I gotta start gathering some feedback for my current project so I actually have something to discuss with my supervisor, so if you have a half-hour or so to go through it and answer some questions for me that'd be stellar

Note it's WIP and will be a while yet, but I'll be updating the PDF and the questionnaire every time I move into the next chapter. The more feedback the better, as I can write about it in my evaluative report. I'm more concerned about crunch feedback but if you have crits about fluff stuff don't hesitate.
Feel free to try and run a session with what's done so far if you like too, if anyone does I'd be very eager to hear about how it went
Game is called No Horizon, and is a sci-fi ship crew kinda dealio, going for a very exploration kinda feel - out in the universe with just your buds to depend on, think mass effect, cowboy bebop, firefly, etc
it's also 37k words and counting so get a brew or something
found the fucking kobold boys
I usually play like, skeleton champions or sentient trees and shit. Admittedly I'd much rather play a kobold than a base race :v:
if anyone needs a stable GM, i will happily DM your dungeons and dargons games for you
attributes
1) i am british
2) i have a studio quality mic

4) i will only gm your campaign if you agree to put on goblin voices
5) i will only gm your campaign if you agree that the campaign is entirely focused on running a goblin hotel
if you are interested for more details inbox me your goblin name and rating from 1-10 on how much of a goblin trapped in a human's body you feel
This goblin hotel idea intrigues me.
Is the owner of the hotel basil fawlty or is otherwise modeled on him? This is important
I don't know if this is real drama or pretend drama, but it's pretty annoying either way. So, cut it out.
Are you kidding? this is great! The main reason I watch this thread is to see the soap opera levels of drama that come out of it!
But it's not even real drama, Hats and Aperture already sorted it out in the thread!
That means we need some REAL drama.
[sp]Dice systems are inherently flawed and therefore only pure roleplay should be used for any game ;^)[/sp]

and roll20 is also rigged further proving that dice are bad.

nobody is the owner in this goblin hotel
benevolent dictatorship decided by weekly tombola

Even the Dice Gods favor certain heathens over others. There's no point rolling dice if the result is random!

I read/heard about a group doing this. I think it was somebody from the public play sessions my girlfriend and I used to go to? Might also have been one of you. He said one of the groups he was invited to play with refused to roll for anything, and rather than viewing D&D as a roleplaying game, they called it a "cooperative storytelling experience."
That just stuck with me because of how fucking awkward it is. I will never forget that.
Dice are a great representation of chance and luck in life. You might give it all you've got, but still fuck up. Dice are your friend and your enemy. They are also, neither.

The dice seem to hate my players. My last encounter had the enemies constantly rolling above 12.

that sounds like a dwarf fortress succession fortress. That gives me some ideas....
I dunno if I'd even play if you didn't roll dice for shit. If you just had your players decide everything things would always go their way. Not to mention combat would be completely pointless.
I feel like the joke flew over my head or something.

Basically all a diceless system entails is learning who in your group is best at fast-talking the GM, then letting them explain every plan
why even play DnD if you're not going to roll
they are plenty of storytelling/diceless games that already do that and do it well
or you could just not play a game and instead just play pretend
Yeah, freeform RP isn't bad in and of itself, it just has its own niche and attracts a wide variety of terrible people.
People too shitty to make useful characters

Btw @ my group: holding you guys to the summer meetup idea!!!

People are inherently flawed and shouldn't be left in charge.

Best game is one where everything is randomly rolled. NPCs, Items, their respective stats, motivations, creatures,..

without rolls, dnd becomes "my imaginary friend can beat up your imaginary friend" the board game
[editline]27th January 2016[/editline]
storytelling is unnecessary
all story should be conveyed through dice rolls
A guy on my maybe list for my SR game who hadn't talked to me for like a week just sent me a character sheet for a charisma focused mage who's a pacifist, despite me telling them they're being hired for an assassination a nd that we already have a mage :v:
Shittily built too, they have death touch despite being a pacifist, and no ranks in counterspelling.

i really don't understand anyone who makes a pacifist character in SR or DnD
sure, games like CoC might have a place because you can be a shitty librarian, but DnD?

Makes even less sense when the premise for this game is that the team are wannabe shadowrunners who get offered a a job explicitly about killing several people, if you don't like violence you're just never going to accept that job offer.
maybe they read the advert wrong

I love my "pacifist" characters, characters designed to not directly hurt enemies, but utterly fuck them over to the point where I might as well have. If they trip and fall off a cliff, or into another persons sword it's not really my fault~ :v:
there's a difference between abhorring violence and just not wanting to get your hands dirty tho
there's a difference between abhorring violence and just not wanting to get your hands dirty tho
Yeah, the SR quality is being opposed to violence all together, you can only get violent in defence, if your team wants to start a fight you should be trying to stop them or talk them out if it, and less than lethal stuff like stun gas and tasers is still violent.
[editline]27th January 2016[/editline]
If you want the Batman violence but no killing thing, that'd be a code of honour in SR, if you just don't like doing it yourself maybe you should buy some drones :v:
Going to try and improve my campaign for the players by creating cheap minis using paper print outs and bulldog clips. At the moment all I use are icons and letters on the grid map to represent monsters and NPCs (Such as Z for Zombies or A for Assassins).

I think it will be rad as it will save me constantly wiping and redrawing positions of the PCs and Monsters.

At the second level of pacifist, you can't even get violent in self-defense. No violence ever.
