That is almost worse
I know, and I hate it. But a couple of the players, including the highest player, don't care about anything else other than "killing everything". They are literally ok with just "xp grinding" in pathfinder, if given the chance.
What a bizarre way of playing D&D.
That is almost worse
Naw, that's would only be true if they all were forced to play as Clue characters within the PF system.
It's not always worse, once at a one-off i selected a premade by the DM Moon Elf fighter by the name of Gildorian, and another one of the players chose a Moon Elf Wizard named Ildorian (creative naming by the DM alright). We immediately determined they were brothers and were constantly having quarrels about how our parents liked Ildorian better, or how i wanted my inheritance to go to the family goat instead of him.

Posted about this a while back, but I was in an Age of Rebellion game I was almost in where the GM forced the players to use premades, despite all of them wanting to create their own characters.
If you think forced prefabs are ever a good idea, stop playing RPGs, you don't get them.

Having players in a group with characters between levels 1 and 14 is pretty bad as well.

How dare people have any opinions against my munchkin powerplay!

imagine for a moment that maybe players like to build characters?
like maybe not all players are 'munchkin powerplayers'?
perhaps those people only break the game because you let them, instead of just looking at their character sheet and saying no to things?
Not trying to start shit but honestly if I heard a campaign would force me into a specific character I would probably just say no.
If you think forced prefabs are ever a good idea, stop playing RPGs, you don't get them.
Prefabs are good under some situations.
If you're doing a pickup game, prefabs are pretty much essential. I would force players to use prefabs in this situation.
If you're working on a new system, using prefabs lets you test gameplay before you finish character creation. You need to test chargen eventually but it shouldn't be the first thing you make.
And of course, when introducing a new player, making a character for them lets them get to the core experience without the complications of making a character.
IMO pretty much the only time when pre-mades are appropriate is when you're running a quick "hey guys let's play a RPG" one-shot game
and even then, a better idea is to just roll with something like Apocalypse World or Feng Shui, where you get an already ready archetype sheet and all you gotta do is make some choices (which actually matter, too) and you're good to go
if you wanna run a one-shot game, a crunchy system is the worst thing you could choose anyway, unless you're running with the sole goal of checking out how it works in practice

They have their place, for example someone who wanted to play a game with me and just do the RP bits without having to worry about the crunchy process that is character creation gave me a character concept and I worked with it.
Every time I see Feng Shui mentioned, I remember that Feng Shui 2 exists and that I have yet to try it.

Alright, so it's not everyone's cup of tea? The suggestion was for the specific problem the person had, and it was all a Clue joke all along, if I didn't forget to mention the mansion.

ah yes, who could forget the reeking elitism inherent in the tabletop community, because nothing says 'im better at pretending to be a monkey man' than implying that your own custom built fairy men are somehow above the filthy pleb characters given to players by their gms
Why are you guys always so hostile, people like different things, chill out.
I hate playing with prefabs, personally. Half the fun of RPG'S is getting to personalize my own character, and explore all the different ways I can build him to find the ways that are most fun to me.
I think my ideas guy and I have settled on a Scooby-Doo styled mystery to run for Halloween.

Have the identity of the villain be Old Man Kasem.
I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids, and your stupid gnome too!

Bruh, chill, I was just saying that if you force your entire group to use prefabs when they're totally willing to create their own characters, you're doing something wrong.
How the fuck is that elitism? I like playing characters that I create, I feel more attached to them.
hey guys
instead of this, lets talk about wizards
i'll start out
wizards are cool, they went to school
fighters drool, they're easy to fool
Paladins are better. Gnome paladins are best.

Halfling paladins are better though

No I corrected it.
Guys guys guys, we all know that Kobold paladins are the best of them all.
Kobolds in general are the best, I should know
I'm unbiased I promise
I like playing a little kobold with asperations of becoming a dragon. Hell there's an epic destiny in 4e where that actually can happen.
It was so fun having my Kobold cleric discover that Bahamut had chosen him to ascend to dragonhood. No kobold has ever felt that much joy.

I have a Kobold Barbarian in my pathfinder group. She likes to smash things with her great axe.

this highly depends on what kind of kobold
I think kobolds might be the creatures that have changed the most across the editions.
Well I see Kobolds like there are two types.
Civilized ones that live in the cites and feral assholes who set traps in caves
