I think the only game I've been in where a player killed another intentionally was in Cro's SR game, someone shot someone else for messing up the plan we had and then trying to blackmail the guy we were working for, despite us being almost stranded on a cargo ship and them claiming to have a submarine. I did accidentally kill another player in one of the Fallout games on here though, I crit failed with a grenade launcher and shot a Batman impersonator in the back, forget who was playing them :v: And in one of the PF games I ran, the cleric fell off a roof, I've had three clerics/paladins I've played drown because platemail is heavy, and a rogue I played was the sole survivor of a TPK because I ran away after things started going bad after telling the rest of the party not to start that fight.
Some part of me is still a little upset about that. TBF Hurricane did sorta fuck up the plan entirely, but from what I remember, dude shot and killed me with no warning. (I could be totally wrong) But he wasn't like "Stop doing this or I'll kill you" he was like "Oh, you're doing this? Blam" And then we retconned it to before that happened, but by that point I was so pissed at the other player I just decided to leave the game. Though, I get why he did it, because Hurricane totally deserved it, but a player killing another player is just asking to start drama.
Go back and read the core books on dealing with bonuses in 5e and compare it between 3.5e and ADND. 5e is trying to go back to a time before everyone had to have +8's or they'd be frozen out of the party. Including random rolls on chargen as the recommended way instead of min/max point buy.
I'm starting to question how much you actually remember about AD&D, because most of this is just wrong. First of all, 3rd edition also had randomly rolling as the recommended way to determine your ability scores. In fact, unlike 5e, this isn't just the default method, it's the only method detailed in the Player's Handbook.
Class progression is more akin to ADND's kits then PRC's.
Class progression in 5e is more akin to a crossbreed between Pathfinder and 4e than anything, with it's heavy emphasis on linearly gaining special abilities when you level, along with having a sub-class chosen at a specific level. And despite how hilariously oversaturated the amount of Prestige Classes eventually became, they were always a pretty minor aspect of 3rd edition.
Unless you're playing bard you probably have considerably less skills than you did in 3.5e.
Yes, and? Do you not remember how it was in AD&D? With non-weapon proficiencies and thieving skills, both using completely different, segregated systems? As a bard in AD&D you'll have more skills in total than in either 3e or 5e.
To Hit tables are more similar to the ADND scaling than 3.5e
This is just blatantly false. Actually, the to hit progression in AD&D and 3.5 are basically identical, just in reverse. As a warrior class, in AD&D you reduce your THAC0 by 1 every level, while in 3.5 you increase your attack bonus by 1 every level.
Tonally it's gone back towards the original derivative fantasy as well. Encouraging DMs to make house calls more often rather than maintaining ruling balance.
This is pretty much entirely subjective, so all I can really say is that I disagree. That, and point you back to my previous post, where I outline how they've completely changed their approach to magic, class abilities and races, which has created a massive tonal shift. On that subject, I like how you completely ignored everything I brought up in that post, by the way. Really nice :ok:

[editline]28th January 2016[/editline] I disagree on players killing each other always being bad though, it can be a really dramatic event, I was really enjoying the tension in that session until it blew up and became OOC drama.
i love reading about drama that doesn't involve me
I miss that game, Mech was rad Really need to re do her someday
wow come to my goblin hotel and say that to my face fucker and see what happens
i do a great goblin voice. i will play your adventure if you want to do it someday.
I'm surprised no one has seriously injured another party member in our shadowrun group yet, but I suppose that might be to do with no one having any doubts that the cyborg could punch all of our heads off if we fuck with him.
snip.
i love reading about drama that doesn't involve me
Eh, it was drama at the time but I don't think there's any real hard feelings any more. It was mostly a case of personality clash and lack of teamwork, Funk's dude wanted his picture to be there if you looked up 'badass' in the dictionary, half of the rest of the team were pretty professional or needed to keep a low profile.
I miss that game, Mech was rad Really need to re do her someday
Mech was a cool character but mechanically they were complete ass, but I think that was your first time playing SR anyway.

Despite the drama and wonky slowdown I was fairly satisfied with how you guys were handling situations in that game, even when I had some GM-related rookie flukes and the magic-assisted easy win first session. I'd give something similar a better spin in the future. Maybe the servers will be on the second floor next time.
maybe leave the freighters at the docks we seem to have bad experiences with cargo ships

I could not have fucked up that situation more if I tried. It was really all my fault. I was trying to play a character which was trying to gain as much notoriety as possible, and ended up working against the team to do that. That said, up until that session, I was actually having a blast with that game. [editline]28th January 2016[/editline] Plus, Hurricane was so much fun to play, being able to run at lighting speeds and suplex people was incredible.
Look at Mission Impossible, the objective is always halfway up a skyscraper and nowhere near a helipad.
Don't look at Star Wars. The objective was so easy to reach they didn't even have to enter the evil place, they just nuked it from orbit.
Is anyone looking for player, or are there any ongoing games that could use an extra player or two? I can't be the only one who's jonesing to play an RPG.

Sure, you guys decided to appease the Johnson, but I had a situation panned out for each possible course you could take which would ultimately end up with you guys appearing where you'd be. Of course, other players decided to take the easiest choice, but I wouldn't have TPK'd you for not listening. Just cut you short of the sweet moolah and a safe entrance to Morocco.

I've already called dibs on being the Concierge: Zubgrub, the Fancy Goblin. He wears a pince-nez and speaks in sardonic goblin aphorisms.
once we figure out every goblin i can paint their character portraits.
don't forget Glub-Glub, the goblin hotel reject who occasionally shows up and tries to join the hotel staff under a new disguise
once we figure out every goblin i can paint their character portraits.
Did a quick doodle in preparation. This is how I imagine him to roughly look. He won the medal in the war for killing over forty people through food poisoning.
Were the 40 people he killed on the side of the enemy, or was it just... 40 people?
He'd sneak into the enemy camp and cook for them. He didn't actually poison the food though, he's just a terrible chef.
