Paint Tool SAI plus tablet.
Used lot of line-tool though, although sketching I did by hand.
Would you mind sharing some of that? It looks seriously slick.
I decided to stick some more content with my Cavalry Archetype and made Steel and Steed v0.5.
sai is pretty neat, I use manga studio personally but it has a lot of the same tools (as do most drawing softwares)
some map stuff I did in ms

day after ragnarok update: from planning a casino heist we went to burning down a man's gun store for a Browning M2
then we got stopped by cops, punched 'em out, got into a chase with the backup, and right now our resident party psycho is, well

Sketches? I don't have lot of those, just some initial plan on shape, room-placement, traps and puzzles.
I am almost done with the maps, though.

I am probably overdoing it, but it wasn't that huge effort...
In my current D&D campaign, my character is a psychotic serial killer who has a skull he names Roger that he communicates with. Well, last week, my DM made Roger able to talk. Now I have two characters to RP with, but I'm having trouble coming up with a good personality for Roger.
Any ideas?

Well, what would he have been like when he was alive? Failing that just say he was a bard when he was alive and make shitty skeleton puns all the time.

Was the skull a wizard?

Never trust sku- I mean wizards.
thinking of running a one-shot for some friends
how easy is it to pick up DnD5 for someone with experience in PF and other systems?
5e is super easy to get into, you just need the PHB.
thinking of running a one-shot for some friends

Rather easy. It is different, but lot of the thing are the same. Bullet-points:
• Magic items are rare, so you usually don't come across magic shops or whatnot. Less WBL.
• Rather than having BaB, characters have proficiency, which is used for many things ( such as BaB, proficient saving throws, expertise on skills etc. )
• Advantage/Disadvantage system is new. There are some conditions where it applies, but usually you can deduce those with "would this give me advantage", like ex. flanking.
• Save Or Dies are almost non-existent.
• Spells don't really scale unless you use higher level slots.
• There is short rest ( 1h ) and long rest ( 8h ). Spells are restored with long, some abilities with short.
• Hoard of the Dragon Queen is shit module, don't try it for your first one.
Also Bounded Accuracy is a thing. In Pathfinder AC and To-Hit basically scales directly with level, while in 5e it hardly scales at all.
Oh yeah. That's a big one.
And I forgot another major thing:
Feats are optional, and you use ability score advancement to gain them. They are more powerful, but you have to remember you won't get the ability score advancement if take one ( feat might provide one, though ).
I've got the PHB, is the monster manual worth buying?
I've got the PHB, is the monster manual worth buying?
Are you running a game? Then absolutely, 100% get the monster manual.
Dungeon Master's Guide isn't quite as necessary, but the Monster Manual is.

If you're gonna DM, the MM is totally worth the money. It's chock-full of not just stat blocks but also lore and effects for a creature's area/lair in some cases.
For instance, I opened a random page and ended up at the Gith. A paragraph of basic info and then something like half to 3/4 of a page for both subraces, followed by stat blocks and art for both subraces. Same goes for another random part, oozes. Spans 4 pages and this is what's in them.

There's basic ruleset on WotC's site, which contains quite bit of monsters. Plus there is Tiamat supplement which contains more monsters, like ex. vampires.
If you're going to be getting wizards' adventures, they always include the stats for the monsters and magical items you need for that adventure.

Not really, save for the Starter adventure. They will include any NEW monsters or creatures, but, for instance, Princes of the Apocalypse doesn't give you the stats for things already in the Monster Manual, nor does it stat out magic items or things like that that are in other sources.

The online supplement should have anything not included in the adventure.

supplement doesnt have any stats for items already in phb, ditto for monsters in the MM, but anything else that's new is included in the list

It totally does - everything in the supplement is in the DMG (for items) or MM (for monsters).
So, me and two friends have been wanting to get into online PnP games, so does anyone have any games or groups going on fridays or saturdays that we could join in with? We're all pretty new though, and none of us can use microphones, so we'd be text only on our sides. It'd be nice if we could talk beforehand on actual times and everything.
You might find that trying to get you and two friends in a game all at once quite challenging, since most people here have long running games going, and most vacancies are only for maybe one or two players at most. Perhaps a better option would be getting one more friend (or a friend of a friend) and trying to run your own game? That way you all know each others' schedule, and it'd be sort of a calmer atmosphere if it's going to be everyone's first time.

You're best off having you or one of your friends gm for you.
Alright, thanks. We'll try that.
Damnit guys you made me order the Monster Manual for my game now even though I have the PDFs on my laptop.
This was me when I was telling my friend I was going to buy it.
1:25 onwards. I'm Hook and my friend is Smee. With the alternate ending of my friend not stopping me to which I'm glad.

I have a friend which ordered the PHB, DMG, and MM of 3.5e and 5e and I've got to say that having a go at them in their physical format feels way better than using a PDF [sp]despite the fact that you have to give an arm and a leg for one and they're all imported[/sp]
I found this monster sheet the other day, I'm sharing it in case its of any use to anyone: http://shirogames.com/file/exogarth.pdf
