Turns out the Vive's lenses can be repaired quite easily, I had a pretty big scrape right in the middle of a lens and after 10 minutes with a scratch remover my lenses look brand new And that's how a quick google search saved me 200 dollars
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-01-12-guerrila-cambridge-to-close The studio and developers of RIGS (robot sport PSVR game) have been shut down by Sony.
Finally got myself an Oculus with Touch controllers. I'm eager to try it. Noticed it comes with another sensor inside the Touch box, Do I need both sensors working to test the Rift? Or can I just use the one that came with the headset? I'm planning on buying an USB3 card later don't worry.
1 camera is fine if you're not going to use the touch. You'll REAALY want both hooked up for better sensitivity and accuracy. You should be able to get away with having one of the cameras on USB2 instead of 3

Another thing, every time I plug my HDMI to my card I get a hourglass sign on my visor then it turns itself off and starts again with the hourglass. [editline]adnas[/editline] Turns out my R9 390 has one HDMI, one DVI, and 3 DP ports Might have to buy an adapter jfc.
does anyone know if theres a vive 2/vive refresh coming out soon i dont really want to buy a first gen technology
They've repeatedly said they don't have one planned right now and the "big reveal" this year was the different headstraps and the tracker pucks. It's going to be over a year before we see a Gen2 I reckon.
Plus it's being labeled as first gen yes, but there's been a ton of development work done prior to the release of Gen 1, and it's in pretty spectacular shape thus far imo. I don't regret my vive purchase at all.
Carmack took the stand at the Oculus / ZeniMax trial and UploadVR got some quotes out of it: http://uploadvr.com/john-carmack-oculus-zenimax-oath/

I wonder how this case will turn out. It would suck if Oculus really is found to be using resources from Zenimax during the beginnings of Oculus, and they have to pay that money. I would hope it wouldn't affect their business and support for their customers.
It's just ZeniMax's attempt at leeching some money out of Facebook. Don't think it'd hurt Oculus much.
I just realized the new Vive trackers would be great for tracking cameras for mixed reality views.

Luckey and Carmack kick-started this whole industry and now Luckey is basically going nowhere because he is a young idiot who didn't know what to do with the sudden wealth, and Carmack is losing his time on courts, because he is an engineer interested in more than games. I am surprised when he sold id to Zenimax, he didn't protect himself more. id was independent and was under Zenimax for just 3 years when all this started.

He just had go on the stand to testify about what he did, don't think he lost much time on that. And who knows when we hear from Palmer again. He's still around, supposedly.
Zuckerberg is testifying in the Zenimax case on Tuesday, and Palmer later in the week: http://venturebeat.com/2017/01/15/zuckerberg-to-testify-in-2-billion-lawsuit-that-claims-oculus-used-stolen-technology/
I wonder what would happen even if only half of the proposed punishment would go through (Tho I doubt it very, very much). 1 Bilion would probably eliminate any profits from Rift sales.

I guess we'd get to see if Zuckerberg was being honest when he said this wasn't about the profits.
Well... I guess we'd get to see if Zuckerberg was being honest when he said this wasn't about the profits.
I don't think VR manufacturers are making a profit in the first place, and that's without considering the multi-million game investments.
I don't think VR manufacturers are making a profit in the first place, and that's without considering the multi-million game investments.
At least Vive is making profit from hardware, as HTC claims.
My right eye in my Vive is quite blurry. I've tried adjusting the lens distance, the headstrap, but sights, text and other little details don't work so well on my right side. But the left side works great.. any ideas?

i cleaned the lenses, that actually helped a lot, but it's still blurry it seems like the focus point is too low on the right side

Oculus is also likely making a profit and just bullshitting about their whole "selling at a loss" thing by factoring in research costs that most likely were covered by Facebooks $2bn acquisition anyway. Even if you buy Palmer's nonsense, it's pretty obvious HTC is making a profit considering.. You know, they've never stated otherwise? And that they have public shareholders meetings like every quarter iirc? And that they're selling accessories and upgrades?
i cleaned the lenses, that actually helped a lot, but it's still blurry it seems like the focus point is too low on the right side
I have the same problem. It helps if you tilt the headset forward a bit or raise it higher on your head in my experience. Also, only use the front center of your vision to test focus because the edges will always be slightly blurry in comparison
Just bought a Vive wooooooooooooo!
