2018.

Super excited for the release of Dreams, although I don't really see that as a VR title.
the most to-the-point Touch capacitance demonstration I've seen so far
[vid]http://foxcock.me/web/Touch%20demonstration.mp4[/vid]
it has obvious limits, but I'm still excited to get my hands in it full video
someone held an MMD concert in VRchat, there were about 30 people in there [t]http://horobox.reager.org/u/orkel_1479087300.png[/t] [t]http://horobox.reager.org/u/orkel_1479101451.png[/t] [t]http://horobox.reager.org/u/orkel_1479130904.png[/t] this sums it up
Oculus runtime just updated to 1.10 for me. Got to try the legit Oculus Touch setup and subsequent demo. Really fun, and great at showing the potential of Touch's features with a variety of stuff to play with.

Very tempted to buy a Vive and a GTX 1070, but I would really like to know if anyone can convince me not to. I'd have an area of about 1.8x2m and financially, it's not insignificant, but I will not miss the money either. Thoughts?
Im getting my Vive in a week or so, can anyone recommend me the most immersive experiences available? It can be games, videos, or anything like that. I want to blow some friends minds with it.

Audio Shield if you want to punch music. theBlu if you want to just relax and enjoy some pretty underwater visuals.
Cleared out my room again after 1-2 months of not using my vive and wow. I forgot how amazing it was, and a bunch of games like H3 got updated LOADS (too bad i'm like retarded at reloading) Also forgot I get tired like real quick too. Moving houses within a month (hopefully) and I should be getting a room with more space to mess around in. Also sad that wireless add-on sold out in like 18 minutes, since it ships early/January 2017 hopefully it will be restocked globally a bit after that.

I don't know whether this is the right place to ask this, but I get terrible performance issues with my Vive. I can't even run games like Final Approach or Portal Stories:VR without extreme stuttering I have a Nvidia Geforce 6GB 1060GTX, a Hexacore AMD 6300 @ 3.2Ghz and 8GB of RAM, so I should be good to play most Vive games. What can I do to improve performance?
