Oh yeah, I'm still looking for a D&D 5e group to play with. Saturdays/Sundays are best for me and I go by CST. I don't like text chat for anything. Much rather do voice. I'm cool with video chat too.
just had the saturday 3.0 game dropped, gonna convert over to 5e because one of our players was having a troubled time learning both 5e and 3e at the same time, which is understandable. I mean 3e was shit for the monk I was playing, but I was gonna kill him off and create a druid. Looks like i'm now on a hunt for probably a 3.5 or pathfinder game. 5e is good and all, but the complexity of 3.5/pathfinder is it's own fun as well. also i have never played pathfinder, and so far have only played like two sessions in 3.0, not 3.5 but i think its cool. I understand a lot of pathfinder's stuff is just free online?
also not a cantrip, thankfully (Detect Magic as a cantrip is utterly ridiculous in Pathfinder)
you think it being a cantrip in pathfinder is ridiculous? the sorcerer in my game has a familiar that has permanent detect magic on anything around it. And detect evil. Its automatic.
Our DM has grown wise to the fact that I'm very cautious about the possessed helmet I own and has forced me to take wisdom rolls to take on and off the helmet. Initially I had hopes of appeasing the spirit and working together but now it's becoming very clear he just wants my taut, rippling half orc bod as his own.

They don't even loot the guns of all the corpsec they murder en-mass like, every time they do a job! Hell if they'd ever bothered with it they'd probably be up a couple hundred grand. All those 3k smartlinked assault rifles and SMGs and 10k+ machine guns would have been a pretty penny, and the worst that could happen with those was that they'd be ID-locked or explode in your hand half of what killed the pathfinder game I was trying to run was because nobody would try and see what the gauntlet of power they were trying to destroy even did, which sort of destroys things development-wise when the overriding motivation to do the thing is only because your cosmic bullshit sense says 'it bad', not because there's any practical reason or you have seen first hand what it does just sat in a saddlebag the whole game aside from the rogue poking it a few times and deciding it wasn't valuable

First real job on my naga, bank heist on a smallish bank(think the first one in payday 2), we had no decker, no sneaky character, and no breaking and entering character, somehow with a ton of mage bullshittery no one realized we were even there :v:
i literally just did that two pages ago, what are you on about
I tried to add you on steam to express interest but it doesn't look like you get on often, so I'm not sure if there is still an availability.
Had my first major, "what the fuck are you doing?" moment with my players tonight. It ended up with one of my players deciding to go off by herself and randomly decide to splash acid on a mob enforcer's face. She was alone, and the place was crawling with gangscum. Why she went and did this in the first place was confusing, considering this mob boss was the person who gave them their contract, but why she tried to stand and fight when the screaming guard called over five others is... I don't even know, man. My other players kept saying, "what are you doing?" And she was all, "haha, I don't know. I just want to talk to him!" She died. Would have anyway. I gave her this one freebie. "A hail of bullets cuts you down. The world begins to swim out of focus as you hit the concrete. Soon, everything fades to black." That was it for her character for the rest of the night. At the end, I hand of God her. "Your eyes flutter open. You are in a hospital bed, but this is no hospital. A single naked bulb casts its light on concrete walls." That's where Ill pick it up next time. Afterwards I was all, "dude, that was unwise. That would have been character death, but since this is just your second night with this character I'll cut you some slack this time. Not gonna save you next time though!"
Embrace the insanity, once your players get strong enough they'll kill and steal whatever they want
Hm, can't decide what to do next on my soaky adept naga, I could initiate but I don't really know much about adept initiations and what's good or not, I could grab catlike to get 14 sneak dice total, or get a martial art to get stuff like throws and clinch. I have 14 karma currently, anything else I should be considering?
its always the good games that go ignored, someone will join someday probably maybe?
i already have 5 players m8 [sp]Granted most of those were guys I was already hanging with before asking for players here, but that's a minor detail[/sp]
I tried to add you on steam to express interest but it doesn't look like you get on often, so I'm not sure if there is still an availability.
Oh shit I totally forgot to log onto steam for the last few days WHOOPSIE, sorry about that

I'll have to discuss it with the GM, but I might be able to get you a spot.
I've heard the phrase of being "that guy" being used, and my general understanding of it of it is a player who is either too controlling or annoying or meta gaming or whatever? Anyone got examples of those guys that you have played with?
I've heard the phrase of being "that guy" being used, and my general understanding of it of it is a player who is either too controlling or annoying or meta gaming or whatever? Anyone got examples of those guys that you have played with?
That Guy's definition isn't that strict. It's, well... That Guy. Think of the RPG groups where there was that guy who didn't fit the rest of the group, who did things wrong, or even detracted form the quality of the game. That Guy.
I've heard the phrase of being "that guy" being used, and my general understanding of it of it is a player who is either too controlling or annoying or meta gaming or whatever? That Guy can be anyone - they could be eating all the snacks, be incredibly meta, or flat out try to rape your pet iguana.
I've heard the phrase of being "that guy" being used, and my general understanding of it of it is a player who is either too controlling or annoying or meta gaming or whatever? Anyone got examples of those guys that you have played with?
That Guy is, at it's core, being the odd-one-out to the extent that you start to detract from the fun. So, if someone talks about playing with a "group of That Guys", they are, in reality, That Guy.
On the topic of evil items, one of my favorite things is vaguely defining things or leaving things up to the imagination. Magical Burst in particular lets me have loads of fun with vaguely defined magical artifacts... or consumables. Our group's in-joke has become "Tentacle Grape." A bottle of purple soda with a picture of an anime girl being grappled by purple tentacles on it dispensed by a magical trans-dimensional vending machine. The shopkeep all but begs them not to open it inside when they get it. There are a few bottles laying around in peoples' inventories, but nobody's been brave enough to open one yet. Suggestions have been made as to using them like flashbangs, popping the cap and chucking it in a room, but nothing's happened yet.
Oh man that would be amazing! Please let me know how that turns out.
Sent you a PM.
So I made my character with a sort of dark backstory, having committed some war crimes a la Boone in Fallout: New Vegas. I intended to just sort of play a quiet loner but as time has gone on I've noticed a few people really take an interest in the character and the vague hints I would drop about his past. Even a budding bromance has developed between the Drow and I where initially his player was sure both characters would hate each other. And this is great because it means at a moments notice the DM could reveal my secret and suddenly all that trust just shatters into lovely, lovely drama.
Ran the first session of my Demon game, this morning, minus one player(technically two).
Mr. Heart and Ms. Diamond, two recently-Fallen Demons, discovered that had a sort of connection; their missions began with them being summoned in the same room, containing a chair with a machine of some sort attached to the back, albeit at different times, and then escorted out and to a location fitting their Cover by someone in a suit. They met up with each other in a public park, and began to discuss plans. Of course, this was made more difficult by a man sitting down at the bench across from them to eat a sandwich(Heart chose to take a Dramatic Failure on a roll to look for anybody watching them, I didn't feel like immediately throwing an Angel at them, and we all forgot Demons could speak pretty much any language). They stuck to less-conspicuous language, for the time being. They settled on retracing the route Ms. Diamond was taken on after leaving the Facility, and found their way to an abandoned building with a parking garage underneath it, right next to the main office of Ellsworth Neuroscience, a medical research company that was habitually donating MRI machines to hospitals state-wide. They circled the block, for a bit, to look for anything else unusual and try to avoid showing up on security cameras too much, and found the apartment building that Ms. Diamond's previous handler lived in(she checked the place out after her Fall, but before the end of the prelude), and a gated alleyway leading towards the Ellsworth building. After some deliberation, they climbed into the abandoned building and looked around, discovering that it housed a bum Diamond was sort of familiar with(he nearly pissed on her when she was in the police station during her prelude). He ended up following them around the building, after Heart gave him $50 to not go literal murderhobo on them. They learned that the building previously belonged to a company called Rousseau Holdings, but was sold to Carmen Ellsworth(owner of the company) after they went bankrupt 2 years ago. Finally, they headed into the parking garage beneath the building, and Ms. Diamond got into the elevator that previously brought both of them to that garage after they were summoned. Heart chose not to follow her, so she pressed the button for the highest floor the elevator would go to. It opened up into Carmen Ellsworth's office. She asked what Diamond, whose Cover is a 14-year-old girl, was doing in her office. Diamond responded by making a near-direct reference to how she escaped from her handler after her Fall, then making a veiled threat before stepping back into the elevator and leaving before security could show up. Heart took Diamond to his bolthole, an extra-dimensional safe room, on the other side of town, for a bit, to discuss what just happened. Diamond grabbed a gun from the bolthole's locker, then they left and parted ways.
Next session: Cover maintenance, the introduction of the third player, and more corporate espionage! :dogcited: I also made quite a few references, mostly direct because none of the players have seen it, to the show Dollhouse.
