No resolution in Zenimax case yet, the jury will return to "deliberate" it tomorrow.
Plantronic Backbeats? My friend had a pair and they were incredible. I'd buy them if I could afford to.
Backbeat 2 actually, they released new ones. I think those are even cheaper than first one's were at first.

I want to experience that last few seconds and I'm sad he cut it off before completing it, hanging off the outside up front as it goes over a valley bridge and into a tunnel

portability when traveling is a huge plus for me
plus my big ol' studio monitor headphones slip right off if I'm leaning forward to pick something up in the vive, at least with the earbuds I can loop the cord up through the headband so there's no downforce on them, far less likely to pop out
The guys who made the awesome Apollo 11 experience have now put up a kickstarter for Titanic VR, there's also an impressive demo you can download and try: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1436197736/titanic-vr

beatports look like they at least solve the issue of earbuds but 130$ holy shit
I use earbuds for passing out watching Twitch streams and YouTube videos in bed.
I usually wake up tangled in the cords.
I finally got Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades and it's great. I just tried the meat grinder for the first time and oh man I wish I was recording it because I was so scared I was shaking lol. The room with the [sp]spikes that slowly drop down from the ceiling[/sp] had my heart pounding because [sp]I couldn't figure out the levers. I got it at the last second, it was so close I was lying on the floor to avoid being skewered[/sp] :v:

I mean there's nothing wrong with this, but why? As Palmer so savagely put: Apple does not make good computers. Literally none of their computers met min spec for VR last time it was looked into, they're all flashy exterior with the performance of an intel compute stick. You're purely adding support for hackintoshes at that point.

Hey, that's an insult to Intel Compute Sticks.
I still own a Mac, though, and I love it. But yeah, it churns on Rimworld, let alone anything VR.
Actually, if anyone's interested, whether you want to see what VR is like or what H3VR is like, I'll probably be streaming some gameplay later
[editline]31st January 2017[/editline]
H3VR is really awesome, the way you can pull the stock out and flick through firing modes. I wonder if you can hand load mags.

One step closer to linux support
One step closer to linux support
Linux would've been a better first choice because then you don't have to rely on them making a VR-capable PC, since Linux is just an OS.
https://www.twitch.tv/dot12321 If anyone was interested in H3VR
Linux would've been a better first choice because then you don't have to rely on them making a VR-capable PC, since Linux is just an OS.
Linux support is already further along. The macOS support in this update mostly amounts to adding the ability to submit a texture in an macOS specific format to the API. The equivalents you'd want to use for Linux, OpenGL and Vulkan, were in there already. They've also publicly demoed running on Linux, which they haven't done for macOS.
I can't say for sure why they've bothered, but my best guess is that it's just exploratory to make sure that they could ramp up to macOS support in the future without hitting any show stopping hurdles. Kind of a hedge. I was reading this presentation from an Oculus guy earlier: https://www.khronos.org/assets/uploads/developers/library/2017-vulkan-devu-vancouver/011%20-%20Bringing%20Vulkan%20to%20VR%20-%20Cass.pdf and they'd done some exploratory work on a bunch of graphics APIs including Metal, pretty much for the same reason.
Went through the Titanic demo a few times and I still feel like I'm on that little dinky rowboat in the waves, as if the world is moving a bit, but I don't feel nauseous or anything. It's kinda like going to a rollercoaster and when you get home it still feels like you're moving. A strange feeling.

Nothing related to VR, but that landscape looks 100% like Malaysia down to the grass, trees, mountain and sky.
That makes it 500% realistic for me
destinations got a big ole update today which added quests and hats with steam inventory support, it's crazy. The hats are all ported over from various valve games like tf2 and l4d, they can be obtained freely via the quests

I've used MDR-7506s for years. They have a clean, crisp, neutral sound. They've also been super durable, aside from the earpads, which have ripped with time. Fairly comfy, though.
I like them. Some don't. They're good if you want actual transparent reproduction.

I've discovered a fondness in no equalizers or added bass/temple garbage
with the exceptions of remixes hearing music as the musician INTENDED it to sound is pretty nice tbh

Equalizers are used to compensate for shitty listening equipment. You don't need one with high-end headphones.

I cannot even think of where to start on how completely wrong that statement is.
I cannot even think of where to start on how completely wrong that statement is.
I was referring to an equalizer you'd use on a phone. Of course you'd be fucked without one when you're mixing a track.
I don't mean just on mixing. There's also variations between studio equipment and high end home equipment. Even if you end up having the exact same stuff used at the recording studio, you won't always have the right sound. A hardware or Software equalizer can allow you to tune the audio either to your personal preference, or closer to how it's supposed to sound. high quality equipment is not an end-all solution for listening, you also have to be able to use the tools right.
ZeniMax is awarded half a billion

Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey, and by extension Oculus, failed to comply with a non-disclosure agreement he signed.
The jury also said that Oculus did not misappropriate trade secrets as contended by ZeniMax.

Well, the MDR-V6s have been standard in a lot of recording studios for decades, and the 7506 is based on those with slightly improved bass response. So, if you want music as it sounded to the producer, they're as good a shot as any. Also, it's super easy to mod them to include a detachable mini XLR cable, which is cool.

Wait... How can you use an equalizer to tune your audio closer to how things are supposed to sound? There's some amount of logic there that I'm not getting. Only thing I can think of is A/B testing against a calibrated system, but...
Now we wait for the inevitable appeal boogaloo.
Maybe, but still, Oculus lost. Huge hit for PR. It's now the VR that "lost/copied/is a scam".
Not that I think this, it's just something people will assume.
