I don't know whether this is the right place to ask this, but I get terrible performance issues with my Vive. I can't even run games like Final Approach or Portal Stories:VR without extreme stuttering I have a Nvidia Geforce 6GB 1060GTX, a Hexacore AMD 6300 @ 3.2Ghz and 8GB of RAM, so I should be good to play most Vive games. What can I do to improve performance?
Your cpu is too weak, it's bottlenecking the 1060
Fuck it, did it, Vive and GTX 1070 will be here tomorrow.
HOLY SHIT a co-op room-scale multi-crew WW2 submarine simulator???? you have my motherfucking attention [editline]14th November 2016[/editline] if someone makes a tank game on a similar premise (but with sitting roomscale I guess?) I would basically never leave VR ever
You'd think that any and all large presentations related to VR would have officially-endorsed VR theaters already
i don't know if those waves on that ocean are 3d and animated or just a cool floor texture, but either way fuck me those waves are beautiful
it's decently easy to set up waves like that as a texture (which creates its own heights so it's 3D) in ue4, though I don't know what they're using. You can see in this gif though, the water does have proper height displacement
i don't know if those waves on that ocean are 3d and animated or just a cool floor texture, but either way fuck me those waves are beautiful
You can never get flat water to look that good.
PSVR tracking is awful. Not only is it jittery, but it also has a very small camera FoV because Sony decided to use a several year old webcam instead of a made-for-VR tracking system.
Yes, but it's screen has a almost no screen door effect, you really have to look for it.
Anyone played The Martian yet?
My vive just arrived, besides the plastic thing with the warning about not letting it into the sun and sharp objects is there anything else i need to peel off the headset?
My vive just arrived, besides the plastic thing with the warning about not letting it into the sun and sharp objects is there anything else i need to peel off the headset?
There's a little piece over the camera on the front but that should be it. There's plastic on the lighthouses too.
There's a little piece over the camera on the front but that should be it. There's plastic on the lighthouses too.
The first night I got my Vive I used it for like 4 hours with the plastic on the lighthouses and it didn't affect anything at all lol
The first night I got my Vive I used it for like 4 hours with the plastic on the lighthouses and it didn't affect anything at all lol
If the plastic is very evenly applied from the factory it's unlikely to cause any distortion I'd say, but we put out lighthouses through some pretty rough stuff here (including one we disassembled and modified) and they're pretty resilient. Don't think there's really any issue removing the film either
I still want to know why turning on the vive camera makes it 100% unable to track, slingshotting your view around.
Most of the time, the camera just isn't detected for me. SteamVR is really unstable. Sometimes I will get 3 seconds of good tracking then everything disconnects. I can only use SteamVR after a restart, not if I've been doing other things for a while.
Have you tried lowering the camera refresh rate? Your USB might not be able to handle it
For H3VR players. how do you use your gun iron sights? close one of your eyes? unless i do that i cant aim for shit, i get this feeling like im crossing my eyes
Have you tried lowering the camera refresh rate? Your USB might not be able to handle it
no matter how low the rate is for me nor the USB type, if the camera is on then steamVR instantly breaks. Well damm now i feel silly :v:, VR Teaching me how things work in real life
Well damm now i feel silly :v:, VR Teaching me how things work in real life
That's also one of the advantages of red dot sights in real life, they look "on target" no matter how you look at them, and you don't have to close an eye (as opposed to video games where they typically just have a clearer marker). Curious if that's represented in H3VR
Saw this https://medium.com/desk-of-van-schneider/the-post-virtual-reality-sadness-fb4a1ccacae4 on Hacker News, wondering what people think of it, share any feelings with the author?

I haven't really been able to get that comfortable in VR though because the hardware I use is at work.
I may get the feeling sometimes, but for no more than like 5-10 minutes. Coming from someone who has suffered from clinical depression and has residual anxiety from that, I wouldn't get too concerned about "VR depression."
Played some Onward over the weekend. Here's some bits I recorded. Game still has a lot of potential that I hope the dev will deliver on.
IIRC when they were first added they were just a dot in the middle no matter what. Dunno if they've been properly added yet.
The sights could be zeroed in H3VR since the sights came out

I've heard it's not bad in this game for some reason but I'm pretty susceptible to getting sick from artificial locomotion.

You'll likely get motion sickness within 2 hoirststeam refunds give u anyway??? Just got my titan xp GPU.wonder what this badboy can do with supersampling. My 980ti just was not cutting it for most games with 1.5. It really makes it seem like its a gen 2 display with SS.
That's how you aim a gun in real life
no, it's how some people shoot and is arguably a bad habit
no, it's how some people shoot and is arguably a bad habit
most people shoot one eye closed simply because it's easier to rectify a sight picture that way if you can shoot with both eyes open, it can be an advantage for certain tasks (mostly involving combat where situational awareness is a must) but overall really doesnt present much of an advantage. its stupid to call it a bad habit since most people simply cant shoot with both eyes open, particularly with long guns where the stock gives a massive advantage to whichever eye corresponds with the shoulder the gun is on. 99% of people will get double vision in that case which is detrimental to your shooting performance.
