So my solid snake like character got to disarm a nuclear bomb (yes in a pathfinder game) that some goblins dug up. The party was busy getting high with them while I sneaked around and did the dirty work. Then we went and killed the orcs occupying their village so they could go home.

pathfinder confirmed as post apocalyptic
it actually takes place ten thousand years after nuclear apocalypse
Our Ranger whose new to DnD finally settled on a thick southern accent to best represent his kindly but simple 6 int Elf ranger. Our most recent quest had us discovering the skeleton of the mayor who'd been brewed alive in a cauldron. He was very amendment about the idea that we could ask his bleached bones some questions. Our Druid had to... explain to him the situation fully.
At this point he wailed out "YOU MEAN HE DEAD?" and began actually weeping into his hands.

Tell him to think about his rabbit animal companion while you ready your crossbow as part of the campaign finale.

if my gm told me that i couldn't choose what stats i wanted id tell him to fuck off

In the campaign I mentioned above, before I joined them there were some hilarious times with the 6 wis sorcerer. Same dungeon I met them in, the ranger had just pacified 3 baby green dragons just before the sorcerer completed doing literally the first thing he thought of: using his artifact (we all got one for plot reasons) to maximize fireball. Instead of 3 baby green dragons there were now 3 black spots, with 2 more around the corner once the party went that way. Also he almost caught himself in it. Later on, he ended up meeting their father who was pissed, but restrained enough to ask him why he thought it was a good idea to literally vaporize children who weren't even trying to attack at the time. His response was golden. "My dad taught me to not trust anything that's eye level with my groin." The only reason the sorcerer is not dead from this meeting is because the dragon decided to make an open-ended deal with the sorcerer: the sorcerer gets to live, but he'll have to do something for the dragon at some time. Also the fact that this was more of a test dungeon to gauge the party's strength as a whole and the DM didn't want to kill off anyone quite THAT quickly, plus now he has another plot hook.

what
rolls are the most fun way to do it, roll your 6 numbers (for D20s anyways) and let them place them in whichever stats they choose.

I think he means that the GM saying 'you rolled too low, reroll', not just saying your stats outright
that moment when you don't roll lower than a 16 for stats

I don't disagree there, im saying that if i roll a 6 im getting a 6. maybe its just because i play with a group of people who are all hella experienced with tabletops, but i trust pretty much everyone i play with to do a convincing braindead character while still being an asset
So ontop of the Bow of Soup I now have plans for a Battle Bard with a bandolier of flutes!
I'm playing a wizard with 7 wisdom and it's great

He has a sick automatic soundtrack if he walks around in heavy wind. Such a bad ass he doesn't even have to try.
anyone got some good bladesinger recommended spells besides the obvious mage armor, blur, that sort of thing

I shit you not during one of his foraging trips he found a sickly rabbit in the corrupted forest that he's been nursing back to health.
Today I have learned a valuable lesson about never being enthusiastic and assuming that just because my character has had a good streak of not being a cosmic chew toy, it's a good idea to say that 'yes we should do the fight this session despite being down two players because what's the worst that could happen right' and the alternative was not having a session at all and I wanted to play
because it turns out that even a streak of good things can be broken, and a character that I love and is more or less a direct representation of myself insofar as personality, can be horribly and pretty permanently maimed as a result
like, to the point that after the scene where it was revealed, I needed to go take a shower and a cry because I was actually feeling physically ill. Because holy fucking shit, just when things start going my way I just get smashed down again
I can't say I'm terribly surprised that it happened in hindsight, since as I've said I basically was chew toy for the whole campaign so far, but it's just god fucking damn it's fucked up that this can get to me so much

Any of the melee-cantrips that SCAG adds are quite good.

'Amber, however, is like a fucking burn victim with a large sewn-shut scar along her chest. Over-half of her body is burn-scarred even after days of serious surgery and magical-aid. The left side of her face was burned nearly to the bone and her left eye is all but gone. Some of her equipment even sealed itself to her skin and some pieces were taken out when possible. She looks fucking horrendous now and is wrapped in bandages like the Burning Man, essentially''

Nah, I hate rolling stats. At least for characters I want to play seriously or for an extended amount of time. For a more light-hearted or short game, sure, I can go with that.

That was the situation, yes
Rear can suck it because no matter how much he tries he will never be as metal gear as me at this moment

That feel when you don't roll higher than a 5 all session.
;_;
Meanwhile in the EVIL campaign
We were searching for a guard that has been up to some funny business, when the GM introduced a talking dog. He really wanted us to trust this talking dog. We've spent the last hour mutilating this... Odd creature in various ways to find out why it won't die. I think the GM really really wanted us to trust this... Not dog.
I don't know why he assumed we would do the less-evil thing and not the MOST evil thing.
He keeps foiling our attempts to murder it by implying it's something immortal that we can't kill.
I don't know why he assumed we would do the less-evil thing.

Psh, you say that now but I distinctly remember taunting you and calling you Ishmael and Venom Amber at the time and you were all "noooooo :("

Amen. I'm fine with some variability sometimes because it's what I cut my teeth on, but I don't even prefer that. I might be a little jaded from a time when the GM's girlfriend managed to roll multiple 18s and nothing lower than a 15, while the first 2/3 of my sets were unplayable according to the rules and the last one left me with two marginally positive modifiers. Whee!
I shit you not during one of his foraging trips he found a sickly rabbit in the corrupted forest that he's been nursing back to health.
I'm amazed you can even have a Ranger with Intelligence that low. I figured he would've tried to eat a poisonous mushroom or something and died by now.
