I just used both of the grenade launchers, the stun one is particularly effective.
Just make sure you don't fire it too close to yourself, it's an instant game over and the explosion's area of effect is a lot bigger than it looks
[editline]28th December 2016[/editline]
It is pretty hard though, you have like no cover where you start
Turns out NPCs will laugh at other NPCs who don't have pants on.
There was a shoot out next to a strip club and some of the strippers ran out and the other NPCs were laughing at them like they do to you.
The NPC's are very smart in this game. A lot better (and funnier) than any other open world game I've played.
For example, if you jump on someone's car, they won't just stay in their car and honk their horn at you. They'll actually get out and A: throw a few insults your way or B: start a fist fight for you.
I was playing last night and was scanning people and one of them was a "Gun Club" member. I decide to shoot a bird with my stun gun and everyone in the area jumped out of their seats, but the gun club guy literally pulls his gun out and aims at me, assesses if I'm being a threat, and decides that, when I'm not actually doing anything, he puts his gun away and walks away.
The AI needs more attention than it's getting. As good as GTAV is, it really has nothing on some of the tech this game brings to the table for the open world sandbox genre.
so i was playing watch dogs 2 and i attempted to initiate an online mission, but stopped it shortly afterwards, which resulted in my pc blue screening. can you guess what bluescreen error i got?
DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION
it seems the game didn't want me to do that

I spam called gang members to come in and clause a clusterfuck, then sneaked in while everybody was distracted. Fuck that mission.
Does this game have a gamemode where you can play a Giant Spider Mech again? I liked that in the first.
Anyone else having audio issues? Like sounds being really quiet.
I'm enjoying this game. Countless numbers have died in gang fights I've caused while hiding in a scissor lift in the middle of it
The only thing that frustrates me about NPCs is how easily they are startled by vehicles. And sometimes they just ends up jumping in front of you instead of dodging the other way.
Got this in the sale and I've been having an absolute blast. The only thing that is really, really starting to irritate me though is the fact that they didn't implement the ability to arrested. It makes the game feel really weird when you can see NPCs arrested but you are going to constantly be shot to death for the slightest bit of trespassing or attempted escape.
I get it's a holdover from the fact they didn't seem to really expect the stealth aspect to take off as much as it has though, and the amount of amazing things you can do with the hacking tools and just how warm and endearing the cast and rendition of San Francisco is too great to pass up.
Edit: Wait, it was in the first game? Now it's really weird it didn't make it here (or maybe it has and I'm dumb)
[sp] And yeah, I get they might have Marcus's ctOS profile as a "shoot on sight" or "lethal force authorized" type but that feels like a cop out.[/sp]

That's been a problem in open world games for years. I can't count how many times a pedestrian has jumped in front of my car because I was a little too close to the sidewalk (while still totally being on the road) while I was driving in like, GTASA.
One day, we'll perfect predictive AI, but that day is not today
[editline]a[/editline]
Actually, if I'm remembering right, L.A. Noire had some really good ped dodging mechanics since there was no reason an officer of the law as strict as Cole Phelps would be actively running people over.
It was possible, but very lenient

If you only have one 'star' you can fake surrender if you stand still. I'm not sure what happens after that if you don't melee the cop though.
You get "arrested".
Basically, if you stand still and the cop gets close enough, for long enough, you get thrown into a loading screen, and sent back to your last checkpoint/respawned.
No animation or anything, just an instant game over.

My strat on that part of the mission [sp]There is a sorta basement to the left of the compound, past the other gate that is also to the left is a gas canister and a door to that basement. Take it and try to camp yourself down there; While also trying to lure them down there too.[/sp] Atleast that's how I did the [sp]Wrench[/sp] section.
[sp] Q : Why this basement? [/sp]
[sp] A : This basement has access to a room that has immovable table cover and a door to which it's great to booby trap with some bombs [/sp]

This is a big issue with the game because this is in fact an incredibly important part of stealth runs but the game never explains it and the UI elements are subtle enough that it's very easy to miss
Whenever you get spotted you will see an orange exclamation mark over the enemies and that means if you stop moving immediately they will walk up to you and arrest you (not just cops by the way, every enemy in the game, even gangs).
You have a few options now:
-Run off, most likely alerting everyone. If you can manage to clear a corner they will lose you and not sound the alarm, but you can't move too much before they start shooting you so it's risky. Never sprint though.
-If you try to aim at someone who has you at gunpoint they will instantly sound the alarm before you can take them out, always.
-Either take them out by hacking traps/cars or hack their phone and shoot them with the stun gun while they're distracted.
Another example is if you hack the car of a patrol they will go after it and ignore you.
-If I recall correctly they don't react to throwing gadgets, so you can just set up traps and have them walk into them.
-Mass hacks are basically a free get out of jail card for situations like these.
WD1 did have something similar but the requirements for it to happen were so unlikely that most people just assumed it was just another thing from the trailers that was complete bullshit
The orange ! is basically the ? from metal gear solid yo
I'll have to try that out, thanks! I knew the game had a robust enough AI system that it seemed really unlikely that they decided to omit something so simple. I just wonder why they chose to forget/ignore things they learned from other projects like having your last known position recorded from the splinter cell games and the like. Oh well.
Still though, the game is a triumph and I see why Ubisoft is happy with it even though it didn't smash those first week sales. The team gambled on perhaps an even more ambitious idea with the sequel and won, all the while managing to completely overcome the incredibly sour and violent reaction it's predecessor had.
I had every single guard arrested[sp]in the final mission when you have to leave Blume.[/sp] This is a great use for cops, since the Umeni guards don't tend to resist very often.

This happens in every open world game. You're trying to drive like a normal human being but people will still react like you're nuts
i hate the ekart racing
especially the last one, thank fuck i'm done with it.
Just finished the game, had a lot of fun with it. I love the range of tools the game gives you to just fuck around, I could spend hours just running around in free play doing some online hacking missions or goofing in general. Also, the blackout mass hack and communications disruption mass hack are godsends - using those two helped me bail out of most sticky situations pretty quickly. [sp]They helped the most especially in the final mission when you need to leave Blume, considering the main staircase to get back up to the entrance to end the mission has about 30 guards roaming around. A quick communications hack to run past all of them, and a blackout so they can't follow! Easy.[/sp]

I was struggling with the ekart racing, until I found out that not only can you just cut across the entire track to the next checkpoint and just nobody cares, but also if you have the shift to boost unlocked for vehicles, you can just boost around the track. It's pretty funny how I went from close competition for first to suddenly taking the lead by basically a mile.
Ah yes, I cut every possible corner I could. Didn't know the vehicle boost would apply to the ekarts as well, I might redo them when I get that.
Huh, the boost didn't work for me in the mission-related ekart races.
It worked in the ones that got unlocked later though
note to self: when in pvp, hit and run solves all your problems. also, cops can open locked doors lol.

I always find it funny when I get hacked and I start hunting, then I see a really obvious, badly hidden car in the middle of some grass, or some guy walking really awkwardly like 10 meters away from me
I honestly love the hacking invasions, being both the hacker and the victim. Even though I think the drone can spoil it sometimes, its really fun deploying all my mass hacks at random times to throw the victim off. He starts walking towards the car I'm parked up and hidden in, suddenly there's a blackout and all the cars in the area are driving frantically
also it kinda makes sense guards can open those kinds of locked doors, i suppose they do have the keycard and its not like its "shut down" like it is when you press C on it
also, shooting is a nice trick.

That's pretty much what I've always done on those. If it doesn't penalise me for just straight up killing the guy, why would I bother chasing him around like it's an episode of Tom and Jerry?
One of my favourite things with the online invasions is that if you're being watched by the opposing player with a drone you can ping it to see a line leading right towards the hacker. I posted this video in General Game Media but I love how this invasion went down.

I think my favourite invasion is when I was parked up in a police car (nobody checks the police car for some reason) next to this industrial lot that my target was on.
I sent my drone out, started the hack, called the drone back, and watched him run around the lot that was full of cars trying to find where I was. As he started to get closer to me I triggered a blackout so the entire lot was basically pitch black, causing him to run off because I'm pretty sure the guy had no fuckin clue what was going on. After the power came back up, he came close again, so I made all the cars in the area go haywire causing him to get spooked and run away like an idiot again
Then, as the hack nearly finished, he started chasing this car I was remote-controlling because he thought I was in it, and just as he blew the car up, the download finished. Absolutely hilarious to watch.
I didn't realise you could ping drones to see where they came from, I normally buzz the drone around their heads to fuck with them.
Sniper rifles are good for pvp, I don't normally go after bounties unless they come close to me and on a few occasions I've popped them at 200 yards.
I really enjoy the multiplayer on this, when you're minding your own business and a mark drives straight past you or even better tries to sneak in to the same area as you it's irresistible. Even being on the receiving end is enjoyable, it helps that nothing is lost if you're successfully hacked
