How much is this being sold for? I want it to be good, but a lot of the footage so far has not been inspiring for me.

A bit expensive I must say, but since a friend gifted it to me, I will tell you if is worth it or not that price.
You know what, fuck it. I'm preordering this. I haven't played a game in a long time where everything wasn't spoiled for me so I'm taking my chances now. I'll keep my expectations low and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.
Played quite a bit of Homeword lately, fun with mods but I wait with Kharak until some reviews are out. Kinda has been quite a lot and the teaser/trailers are pretty vague.
I'm glad to have a new Homeworld game and will probably buy this, but I have to admit that I'm mostly hype for a new Paul Ruskay soundtrack. The song in the latest trailer was amazing.
If you purchase the new game and have HW:Remastered, you will get the Digital Artbook: http://steamcommunity.com/app/244160/discussions/0/494632506577344711/ Also apparently the HW:R devs may be near to get the classic movement (with formations probably) done: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/future-mp-beta-patches/137564/503 Lets hope that means they can finally implement bullet physics.
There's previews by IGN: Don't really want to spoil myself, anybody wants to take a look?
I wasn't too excited about there being a new homeworld only because I figured it'd be kind of a botch job like remastered was since the AI was game breakingly unfun most of the time, especially in the HW1 remake campaign, but it looks like they really focused on making the AI hold their own again I especially love how you can just fire and forget aircraft; just drop an airstrike marker somewhere and they'll automatically move there, check it out, drop ordinance on anyone in the vicinity and go back to rearm. and it's nice to see that essentially every craft is like that since it looks like even scouts can stand on their own two (or four) feet and have the will to survive which is really cool the ign videos are pretty spoiler free. they are mostly just showcasing the scale of the maps and units and what the combat is like, but you'll see that for yourself in two days so you're not missing out on much anyway
20% now or 50% next major sale ... still not decided ... honestly if i knew i get free Remastered with the Deserts of Kharak i would buy them together
you do get remastered for free if you preorder deserts though? agreed though. i'm not going to argue that the game shouldn't be 50 dollars but that's too steep even for me, especially after seeing remastered pretty much die a couple of weeks in
Well it's $50 because it's a complete game and is a real AAA title. It's not going to be a repeat of Remastered since Blackbird will be supporting the game full time. Gearbox only had three months of full time support on remastered and then it was dropped to five people. Blackbird is going to poor everything into this game for at least six months.
Is this going to play out like Ground Control 2? The Co-Op in that game always looked really fun but I never got to play it with anyone. Those units look really neat too anyway, the game looks so pretty too.
I'm also getting serious GC vibes from the gameplay which is a very good thing. If it plays like a fusion of it and Homeworld, I think this could easily become my favourite RTS
Here's a quick look at the main MP mode.
You can pre-load now.
I just started playing homeworld 1, gotta say the mother ship's design is pretty original, nobody makes giant flying space bananas with these giant hatches and all the seriousness. I saw the trailer for the new game and part of me wishes I could pick it up now too because it looks like a command and conquer game but with mobility added and not made by EA who ruined that franchise

And they mix it up by not having shields, unlike virtually every space ship thing ever. Ships survive purely off the strength of their hull. Shields do of course exist, but their power requirements make it impossible to mount on normal vessels. Fun fact, Homeworld was planned to have shields at one point, according to sound files. They were called baffles and would protect the ship against ballistic weapons, and would eventually fail. The mechanic was likely removed and then recycled into the DFG frigate and defense fighter.
ugh i love this series so much
If there is one fault I have with homework is the camera and movement, the movement is solid if you always use m instead of just clicking, but the camera control especially the documentation on what button does what is poorly documented on the guides I looked around for, the default bindings aren't really that good for any of the camera controls
God i am so glad they used those classic UI sounds
ugh i love this series so much
The way everything in all of the games react to commands on a slow, ramping gradient of speed makes me a little nauseous.

Man I wish Sins of a Solar Empire's combat had the same level of depth as Homeworld. Not to mention, its models barely look as good as those from HW1
SSE was enjoyable on its own tho, especially Rebellion.

I have cataclysm right here. The CD from a bit ago. Mint condition
I really love the whole Indian/middle eastern culture aspect to the factions and the music, as well as the Chris Foss style space ships/art and the mystical, Torah like storyline of the game. If the gameplay, story, art style, music and sound hadn't come together so perfectly the way it did, Homeworld could have been fairly forgettable. Instead it's a fucking legendary masterpiece.
That's the thing about Homeworld, it uses historical allusion to support its story rather than to be the story itself and it's very powerful as a result. Also regarding Sins of a Solar Empire, apparently a sequel is on the way from what I've heard so hype for that if you were a fan of the first/expansions.
