to me races being fuckable is fine i mean i find humans sexy and elves too [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] tbh catgirls are fine in dnd imo i mean it's not much different than how mermaids came to be, created by lonely sailors, yet we're fine with that it can be explained by some god giving random features to humans creating some kind of subhuman or something, i mean it's entirely possible because owlbears are a thing
The difference is Mermaids were created by lonely, rugged sailors, waiting for their wives, unsatisfied for months at a time as they sailed open seas. In this time, they would get so frustrated that they would start seeing things. They would look at the tails of manatees, with their cross between mammal and fish anatomy, and invent tales to bide their time. Whereas catgirls were made when some guy in japan looked at a cat and thought "but what if i could fuck..."
So basically, "What if I could fuck a manatee?"
I mean basically but I dont get to shit on anime if you say it like that.
I understand that tabletop gaming goes hand in hand with being awkward about sexuality, but cmon guys catgirls are tame even for dnd standards
So one of my friend wants to learn DnD. Having played 3.5-5e as well as Pathfinder, I am debating between 5e and Pathfinder at the moment. I personally started on Pathfinder and found it pretty simple to pick up once you learned how to maintain your characters, and 5e was even easier to pick up with that base knowledge. I have no idea what going cold turkey into 5e is like, however, so any stories or experiences there would be nice to know.
No personal anecdotes, but I've heard it's hella accessible to noobies.

Start him on 5e.
if you start him on pathfinder though he'll either give up or become accustom to reading through tons of rules and stuff that future games will be easier to learn
Tru, though honestly I think that dnd and pathfinder are so... Eh anyway. Start with something badass like traveller or cyberpunk, let your buddy emerge as a hard core tabletop player
i think that pathfinder is really good to set yourself on the path of pen and paper RPGs, because it's complex enough to help with learning basically every other system, but simple enough to be appreciated by a new person also because you'll get to truly experience how much of an improvement 5e, if you've dealt with one of the 3.5alikes beforehand.
any homebrew races should be 100% unfuckable imo
Just try it, people want to bone xenomorphs, I dare you to invent a humanoid race that doesn't tie into a fetish.
So because our DM is a total amateur (doesn't even use a battle grid ffs) I've decided to try to learn how to DM, which means I have to review the base game rules. Three days in, and have only just gotten to taking notes on the base classes in Player's Handbook. Granted, I'm learning this stuff around college and other hobbies and things, but still...
Battle grids aren't necessary and they're a pain in the ass to set up and use, I'd be less harsh on the guy especially if he's a new GM. Though if they're not gonna use battlegrids they'd probably be better off playing something that isn't D&D.
Also I'm finding it amusing that there's an uproar in this thread about catgirls when two people in my SR group separately decided to be different kinds of catpeople :v:

Depending on the kind of game he is playing it might be more descriptive based combat as opposed to using grids but it all depends. Anyways, does anyone use/know any good blogging sites? My friends keep suggesting that I create one for the D&D stuff I do for some (I DM the campaign in which I created the whole world, lore and what not. This is my first time DMing as well) and they said I put too much effort into it not to create one. I like the idea but was wondering if there were any sites that would be better than others I guess? Just need one that works well for both text and images.

The problem is that the catgirls that he made are just poorly disguised fetishfuel. For a cat person to exist and be interesting (as well as any other animal race) it need to take traits from its animal counterpart as well as bringing new things to the party that would naturally arise from other circumstances. For instance, Khajiit are a good cat race as their race draws not only from the positive aspects of cats (being nimble, able to see in the dark, and lovers of all things warm) but also the negatives as well (they like to steal things, tend to wander into trouble, and are drug addicts to moonsugar like most cats are addicts to catnip). Additionally, nirn has imbued them with connections to the moons and given them a weird ass reproductive cycle that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WAY THEY HAVE SEX. If one wants to play a cat person I implore them to take up a mix of positive and negative traits, and not just the ones that make their boner happy. You could make a sociable trading character that plays off of some people's affinity for cats and, since they don't do much fighting, is actually rather fat (as indoor cats tend to get). You could make a hunter that's dangerously good at their job but is literally addicted to killing things. Not evil mind you, but like domestic cats he or she needs to kill something every day or so or they start getting the shakes. Doesn't matter what it is, mice, birds, deer, people, it's all the same. You could make a thief who steals valuables but also random things for collections. Socks, fishing lures, anything soft or with feathers really. Why? Because it makes them feel good. There's a whole myriad of things that can be done and where they're from should also play into it. Are they from the warm sands of the desert? Give them wide feet that act as sand shoes. Are they arboreal? A catfolk always lands of their feet. Hell, do the live around water? Give them either a slick oily coat (for buoyancy) or negatives whenever they're wet.

I had animal people (catgirls, bunnygirls, doggirls, anglerfishgirls, etc.) placed in my setting due to a curse that a dying nature god placed upon the human race after he was struck down by the human's god of civilization and agriculture. So I've a perfectly narrative driven way to force my players into my magical realm.
I live in London and I want to try D&D, how do I go about doing this? I looked at Play by Post online but my friend told me that it can be useless when people don't bother. [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] I think I'd prefer playing online if I was sure it was going to work, because Im not nearly hairy or sweaty enough to go to Games Workshop regularly

I looked at Play by Post online but my friend told me that it can be useless when people don't bother.
This is how I start playing some D&D when my inner circle group stopped playing: http://www.meetup.com/London-DnD/ The people there are pretty rad, we book out (Or attempt to) an area of a pub to play in and there are usually around 3-5 games going on whether it is D&D or Star Wars. I think there are a few meet ups a few times a week including the weekends. Just go on the message board and see what games are running and if there is space.
First I put my shameful fetishes to paper, then I make custom races and characters that embody those shameful fetishes, and only then do I half-assedly attempt to justify the inclusion of those fetishistic characters using shallow plot devices. [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] If any of my players get irritated at me for including yet another masturbatory fantasy into my narrative, I let out a powerful shriek inches from their face for kinkshaming me and threaten to kill their character.

Just a brief taste of the erotic scenarios what for my players have in store to be enjoying.
What you don't know, as you climb into the hot springs with your new friend, is that Ping isn't a boy at all! He's a girl! And when your towel falls to the floor, she looks straight at your penis. Normally a girl looking directly at your penis would cause you to start crying, but because you think that she is actually a boy you are completely unfazed. You are no stranger to boys looking at your penis. Ping covers her face and looks away, embarrassed about looking at your penis. You notice and place your hands on your hips, waggling your penis like a small pendulum. "What's the matter, Ping, old boy? Nothing we both don't have, am I right? After all, we are both boys, and boys have penises." Ping clears her throat and says, "yes, I a boy. Just a boy with penis as you." You let out a comfortable laugh, reassured that Ping is, indeed, a boy (even though she is actually a girl!). and jump into the spring. "Turn around," you say, "I am going to clean your back, as us boys are wont to do during bathtime." Ping turns around, and you start rapidly slapping the back of her head with your penis. Again, if you only knew that Ping were a girl, this would cause you to become filled with such shame and embarrassment that you would leave the hot spring, walk back to your tent, and sob until exhaustion overtook you, but as far as you know, Ping is not a hot and sexy girl, but just a boy, and so you are completely comfortable with using your penis in this manner. "My head!" Ping exclaims. "You striking it with a penis!" "BOYS WILL BE BOYS!"
wouldn't the best way to get catgirls just use Catfolk but change them from furry to catgirls/boys? [editline]20th January 2016[/editline]
Just a brief taste of the erotic scenarios what for my players have in store to be enjoying.
:what:
Well, I don't have any stories about cat people so I'm wondering if this will be seen as irrelevant considering the last few pages, but I will share this story anyway. So, essentially, my group and I had just finished off the big bad of a classic "Evil Wizard Tower" ascend campaign. Now, the DM had this idea that when the big bad went boom, the tower would collapse and the party would be killed, but hey, we would get to go to Valhalla#234 and be remembered in song for all eternity for saving the world... you know, so that he could end the campaign on a "high note". So, ofcourse, when the DM announces the collapsing tower event, he gives us a chance to "make it to the ground" to be "fair"; four consecutive reflex saves followed by four acrobatics check (meaning me and the barbarian where basicly out for the count at that point). Oh, and the DC is something insane, I don't remember the number exactly, so even our rogue has the death sweats. So we make the rolls; barbarian, bard, and the wizard are crushed by falling tower sections after just 1-2 of the rolls and the rogue is rolls a 1 on his fifth roll, making him fall to his death. After that, they all look at me, since I haven't rolled any of my checks yet; I've been to busy praying to the RNG gods, considering I would need natural 20 on all my rolls to make it down what with my negative score in acrobatics and my heavy ass gear. My fighter, Muggi von Muggisen the eleventh wasn't about to have any of that shit though. Dying falling off some dumbass wizards tower? Not how my story is gonna end you dingus. I roll natural 20 on all of my rolls; never seen anything like it, and the group was also looking is disbelief as I kept rolling them naturals. It was so fucking insane the GM gave me his d20 after the third roll, just in case I was cheating or something, but no, the RNG gods really fucking heard my prayers that day. After the last roll the group is essentially cheering me on, and we all look at the GM, who goes from having a look of complete disbelief to having the biggest grin on his face; even he could not deny the awesomeness that was Muggi von Muggisens acrobatic skills. So, with delight, the GM is describing how my big ass fighter, with his big ass great swords (yes, multiple, was a quirk of that particular character), and big ass armor manages to jump nimbely from falling segment of tower, to falling segment of tower and finally how I made a last leap of faith and made it into a lake near the tower. He then proceded to tell us how I managed to get back to civilization, got overthrown with gold and wenches, and had a big gold statue build in my honor. I have never since had anywhere near close to this level of luck again, but man, that one time sure was one of the most epic retirement adventures I had for one of my characters.

I haven't played DnD for a while now, i think we're resuming our session today. When we last left off a Bugbear swung his morning-star at that guys face, he is currently on 1HP. This was caused by a mixture of his stupidity and our druids stupidity. The two level headed members of the party, our mage and Inigo Montoya the Rogue (Me) and standing by the door, wondering whether to help or not. I'm also currently GMing Edge of the Empire/Force and Destiny (Star Wars).
