Barbarians already get that since they get their con as AC when not wearing armour, if you've got 18+ con it's better to be naked for the first couple of levels until you get good armour :v:

I've definitely seen worse though. Hell Shadowrun lets you do the same thing for about 40k¥ and half a point or so of essence.
Anybody got some tips for dealing with a player who just can't seem to learn. He's been playing for a few months now, and he still can't seem to act on his own accord properly. He's even been outpaced by a guy who has only been playing for a month or two, [I]VERY[/I] outpaced. The DM and party wanna kill him off in any way they can, but i wanna know if there is any way to help him out. If not, he's gonna be dead by the end of our current dungeon.

He honestly probably just doesn't give a fuck, and is just there to socialize. He can either pick up the slack and start to learn or he can die and not make a replacement character.

What's he having issues with, the game rules or the whole roleplaying a character thing? Or just generally not really paying attention

the roleplaying part he seems to have, its the real-playing he has trouble with. Even after writing him a card for "this goes with this" he still has a troubled time with it. Actually, now that I am saying it to myself, I don't think there is gonna be any hope. Next game I'm gonna lay everything down to him, how he is not doing so well and all of that, and we'll see if he makes any improvement. If not, my paladin is gonna have to turn a blind eye when the druid uses thunderwave when he is by a cliff.

That, and a lot of creatures that used to be invincible without magic or silver are now killable with just a steel weapon if you hit enough times, so that aspect of having to actually worry about running sometimes is long gone.

I'm sure they'll reintroduce Dark Power checks again. Though they'll need to rule on whether silvering is allowed still.
Storytime for my out of the abyss campaign. Spoilered because OoTA.
[sp]Players managed to escape the drow camp successfully, with only one of their NPC characters being killed - and they manage to make it out with 30 days worth of rations for the party and all of their equipment. So far, so amazing. The very first obstacle they run into is a lava stream which requires a DC11/10 (can't remember which) dex check to cross. The two children that are the following NPC characters fail to the dex check with a natural 1 and a natural 2, and proceed to burn alive in the lava stream in front of the players (6d6 wtf OoTA writers). Players now shaken, and have yet to realise that buppido, who was in the party upon their escape, has now disappeared to enact horrible murder upon one of the players next time they rest - fun shit.
also they attempted to fight the drow elves who are in pursuit, but reconsidered when head elf lady dropped the level 5 plague on them, nearly killing two party members and an NPC

I'm surprised lava only does that much. In 3.5 I know it was 20d6/round, and in 4e if you weren't immune to fire you flat-out died, no saves allowed

Honestly they seem better as a rare NPC race/monster manual/enemy kind of deal. Nosy catgirls with dicks would probably run into worse problems than gnomes.

turns out, a large swarm of kuo-toa are deadly when you play them with tucker's kobolds level of strategy
