Speaking of GORN
Well shit, thats it no more gorn for me, Just smacked the controller against my desk it works perfectly fine but the haptic is a little bit slower and the sound it makes is different than the other controller. From now on its only VR development for me :v:

My thouchpad has been a little loose for ages now, never punched anything, it just seemed to happen after a game bugged out and I couldn't stop the controller vibrating. Basically the controller makes this loud buzzing sound when it's vibrating unless I hold the touchpad down.

Now I really want a Dark Messiah VR game where I can kick every enemy
Now I really want a Dark Messiah VR game where I can kick every enemy
Oh my god yes please Going to reinstall that game and play through it again now, thanks for that
Oh my god yes please Going to reinstall that game and play through it again now, thanks for that
I've always wanted an FPS where you can just do more things like that, throw shit at people, kick people, etc Like it would be great if you could figure out a way of calculating impacts combined with IK/foot/leg tracking to let you just straight up roundhouse kick a motherfucker's gun out of his hands A video game where you're rewarded for skill and flexibility of personal motion would make a great exercise tool (Dark Messiah is good but the fact you can't normally exit fullscreen mode is garbage and makes no sense) EDIT: Accelerometer/gyroscope type calculations on the trackers, the controller to account for what the player throws, etc Give the player throwing knives, or boots, or cups, possibly a little test range to figure out how responsive things are without being able to directly simulate weight
I reckon we'll eventually get exossuits that work in reverse like that VR glove that lets you feel stuff.
got a vive woo edit: downloaded a bunch of freebie vr games while i wait for the vr headset so i can be ready for it (this is sorted by VR) [t]http://i.imgur.com/mIfsJwp.png[/t] anything else to grab (i also got euro/american truck sim, so i gotta figure out how to vr that)
If you have elite dangerous download that, also Abe VR for a pretty nice horror short movie turned into a VR experience

Budget Cuts demo

Definitely the best way to grasp the mechanics of the vive. Other than that, welcome to the club and your new addiction
My Rift which I sent out on the 18th arrived to the Oculus Netherlands warehouse today on the 23th. Curious how long it will take to send a new unit back. Support says I should have a new one in my hand 8-10 days from the moment it reaches the warehouse, now we play the waiting game.

Now we just need polarized projectors and 3d glasses.

This is fucking awesome
I don't know if this a dumb question, but Why didn't they use Kinect-like camera system to detect body movement, instead of having players wearing sensors?
I don't know if this a dumb question, but Why didn't they use Kinect-like camera system to detect body movement, instead of having players wearing sensors?
Simply put, it's inaccurate. You can't tell whether or not the player is big or just really close to the camera and where exactly they are in respect to the sensors/emitters in a 3D space. Inverse kinematics is pretty fleshed out and usually smart enough to deduce how your body should look like based on a few key positions and rotations. [editline]23rd January 2017[/editline] Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is adding VR support! But... for Japan only...
You can't tell whether or not the player is big or just really close to the camera and where exactly they are in respect to the sensors/emitters in a 3D space.
Uh, the kinect is a depth sensor, figuring out distance is kind of what it does. And it's a pretty accurate one at that, just not reliable or fast enough for VR where the tracking needs to be spot on 100% of the time
Ah I forgot it had a depth sensor. Sorry, disregard what I said then.
I don't know if this a dumb question, but Why didn't they use Kinect-like camera system to detect body movement, instead of having players wearing sensors?
Kinect's skeleton solver isn't low latency enough for VR (around a few hundred milliseconds). Plus the fact you'd have to sync up tracking spaces, use multiple Kinects to fight occlusion, etc.
just curious, i recently got money because contest reasons and i was curious, if i had a max of 40$ (40$ because i want to buy yakuza 0 with the rest) to spend on a vr game right now what would be the best choice. i was focusing on maybe buying Onward because valve hired the dude so that must mean its good, Kingspray for art reasons (tilt brush costs too much imo despite how much i want it), or h3vr because people keep recommending it to me but not really sure which is the best. i dont think its worth $30 for job sim (then again all i know about is the gas station and office scene so) and im not really super interested in shooting galleries that arn't gun-range based (tho i heard space pirate is good). would care for eve Valkyrie if it wasn't 60 dollars. The vive has two free games coming with it, starseed episode 1 (never heard of it but apparently its good shit) and a shooting zombies simulator (not arizona sunshine, its the cartoony one). I also already own Elite Dangerous which had vr capabilities apparently, american/Euro truck sim, tabletop sim, and keep talking and nobody explodes. sucks RE7 is exclusive to PSVR for 12 months because sony.
Hi Orkel, Your replacement Rift unit is on its way! Visit your order page for your tracking number. If you have any questions or concerns about your order, please contact us. See you in Rift, - The Oculus Team
Well that was quick! Just 1 day after it arrived to the warehouse, a new one has been sent. I'm happy with Oculus support.

I dunno if youve already got it tho
Can easily recommend this, it's a wonderful range shooter/simulator with constant updates to make it play better, adding new weapons and mechanics, etc. The dev is super active on Youtube and r/vive with detailed changelogs and update videos.
Has the dev gotten over his hissy fit about Oculus or
My vive came today, lots of cables. I ordered a mount for the lighthouses to make sure I had one, but there's one in the box so I guess I have mounts for two rooms
