One very strange thing they've done is they've replaced the fleet intelligence from HW2 with voice actor from HW1. It's really weird to hear, I'm not sure what my opinion on it is.
Sounds effects in general are all over the place. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the next patch and if not I fully expect a sound mod as soon as the tools are released.
In Homeworld 1, how am i meant to do the mission where you [sp] destroy all the asteroids?.[/sp] I've tried several different units but [sp] there's so many of them going towards the Mothership, they either go directly into my ships or my ships go right up to the asteroids to attack them, and then get destroyed.[/sp]
Not like it really matters or anything, but i find it weird that when talking about upgrades, Halo CEA is considered a remake, but this is considered a remastered. It's true of HW2, but HW1 is really more of a remake given how much is different, while CEA is more of a remaster given how unaltered the core game is.
You guys up for an 8v8 (or less if need be) today or tomorrow? I'd have enough time to play during US times too, so hopefully people are up for it. I've never actually played an actual online match of HW, but that's because the last time I played any kind oh HW was 4 years ago. Hopefully y'all all up for it.

In terms of gameplay, Homeworld 1 Remaster definitely falls under the Remake category because it's completely different from the original. From an art perspective though, remastering fits perfectly. Homeworld was a very artistic game and having that art redone by (mostly) the same people really does it justice. Whereas the art of Halo 1 was very clearly made by different people with a different vision.

Granted it will be much easier if you have 16+ frigates and a destroyer :v:

Order them to heal the mothership. Use your corvettes, assault and ion frigates to attack the bigger ones on defensive (they will avoid a bit more the rocks). Don't use any formation.
I like playing like this, with the build queue enabled on the side and the UI disabled it kinda reminds me of cataclysm [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742558801341684/29668E7987B8355FF66ECACF4A051C27BF4B2712/[/t] Still, wish it had a unit list but as long as i number my stuff its ok
Prior to 1998, Taiidan were going to be the cannon race. When units were redesigned, they swapped it so the Kushan were the cannon race. It's why Taiidan units have a rougher appearance. With the redesign though, they figured it was a better look for a galactic empire, for reasons of the Taiidan stuff looking more menacing. Before the first patch, half the missions said Kushan for the enemy, regardless of you playing them. Play unpatched Homeworld, in mission 4, Fleet Intel will say Kushan where he should say Taiidan.
IMO the Taiidan still feel more like the good guys than the kushan do in terms of appearance. Taiidan ships are verry rugged and practical whereas kushan ones just don't really make sense as if they realized symmetry doesn't matter in space the thing that gets me though is that the mothership has like 600 or so people on board and it makes it sound like all of the ships are controlled through fleet command as if they're drones. yet the smaller ships have cockpits and in rendered scenes there's bodies floating around in freespace [editline]27th February 2015[/editline]
By 'small things to fix' I meant more the stuff like captured ships changing colors between missions, captured ships sometimes donning the Kushan fleet's coloring or keeping their old, ship balancing being off, etc.
it's weird because this is already an implemented feature. when you use the mariner vessel in HW2R it changes the outward color of the ship it just dominated, but yet in WR1R captured ships retain their colors I'm sure it's easily moddable since it's already implemented
That's the thing, it's not consistent. Sometimes a captured ship keeps its colors, sometimes it takes the color of the exile fleet. And sometimes they change colors/insignia at random between missions, it's really weird.

The Mothership is fucking massive, it surely has thousands of crew even if it might not be fully loaded at the beginning of the game. Plus 600k refugees that can be trained I suppose.
Severely pissed off. Just played the mission in the Great Wasteland, where you are attacked a second time by the Turanic Raiders. I was doing really well, as I had captured all of the enemy Ion Array Frigates. I was in the process of destroying their carrier, when I was suddenly informed that it was retreating and I had to destroy it before it could get away. So I watch as the health bar of the carrier is slowly chipped away... Until it is finally destroyed. Unfortunately, even though the ship was in the process of blowing up, the game had decided that the carrier had escaped into hyperspace (which it hadn't) and I failed the mission.

Halo Wars was fucking awful when it came to those, but yeah I understand the frustration. Timed missions really need some kind of timer, but it doesn't have to be a clock running down on your screen, check out Republic Commando for instance, they did timers really well.
how do you get rid of minefields. Can fighters/corvettes shoot the mines unlike anything that's larger?
The Mothership had most of its flight crew and pilot crews at launch for the hyperdrive test. There was still several thousand people on board. It wasn't fully crewed, but it had plenty of people for the journey. Though at the end, they were desperate for ship crews. Use force fire, anyone can shoot at mines, its just most ships have a low chance to hit. Multiguns are best for it.
how do you get rid of minefields. Can fighters/corvettes shoot the mines unlike anything that's larger?
Aren't Defense Fighters exactly for that? And Defense Field Frigates?
Aren't Defense Fighters exactly for that? And Defense Field Frigates?
both of them refuse to shoot at the mines. I can't even select the mines either. They're placed by a minelayer corvette if that matters anyhow.
Is "Pan Down" broken for anyone else? Whenever i press the key my camera just drops to the bottom of the map. Really annoying. It continues to do so aswell, until the game has been restarted.
Okay is it possible to not lose half your fleet in the asteroid mission? I feel like it was never this fucking annoying in the classic version. The problem seems to be that for some reason the frigates go like a few metres away from the asteroids, so when they blow up and you get that small offtime where it literally doesn't exist and then multiplies, the smaller bits instantly crash into your idiot frigates and blows their retarded asses into fine space dust. God damn [editline]28th February 2015[/editline] Also this happened somehow [t]http://i.imgur.com/MeAdeHk.jpg[/t] (it's campaign) and I have no idea how. Best part is not all my ships have the same colour. Some have the original Kushaan one and some have the Taiidan one. It makes zero fucking sense
Did you change your skirmish color? If you do that it changes your campaign color after a new mission starts. I've used it to change my color like 3 times now.

CPU mode and change it to the preset colors.

But otherwise my fleet was intact and I put no effort into avoiding the asteroids with all my ships. Maybe you just have bad luck?
Would any of you fancy the idea of an FP Homeworld tournament? (if everyone can actually load in :suicide:)
I'd be all up for it if it's during times I can play (IE Fridays and Saturdays mostly) but outside of that I don't think the timezones match very well.
I can't stop taking screenshots this game is such wallpaper material [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742569792678408/6729F27178A412CC7B232CE1BDD80581605E9D0E/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742569792698763/79CFF0512E0409180489E023A82C6B5D3B20A938/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742569792678566/334173311C71D0F40AFD7BF1218D126EACD1ACFD/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742569792690975/755D21BA59650C594CA3074636A37623A2619699/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742569792702284/8B25604859D658D432A51B7D2CE36EEF868D4FCF/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742569792711133/5A8E1A06DE7E53BC24E7E33B66940E8228F62C07/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742569792712140/E9A2190D6CEF62447925E7124CF1B9BDE6EEE668/[/t] Also i can't get enough of salvage corvettes, I've stolen 2 taiidani heavy cruisers and i plan to do even more if i can
I hate the Junkyard mission, that automated drone nicked all of my carriers and two heavy cruisers. Granted I did steal them first, but still :v:
You can salvage them back. The Junkyard Dog will also stop stealing ships after the third to sixth one, because it will get stuck and not know how to move. Then you just kill it with defenders, because for some reason they're the only things that will shoot it.

I really hate how hard it is to see the auto guns.
people talk of a campaign... how do I even get access to that? do I have to finish the tutorials first?
