I really don't think it's necessary to talk about this on a public thread when we all have each other on steam n shit.
As much of a fan as I am of reading about ~drama~

don't do that pls

did you not read his original post on the matter?
he was lamenting about not being able to play rogue trader, and just brought up that he had hoped he could do something similar in his Star Wars game but it doesn't seem to be the route the game is going
that's not "i dont like the star wars game" that's "i was originally hoping for something different from the star wars game"

Well he wasn't even originally hoping for rogue trader either from it. We kinda started brainstorming how we could make it more like RT, and that was our plan up until last session when we became wanted criminals and need to hide out for a bit.
My whole point has been 'give it time, we can't steal a star destroyer in 2 sessions', I know the context behind our game and our players, only been with em for 4 or so years now haha
[editline]10th February 2016[/editline]
You're kinda missing half of my whole reasoning just because you legitimately have no way of knowing some of the convos that we've had about star wars so far
To sib: all I mean by this is that I want you to have fun in this game cause its got gr8 potential, and trust me I wanna go for the spess criminal empire angle just as much as you do. We just gotta clear our names first and get some investors is all

what the fuck do psionics have to do with anything
there's a billion and a half monsters that affect touch AC or skip AC entirely to go for the saving throws
and basically all offensive spells for that matter

Chill fam, it was just a joke about how psionics would still be a perfect trump to him (like a significant amount of things in 3.5/pf)

I can't imagine why I'd be upset that basically every time I've been in one of his games for the past year that every character I've made, most of whom I've really fucking liked as characters, have been either marginalized by the plot, killed, or had their relevant specialties completely fucking ignored and that maybe the one time we're in a game moderately close to something I've been wanting to play that maybe I'd just like to be able to do something without instantly getting fucked for it?
Because between eclipse phase, where I made a social character and was promptly shown that everything I was good at was superfluous, then the strange, where I made a combat character to fill that gap in the party then we end up in a situation where there's never any combat and acting IC for that got me fucking slapped and told to shut up because I wasn't helping, and then 13th age where my fighter was actually in a good position and had some actual effect on the game, then got fucking murdered second session, then aSoIaF where I once again made a character to fill some important missing role and was told, yet again, that the one thing I'm good at is something I'm never going to be allowed to do, and then we get to Star Wars where I finally think I have a winning combination, only for the ship part of my speciality just ending up something that once again is being totally glossed over and when I try to actually act like a fucking two-timing smuggler, what looks and sounds from my end like a supreme fucking ass-pull that says 'you done fucked up and are being fucking disproportionately punished for it' literally the INSTANT I do the thing, maybe I do feel like I do have something to be fucking mopey about

Admittedly no, I have no fucking clue about what you guys say in private, but I do know that if I joined a game specifically for X thing, and I made it clear to the others that I'm here specifically for X, but then it turns out, or at least seems, that X isn't even going to be a thing until dozens of sessions down the line, I'd be pretty vexed.
Like if you want to play Kingmaker specifically for the kingdom managing aspect, you're probably not going to appreciate the 50 sessions it takes to get to that point.

See this is what I mean, that's not even remotely the background for all of this. im not trying to be like 'elo you're stupid you don't know ', id just really rather not dig too deep into it in order to explain everything haha.
Basically rear originally had this idea of us doing a star wars game where we end up being kinda heroes. We have a really strange group for that, but we've been doing a good job so far. last session kinda threw a gear into the works purely cause we went wayyy out of our way to stir up some shit, so rears gotta prepare new content for us now.
he -did- say he's totally fine with what were trying to do, he's just gotta prepare stuff to let us do it while still having a fun plot

I honestly don't think the bounty is disproportionate, seeing as we just sold the rebellions ace-in-the-sleeve to the empire for pocket change and fucked them over hard.
I mean being fair, the empire is only upset with us for smuggling charges which we can bribe off easy, I don't see why we don't just try and get into their good graces and then steal their shit

Technically nothing stops you from making a hundred wands that all trigger when you say "pewpew" and tying them together.
Also nothing's stopping you from making like, six potions and tying the corks together and drinking em all at once. Or better just just have a flask filled with fifty cure light wound potions and just be like "I drink three ounces of potion."
Except balance of course.

Once upon a time I made a suit of scale mail out of the alternate potion tiles you can make that activate when broken- Whenever I got struck a few of em would break against me, generally healing me for more damage than I took. :v:

Technically then activating each wand is still a standard action. :v:

No- That would be a use activation magical item. A word activated magical item is another thing. I mean you could easily rule that you still need to be like, holding each of them individually and shouting the word only activates one of the wand, but that's not how voice activation works imo.

Far cheaper to just make a ton of scrolls to that end though, or if you are stronger, make THOUSANDS of tiny little shreds of confetti, each of which has an explosive rune on it, then blast it at people with one of those confetti cannons.

Wands are spell trigger items. They always need a standard action to activate them.
Hell, command word items are a standard action to activate too, despite talking being a free action. The rules are set up to avoid this exact issue, even if the way they go about doing it isn't logical in setting.
Actually, use activation are the only kinds of items that don't need an action specifically to do so, since they're the kind of item you activate just by, well, using them. Which includes say, wearing a ring, or swinging a sword.
Far cheaper to just make a ton of scrolls to that end though, or if you are stronger, make THOUSANDS of tiny little shreds of confetti, each of which has an explosive rune on it, then blast it at people with one of those confetti cannons.
Yeah that's explicitly why explosive runes is an awful spell by design.
But scrolls are a lot more expensive per charge than a wand is.

...you have to read the explosive runes for them to trigger
if you read one of them, you'll just destroy the rest of the confetti harmlessly. what a waste of magic

There's a couple varieties. One you have to read, one you have to 'break' in some fashion, and one you can even activate by simply touching it. The confetti one would be the last form. The spell has gone through revision quite a few times over the editions!

huh
I've never used it in any edition other than 3rd, didn't know it was different before then. Good thing they changed it to be less stupid I guess.
Some quick notes (just some things that stood out, without thinking too much about this) -
Hide armour isn't better than studded, it's actually worse - but cheaper. So Hide armour shouldn't be a reinforced version of the studded one.
Chain shirts and breastplates are supposed to be very light, even concealable under articles of clothing in some cases, so I would put those in a seperate class from hide, scale and half-plate armours - possibly some kind of protective vests or protection layered into clothing.
Ring Mail is very bad armour, I would avoid puttign it on a similar level as your other armours. It's actually worse than scale - consider making it some kind of cheap heavy armour, like just scrap plating or something.
Leather armour doesn't give better protection than padded, it only gives better weight and mobility.
You were probably going to do this anyway, but make sure the players get to choose their own names. Even if in the story the names are chosen by the organisation, the players should still get to decide the names they want the organisation to give to their characters.
It's the equivalent of a permanent Shield of Faith spell. The game isn't balanced for that, but it won't completely break the game unless your party is finding other ways to boost your defense up (like stacking it with a real shield of faith spell from a cleric, or some other concentration buff).
That said, I'd never allow it personally.
Thanks for the suggestions! I took those into advisement and am starting to put everything in one place on a spreadsheet.
One other point I could use some help with: I want to include the ability to purchase more advanced forms of weaponry and weapon materials. For example, the standard blade type for most weapons will be Tritonium Vibroblade. Other options I've thought of so far will be Chainblade, Heated Plasmacoil blade, and Lightblade. Without getting too damn complicated, I'd like to include cost multipliers and/or different effects.
As an example, a Chainblade might add +2 to damage, but impose a -1 to hit and cannot be used for sneak attacks? Multiplies the cost of the weapon by ten? Or maybe I go by the magic item pricing and consider them common, uncommon, rare, etc magic items depending on what the different blade material accomplishes? It's not going to be immediately important, since the party will just be using basic equipment for some time, but I'd appreciate the input of anybody who's interested in helping to shape this out. :)

I wouldn't worry too much about tons of different materials (something Pathfinder does, but 5e avoids) - just look at magical items when you need inspiration for a more advanced weapon. Simple +1, +2 and +3 weapons are a straightforward way to represent improved materials or advanced technology - more unusual weapons can represent weapons with strange qualities. Off the top of my head, "Vicious Weapon" - +7 Damage on a critical hit - could serve as you "Chainblade."

The newest and nearly finished version of my map.
Things to do:
-Draw more detailed mountains/hills/dunes
-Make a proper looking legend
-Add some cool looking sea monsters
I could not for the life of me get the capital names to look good though :(
I managed to hook the map up to a google-maps-style viewer, which switches to detailed area maps when you zoom in on certain locations(for now just the Barrens).
