I mean recommended as in not going to die in one hit. So far I've configured a build at 58HP 17AC but I'm worried I've neglected con a bit too much, 10.
That's pretty low, yeah. You wanted probably at least 12, but monks are glass cannons to begin with. Don't worry too much about it! With all the shit you can do, you can kill them before they get you! Especially if you grabbed Alert to NEVER BE SURPRISED! +5 Initiative too, so you can almost guarantee first round is yours, then you stunning blow and pulverise them, whoever they are! Almost NOTHING is immune to Stunning in 5e, it's crazy.
Me and my mates want to start playing tabletop RPGS. One of my friends plays D&D with his brothers mates. That's all the experience we have. He's volunteered to be DM, but obviously he doesn't have any idea what the fucks he's doing. How long would it take him to be able to DM semi-competently? We'd probably just play Pathfinder or something.

UHHH. Dropping into Pathfinder without knowing what you are doing is ASKING for trouble. There are SO fucking many rules and variables to keep track of.

5e is a better choice, it's easier for both new DMs and Players.
Dont be dissuaded though, pathfinder can be awesome if you really put the effort in. 5e is the easier choice though
Pathfinder was my first game and I loved it, but then I had a crew of people who knew what they were doing to help me out. So unless you LOVE getting help, I recommend 5e.
Yeah don't worry, i just have no idea what i'm talking about. 5e is what my mate is playing anyway.
I don't find Pathfinder that complex, more streamlined than D&D3.5 at least. Then again I like Mekton Zeta's creation rules and used to play hackers and riggers in Shadowrun 4th ed and think adepts with cyberware are great so maybe I'm not a good judge for complexity.
I really don't think pf is that hard to get to grips with
it was my first tabletop game

It was the first I played as well but I can't imagine it being a great first GMing experience when you have to remember all of the game balance stuff like the right balance in combats/magical items and such when a newbie GM already has so much else they're worrying about.
just stop worrying
seriously, the only problem with the mechanics is if you worry about them
the intricacies will come to you in time, the basics are the most important part and they're basic
Still looking for a few players for a Supers Weird West game starting in a few weeks, 8pm BST Sundays. No experience necessary, using Roll20 IC and VOIP OOC.
Does anyone have any tutorials on how to create a character, be a gm, and generally playing Shadowrun 5e?
I've looked at the quick-start guide and none of it makes and sense to me.
...Then again I like Mekton Zeta's creation rules...
I will say that I am an avid fan of Mekton Zeta's creation rules too. It's the only system out there that I know of where you can basically make any vehicle, suit of armor, space ship, or mecha (obviously) and have them all be compatible in the same system.
Using the system, I've made things ranging from replica units of mecha in various games or anime to down to earth sneaking suits that you'd probably see in something like MGS. It's a pain to learn at first, but it's fun when you have the tools to create literally anything and everything that your character uses (though they are nice and provide you with a wide variety of prestatted gear for characters if you don't wanna make it yourself.).
Well, officially, there's fluff for everything up to 40,999. The thing is, in-setting, if it ever advances past that point, everything goes boom. 40k has more, bigger impending apocalypses than old WoD did, because of how massive they make everything.
Even in the RPGs, at least with DH2e, the default sector you're in iirc has a warp storm that will explode and wipe out everything in a huge area the moment the clock ticks over to 41,000.
Of course, some people run things in 41k anyways, because fuck the canon.
Technically that's not true in fluff, there's one piece of literature from the black library that regularly goes beyond the 41st millenium. That honor belongs to CIAPHAS CAIN: HERO OF THE IMPERIUM. They're compiled over 100 years past the start of the start of the millennium too!

Also the Dawn of War games (I think) and Space Marine go past 40,999
Apparently drow don't like it when you constantly call them "bitch boy."
I think I need one player for a PF dungeon crawl since I have 3 and a maybe but 5 is manageable anyway, the catch is it's running this Saturday and next, 7PM BST so you kinda need a character sheet done by tomorrow, yell at me if you're interested.
You will need to be able to endure Elowin playing a blasty sorcerer/arcanist/wizard, someone else is going to be playing a martial character, so you can play pretty much anything but a rogue or divine caster would be great.
[sp]PMing me in here would be OK but elsewhere would be better, I'm 'neeerts' on skype, @neeerts on twitter and @nerts on telegram, twitter/telegram preferred since I'm at work [/sp]
perhaps instagram would be a more convenient method of contact for you
my favorite class is lightning bolt

Well I mean you could add me on steam but I don't know if I'll be at home much this evening and their phone app is somehow worse than Skype's.

This program is pretty handy for putting characters together, a little buggy though, and you'll still need the books.

So it's a one-off dungeon crawl, not a campaign? What level are the characters?
So it's a one-off dungeon crawl, not a campaign? What level are the characters?
Yep, I haven't GMed in forever so it's just something simple, 5th level, 20 point buy, 10500 gold to spend.
Played my first D&D game yesterday with my friend and two other guys. My bud and I hit the gym a lot so our characters reflect that with me being an 11 feet tall 1200 pound goliath warden (Treebeard) and him being my brother, a 10 feet tall 1000lb goliath barbarian named Bloodbeard. Goliaths arent supposed to have hair so my player just has moss glued to his face. The other player is an elf ranger Alucard, nothing crazy.
So we start out transporting a caravan to town, stop by a stonehenge area to take a break, Alucard climbs a tree just barely (notoriously shit at climbing, failed 6 rolls the entire game) and rolls perception to find a small goblin tribe.
I think there is 9 of the little shit mongloids, the first one gets smeared into dust as I push the stonehenge on him, the second pretty well blows up after making a crater with a boulder I honestly shouldn't have been allow to pick up to pick up. I get to the leader who hacks at my knee with his wand, breaking it and doing 2 damage, I didnt have an attack move left so I rolled to just fall face forewards on him, crushing him under 1200lbs of goliath.
Bloodbeard cleaves one straight in half, the second also in half, and same with the third, causing the last two to drop there weapons and surrender because holy fuck look at the carnage! Alucard rolls a 20 to get down from the tree and ends up doing a triple backflip, moving 10 tiles away.
Loot the area, find short swords and other crap, barbarian wants to rip their heads off and play target practice with Alucard since he didnt kill anyone, I motion to shove one inside a chest, and tie the other to the wagon (both goliaths have a chest tied with rope to our back instead of backpacks) so we do that since with chaotic neutral we'll sell them into slavery.
Further down the road we find a looted caravan, check for loot and tracks, 3 human tracks, half a dozen smaller tracks (goblin tracks after we took the goblin out of the chest and forceably matched his feet to the tracks) and a bigger set. Elf follows the tracks to a clearing, barely climbs a tree, and finds a camp. We decide the merchants are probably anxious to get going so we'll come back later, I roll a 20 for stealth, go to Alucard (DM described it as "as you survey the area from the tree you start to feel a light warm breeze and suddenly Treebeard is at eye level behind you") and then carry him back to the caravan.
Roll into town, first thing on Bloodbeard and Alucard's mind is booze, ass, and food so we hit the bar after selling our shit and dropping off my tree to get reinforced (main weapon is literally a tree I ripped from the ground). Bloodbeard orders an entire keg and feast to himself, I buy an entire cow, and the elf buys 5 glasses of beer and a feast which I eat half of. Tried to buy beer for the goblin in our chest but it turns out he suffocated inside there.
Bloodbeard gets aggressive after seeing two dwarves fight so I slap his shit to keep him from causing a mass murder, then he hits on the waitress in what was the most painful reflection of his IRL wheeling skills on the DM. Elf hits on the barmaid, walks up to her, she asks "can I get you anything", he fails a diplomacy check and asks "that ass", says fuck it gets a room and goes to bed. I fall asleep in a barn, Bloodbeard stumbles up the stairs, knocking over 3 tables, his keg, and slumps on the bed, shattering it.
I'm not a super strong writing so its hard to write this out but everything was fucking hilarious, the next day bloodbeard pulls a prank and we had returned to the camp so if anyone wants I can elaborate on that.
I'm rolling a Neutral Good/Neutral (I haven't decided yet) Necromancer (much to one players dismay because he thinks it's impossible to be a good Necromancer no matter what). I'm planning to go Cleric in the Death Domain or Wizard in Necromancy skills (thoughts?) and my general backstory for the character is that he lost someone he cared dearly for so he got into got into necromancy to bring them back. Any suggestions on what to work on?

If you're good aligned you can't cast spells with the evil descriptor, so good luck with that.

That's only with divine spells, luckily.

Fucking wizards.

More like shitty Clerics. Actually, thinking about it, I remember it being built right into the Cleric class; Just play a not-Cleric.
