I have a really bad habit. All but one of the five characters I have made that are involved or were involved in long campaigns share a hatred of elves. I don't know what to do about it. How do I deal with my inexplicable hatred for those tree hugging prancing la la fruits? I almost called another character "Luthandriel" instead of their name. I never mess up the names of other characters. My hatred of elves is tearing me apart.
Yep, although despite my bitching I think the only things I've actually outright removed/banned is possession magic for being a combination of unclear, extremely powerful and difficult to counter without having a shitload of magic stuff the rest of the team can't interact with, and the wireless bonuses on trauma patches that makes it automatically stabilize people instead of it being a roll based on the character's body stat, since every other method of stopping method of stopping someone bleeding out requires some pretty good skills, equipment and/or spells, being able to to smack a cheap patch on someone to make them not die really lessens the importance of having medical skills on the team and makes getting shot a lot less deadly as long as someone can drag you away.
My only real change, in the interest of not short-changing the people who didn't put ten billion bucks into initiative, is that it doesn't decrement and give high-initiative people extra turns (although in exchange full defenses and suppression fire work a lot better on high-init people so they only thing they're really losing out on is broken action economy) and actually giving people aside from the sammy a chance in combat. Which is mostly a moot point because the only person who can even remotely keep up with the sammy in a fight is the mage, and only because he can cast AoE's for days but at least it gives a chance for the rigger, the face, and the decker to contribute when it all devolves into shooting instead of making them wait half an hour for their turns then another hour while the sammy and mage take all of theirs
but initiative increases are easy to get and help literally everyone
but initiative increases are easy to get and help literally everyone
It's also just a simple matter of it's more of a pain in the ass than it's worth with roll20's initiative tracker and absolutely nobody is hurt by it so whatever, first-shot bonus is already so high in Shadowrun that people getting extra actions for being fast is just insult to injury

I can understand the decker being on-par if they're being careful in coldsim and the sam has jacked their init up to about as high as possible, but riggers can just throw more drones at the problem.

No shit, Sherlock. More or less the same goes for the face. Social skills aren't exactly useful in a fight, but being a good face doesn't take nearly as much investment as any other archetype, so you're in a perfect position to branch out into combat. Ironically, the mage is usually the guy who falls behind in initiative, since the only way a pure mage has to boost initiative is to keep a spell sustained all the time. A few ways to get around it but they all some sort of catch.
500 nuyen for a single use item isn't exactly cheap boyo!!!
No karma, no rolls and a simple action though.
No karma, no rolls and a simple action though.
Someone else has to waste an action in the middle of a firefight, and get over to you if they aren't already by you. It doesn't heal at all, it just stops you from bleeding out further, you're still incapacitated afterwards, and the wireless needs to be on for it to be automatic. And it still costs 500 nuyen for a single use patch.
Guys how hard is it to start GM'ing games? Me and a few friends of mine are hoping to start a pathfinder game with the humble RPG books bundle and I was hoping for a few hints and tips if possable.
gming is a lot about creativity and how well you can kindle the imagination
gming is a lot about creativity and how well you can kindle the imagination
You do also need a solid grasp of the rules, and good fucking luck having that for pathfinder if you've never played D&D before at all.
So theres a new humble bundle out with over 300 dollars worth of pathfinder books
Elves should be destroyed at all costs, they are nothing but a pestilence on the world.
how dare you i'll fokkin smack ye in the gabber m8 then i'll kick ye in the shins and i'll fackin punch ya in the jerk if ye don't stop bein a dick to ma elfs
I have never been more upset than I have at this very moment in real talk though, productive session. Fucking weenie-ass mage got a girl, the face and GMPC sammy went and got high due to the second coming of BEE ACID, and the rest of the party stopped a gang of first-time shadowrunners from doing their job
Elves should be destroyed at all costs, they are nothing but a pestilence on the world.
There are two kinds of Elves I absolutely adore. Aen Elle, Imperialist Space Elves like from The Witcher, and Slavic Elves like from those /tg/ stories. If you're playing your elf like a tree-hugging hippie then you're doing something wrong.
We played paranoia and blew up a military base with a black hole unplanned within 2 turns of starting
For some reason I always get stuck with a snobby noble elf ranger with charisma as a dump stat. Whether or not they're actually mean has been varied, but it seems to be a running trope. I like to attempt to stick some personality into my characters, most of the other guys seem to take a backseat on the whole roleplay thing. Except the guy who came to the local gameshop looking for LARP and found us, he is GREAT at roleplay
