I really hope Tabletop Simulator gets a Touch port (if it doesnt have one already). Its super fun to play board games with other VR users, and even a little bit more fun to play in the same game as non-VR users :v:
[editline]7th December 2016[/editline]
Its $27 right now on GMG I believe.
Pretty sure that tabletop simulator will think they're just vive controllers and work automatically. But yea native support would be useful.

In all seriousness, Medium is something I would love to have as a Vive user. Maybe something similar will come to the Vive.
I'm pretty sure there's already sculpting programs for it, I'm not sure how developed they are by comparison. You can also just use revive if you want specifically medium, seen plenty of people do that.
What nicks do people in this thread use in Oculus Home, I'm gonna add you to my friendslist

I've seen some of them, but they don't seem to have very much smoothing, if any at all, so you can tell that the object is made of voxels.
But I haven't checked in a while, so maybe they've improved.

Should be Clavus or ClavusElite if it was already taken.

It works fine on Vive, if you want it you can just nab it off the Oculus Store and run it through Revive! Bullet Train also works really well too, and is free.
Bullet Train is a pretty fun showcase demo for first time users.

Has anyone in this thread started trying out room-scale Touch? I know bitches said he was going to try the corner camera setup soon, I've seen some people complaining about the headset cable length, wondering if that's an issue.
[editline]7th December 2016[/editline]
Also I'm going to finally try Touch at Best Buy today, which means I'll also get to try the Rift by extension. If its as good as people say I might end up nabbing one and writing it off as a work expense :v:

Haven't tried roomscale yet. I'm lacking an USB extender cable so my Touch is setup for 180 (more like 270) degree tracking atm.
I placed one sensor up high and one sensor down low - opposite each other, and had minor issues for the most part.
I've been having problems with my cameras losing frames, pretty sure its down to using a mobile CPU.

Have you tried Onward yet? I'm curious how its forward facing solution works. Apparently you can spin you character 180 degrees on demand, or something to that effect.
I had to refund Onward because the wifi bug is still not fixed. He released an update that actually somehow made it even worse.. I appreciate that it's only one guy working on it (apparently?), but at this point it's like dude, hire some people! I think I read in an interview he's made like a $200,000 cut from Onward, so it's not like he can't afford to hire a few people hourly to help sort shit out. Dante has sort of a cult of personality around on in the VR community because people are super impressed by it being a one-man project, but if I'm paying $25 for a game I'm not just going to hand-wave away constant bugs and performance issues just because the developer is a really cool guy. At some point if you're going to be selling software to thousands of people you need to start putting that money back into development so that customers receive the support they deserve.
[editline]7th December 2016[/editline]
It just irks me when developers in the VR community get a pass for releasing buggy and broken products because they're small teams. If it was a free game, sure, but if you want people to pay the same price for your game as one developed by a full studio with studio-quality support, you need to get your shit together imo.

Yeah I set up a 3-sensor space. Cable is long enough to let me move around, but not long enough to let me step over it when I rotate my body too far. I'd say a HDMI / USB extension is recommended.
Also just played through the entirety of SUPERHOT VR in one sitting just now. Boy I'm sweating :v:
Ditto that the cable is adequate yet extensible. You can extend the cable, but you'll need a specific HDMI cable that does it right. I've heard that the Vive link boxes can extend this by an extra meter and protect your PC besides, so if I weren't moving into a small bedroom soon I'd definitely pick one up for my Rift.
On its own the Rift's 13 foot cable lets me traverse my 9x10ft playing space without a problem, but extra slack would be a big plus.
[editline]7th December 2016[/editline]
Why is the Vive link box sold without the power cable? That sounds just insane, so please enlighten me as to the reasoning.

Did you play a lot or is it as short and overpriced as the original game?
I was looking forward to it but the original left a sour taste in my mouth and I'm not ready for an encore

Jesus, that's some subtle shilling about Intel® Core™ i7. In a steam forum post even? That's just sad.

Someone in the SH thread had some good input:
A quick look at the store doesn't actually give me any inkling there's a single-player horde mode in the game, or that the difficulty they locked off exists. Ergo, it's not advertised functionality.

Timed exclusivity to things isn't a new thing. Do XBox owners get to sue EA for timed exclusivity for PS3/4 owners on the BF3/4 expansion packs?
I can understand exclusivity options to benefit your game's financial benefactor, but a CPU being good enough to play something from the same company being locked off is just crazy. Are people supposed to like intel more when they say "thanks for being a customer, but you're not a gold customer"?
Why is the Vive link box sold without the power cable? That sounds just insane, so please enlighten me as to the reasoning.
It's meant to be a replacement part in case of damage or malfunction, you can't buy all the parts of a vive individually from the htc store. Not sure why they don't also include a way to buy the power supply as well though.

Like, don't get me wrong at all. I'm not a fan of the practice. But if the developers are trying to avoid paying out of the ass to get access to some Intel goodies, I can see why they would opt for this. I know little about the developer, but have they made anything before? Do they have the capital to throw down $700+ dollars on a compiler suite that might not even help some of their users?
It's a short term problem that's going to generate animosity, even if it means the developer may have had a chance to make the game run much better on hardware actually capable of supporting newer instruction sets (the modern AVX stuff isn't on all AMD CPUs, but most Intel ones from the last few years deffo have it for example).

Ultimately for me I'm not upset so long as they're careful to not advertise the restricted features without clearly plastering i7 requirements in such adverts. However, I also am not inclined to buy a game that is incomplete for me until they lift the restriction or the community hacks around it.
I didn't care for Arizona Sunshine much in the first place, so mostly this just cheapens the Intel brand for me. If the best an i7 can pull off is a feature arbitrarily restricted from the i5 series, then there's no point at all in my buying an i7.

I can't tolerate PR talk, especially in a forum that's supposed to be the direct line between developers and fans
It's a pet peeve of mine but the way they dance around saying "timed exclusive for i7 owners" with excessively verbose sentences, while flaunting all of the AMAZING features you can get if you buy Intel® Core™ i7 RIGHT NOW is just really insulting to me
There's also the issue that apparently the mode being an i7 exclusive thing is not clear, so you have many of the reviews mentioning horde mode as if it's part of the game and anyone who buys the game based on that information and doesn't own an i7 is going to get shafted
