Dirt Rally doesn't natively support Vive though, does it?
It doesn't AFAIK. Gota use a wrapper I think.
A German company is renting Rifts for 70/month for some reason

Nah, youve got to use ReVive or something like that. I tried with mine, ReVive found all the Oculus setup stuff and I can play Oculus games on my Vive but for what ever reason, I cannot get Dirt to work :(

They are testing tech rentals in general.
I reckon that inside out tracking will probably remove the need for lighthouses. From what I've read, the hololens tracking is really good.
Transparent AR is much more forgiving tracking-wise than VR because you still get all the correct visual cues from the real world (with zero latency!), which gives you a kind of cockpit effect, and makes tracking flaws on the projected images much less noticeable.
Any subjective reports about HoloLens tracking should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt. It's still very impressive but if you used the same tech for VR right now you'd probably be seeing much less positive reviews, and more motion sickness.
Battle Fleet 2 now has VR support, for both Rift+Vive.
Dirt Rally works 100% in VR. Assetto Corsa doesn't have VR menus but is amazing in-game.
Tried Dirt Rally, I already have it but wasn't aware it supported VR because it's not in the VR tab on Steam for me.
It's ridiculous how natural it feels to drive the cars in VR with a steering wheel.
I still very much recommend Distance. It's quite a trip in VR.
Haha, another game i have that i didn't know supported VR. Gonna try it.
I think I found the only game where I prefer to use "teleportation" over the trackpad. I was a bit skeptical looking at the gameplay because the idea of jumping, sliding and wall jumping in VR sounded like it's too good to be true and I typically despise the "point to move" locomotion but the movement in this game is so smoooth

If only I had more space I wouldn't have to hold back so much while using the sword. What's a good excuse to convince family to get rid of essential furniture? :v:
One complaint I have about Dirt Rally in VR: It's very obvious you're not supposed to look behind you.
God, Bigscreen is awesome.
I'm considering throwing some bucks at this after it finally gets out of beta.
Nah I can't use things like bigscreen, you can't read jack shit. They won't really take off until we have high PPI screens.
Took me a minute to think about how old I am (23), I'm not sure that's a normal thing to have to do. :v:
Once you hit whatever age all restrictions on what you can do come off I hear age stops mattering.
Right now I know I'm 18, because y'know, 18 is when I become a legal adult who can vote and be drafted and have sex with people 18+, etc. Once I hit 21 I'll be able to drink alcohol and then I'll have very little reason to keep track of how old I am at that point.

Tbh the only appeal I see behind it is having a movie night or something with people who're miles away or something. It's one of those "we can all hang out without being together" things that I expect to rise up whenever VR becomes commonplace. Like, say I've got three friends off in other cities, but they all have a Vive/Oculus Touch and we want to play card games or some shit. All we gotta do is simply install Tabletop Simulator and bam, we're all hanging out playing cards talking to eachother miles and miles away from eachother.
any wireless headphones that don't interfere with the vive?
cannot be a headset either
any wireless headphones that don't interfere with the vive?

If you don't NEED to go wireless, there is a panel on the back of the vive:
[t]http://isitvr.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/2.jpg[/t]
If you pop this off (slide it down / away from the headset) and it reveals the ports, there is a spare USB port (to the right of the HDMI cable) on the back. You can plug a USB headphones in there, I currently have my Razor Kraken 7.1 plugged in and it works perfectly.

I tried to use my headphones with bluetooth, I thought, latency wont be THAT bad. But nope, it was noticeable, and it is not worth it. You can clearly hear difference, and you are annoyed that sound is behind actions. Get a small jack to jack cable, and plug it in to Vive, so it doesn't bother you. Like, 10cm cable.

I'm definitely not using USB headphones if I go with wired headphones. I need that USB port so I can plug my stupid ass looking USB fan into the headset for cooling down :v:

I keep seeing people use wireless and continue to wonder how they justify both price and latency.

That's a great idea, actually. Do you know which USB fan you're using specifically?

Got replacement Rift, still no HDMI connection. Guess it's my graphics card then. I'll have to try a HDMI to DVI adapter, if it works with that it's the HDMI port that's the issue and I'll have to RMA the card. At least I got a new and shiny Rift now :weeb:
[editline]30th January 2017[/editline]
Nevermind, it just started working for some reason! Already put on my coat to go to the store to buy an adapter, decided to try it one last time, and bam, screen is online.
when i was using my bluetooth iems with my friend's vive i barely (if at all) noticed any latency iirc
I remember when I first got my Rift, I had to press the HDMI cable in a bit tighter, since it had loosened during shipping.
Does the rift have a little access panel that pops off so you can take the cables out/push them in if need be?
My USB wireless Corsair Void headphones work fine, no noticeable latency or anything for me.
Does the rift have a little access panel that pops off so you can take the cables out/push them in if need be?
You can pop off the foam to access the cable, so yeah.

Bluetooth headphones are very convenient. Best money I spend on good headphones, they have noise cancelling, if you take off them music stops, you can have phone and computer connected at the same time, I save so much time. And I can walk around home with no problem. I see no latency in normal games, only in VR.

I have the same one! Definitely helped
I keep seeing people use wireless and continue to wonder how they justify both price and latency.
I mean I'm an engineer working in robotics so a ~$350 headset I use every day I'm not on a business trip is an expense that definitely does not bother me. In terms of latency, there's virtually nothing. Definitely nothing I can notice. I can plug it in wired if I want and I honestly can't tell the difference. My logitech G930 was an absolute piece of dumpster garbage designed by an idiot though and it was much cheaper so I can understand the impression of wireless headsets people have
In the end I just really like having isolated sound of a reasonable quality and the option to keep talking to friends while I do things other than sit directly in front of my computer, it's not all that strange.

Plantronic Backbeats? My friend had a pair and they were incredible. I'd buy them if I could afford to.
The only thing ear buds are good for is getting away with music at work
beatports look like they at least solve the issue of earbuds but 130$ holy shit
