if anyone needs a player *fingerguns pewp ew pew* hit me up
hey I need a player for cyberp- waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait a minute also yeah I need/could use a 4th player for Cyberpunk 2020, unless Krinkels magically rises back from the dead hit me up, warning: if you're in Europe shit's gonna be super inconvenient unless you can deal with not sleeping on Fri-Sat nights
So I'm planning on starting a new campaign with some friends of mine and was wondering what a good system/setting would be. I've played all variants of the 40k systems and Pathfinder in the past, but we've grown tired of the 40kverse and Pathfinder felt a bit clunky. I've been meaning to give 5E a try, but I hear all D20 systems tend to have the same issues and I should look to other systems like Burning Wheel or 13th Age, but if 5E's actually good I'd be willing to give it a shot.

There are many issues that inherent to basically all D20 systems, including 5e, but they all have their own unique niggles as well.
I have an opportunity to join a Shadowrun 4e game on the condition that I make a hacker. I'm not sure I want to though, cause I don't like BP build, and the hacking rules make me want to shoot myself in the face. Anybody know where I can find a better explanation, and maybe some tips on making a hacker in 4e?

Nexi are hella powerful vs commlinks since they can run a buttload more programs at once, but annoying to put together since you have to buy parts individually, but I'd recommend dumping most of your money into a nexus and taking restricted gear if you want to be a dedicated hacker. Only issue is that they're desktop PC sized so you're not going to physically sneak it into places easily.
why the hell are these madmen trying to run a Shadowrun 4e game with a hacker PC that's just wrong, man
So does playing over skype work? Anyone doing this?
So does playing over skype work? Anyone doing this?
Most people who play online play over skype.
Or they use fantasy grounds [editline]3rd October 2015[/editline] Or tabletop sim
roll20
So my group fell through due to scheduling issues and I need to scratch my GM'n itch. Thinking of doing something a bit weirder and higher concept than usual for myself, A Supers Weird West game inspired by things such as the Dark Tower series/Deadlands/Jonah Hex. Going with the Wild Talents system on the lower power end of things but still enough for a healthy amount of customization and supernatural nonsense. Haven't got the setting 100% nailed down yet but thinking of starting within the next 2-3 weeks around 8pm BST, roleplaying/system experience not needed. Using roll20 chat for in character and VOIP for out of character chat. PM me on Facepunch or send me a steam message if you're interested.
Oh my god The dialogue in Spartacus is glorious "Grab hold of cock and be a man" "Once again the gods spread the cheeks to ram cock in fucking ass" Giving me a lot of ideas for a character
Only issue is that they're desktop PC sized so you're not going to physically sneak it into places easily.
But 4e was cool because everything was wireless, so you just needed to sit in a Van outside the place the rest of the team was breaking in.
But 4e was cool because everything was wireless, so you just needed to sit in a Van outside the place the rest of the team was breaking in.
~fun~
But 4e was cool because everything was wireless, so you just needed to sit in a Van outside the place the rest of the team was breaking in.
Everything in 5e is wireless too, just that now you have to actually deal with wireless signals and how they degrade from you sitting in a metal box two blocks away when the building has wireless negation on the external walls. [editline]4th October 2015[/editline] Really 5e's hacking is much nicer than 4's, things have structure with the access control of grids and the changes to devices/nodes/hosts instead of just being able to connect to basically anything, the marks system giving varying amounts of control over devices outside of combat and a huge tactical advantage in combat is a nice system, and the wireless bonuses on gear and cyberware might not make the most practical sense but it's a good balancing point giving small advantages in exchange for vulnerability and visibility to hackers in combat, where hackers previously had very few options for helping the team and stealth meant just turning everything off and using cables.

Due to some crazy encounters, I've leveled up twice in not too much time, and got a Gold Dragon Wrymling pet. I'm the only one in my group who can ride it. I named him Sunnyside and I love him.
Is this the old movie or the tv series?
The TV show. 0:25 onwards. And that's just one of the tamer examples from season one.
It'd be great if I stopped misreading the Deathdealer entry in Dark Heresy. [editline]4th October 2015[/editline] Anybody else ever misread a rule in a book, and have that misread interpretation go through several different interpretations? I must've gone through 3 at this point.
I'm really confused If I were to set up a game with a couple of people Do I just need Dungeon Master Guide and a Creatures book?
I'm really confused If I were to set up a game with a couple of people Do I just need Dungeon Master Guide and a Creatures book?
Pretty much everything else released physically for 5e is an adventure setting, so I'd say yes.
I'm really confused If I were to set up a game with a couple of people Do I just need Dungeon Master Guide and a Creatures book?
For 5e you need the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide and optionally the Monster Manual.
Alright, I settled on 5E after giving it a look, but I stumbled into another problem. It was easy to find stuff on Golarion in Pathfinder, but DnD seems to have a shitload of settings, where do I look to find information as to the one I should pick. As for making my own, I'd say I'm not experienced enough yet to get into that.
For 5e you need the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide and optionally the Monster Manual.
Wrong, you need the Players Handbook, the Dungeon Masters Guide, and CERTAINLY the Monster Manual. Like, for real, the monster manual is pretty crucial, moreso than the DMG honestly. Wizards has been releasing small excerpts from the upcoming Sword Coast Adventure Guide: Preface Table of Contents Mastermind Archetype Urban Bounty Hunter Plus a new cantrip (Green Flame!):

Greyhawk is also pretty straightforward, as is Mystara. Dark Sun, Ravenloft, Spelljammer and Planescape are all interesting but less conventional settings, so you probably don't want to start with those.
Was it a mistake to give the Sister of Battle a Flamer with a backpack ammo supply+extended magazine? I feel like our combat encounters are about to get very hot :v:
