I'm sure i saw a mod on workshop that disables it
you are correct, going to test it shortly.
The game's too easy with the scaling difficulty disabled. It just needs the multiplier fixed. Homeworld had difficulty scaling, but it was linear. Homeworld 2's scaling is multiplicative, and counts every ship (including each member of a squadron).
The idea behind the scaling is good, making sure you're always outnumbered, but the execution is really bad, given you're not just outnumbered, you're impossibly outnumbered by it. Balcora gate is the worst, because you can end up fighting over a dozen battlecruisers if you're at fleet cap.
Seems the game will now crash every time you capture an enemy ship that the mission wants you to destroy eg the ion array frigates in the fourth mission
I remember how in HW1:R after the Hyperspace inhibitor mission where I captured almost 40 Ion frigates, at the next mission I was met with a shitton of bombers and destroyers.
I had to reload the previous mission since I had no way to accomplish the objective without ignoring the enemy fleet. It really goes crazy there.
Why does claw formation have a smaller unit cap than others? X, sphere, and a few others formation lets you put enough dudes to be reminiscent of HW1 squadron sizes but claw seems relatively small before it splits them

Or the opposite because when I finally bear it (legitimately I may add) I had to literally self destruct most of my fleet before jumping. All I kept was my like 4 construction ships and so I was able to churn out a fleet while the AI had like 3 tiny bombers and that's it
Holy shit the game feels so good now. HW1RM feels a lot like classic now and Homeworld 2 also feels way better too. This big update was fantastic.
The update is a great step forward, but ship behavior needs some tweaking still. There's some movement bugs regarding formations that cause ships to become stationary and refuse to move until the formation is disbanded.
Ships also still have the problem of running off to engage everything. Even on neutral stance, they'll still move away to help nearby units, often running off to their death. Passive stance, they won't do anything. It'd be nice if they fixed behavior so that ships won't run off and chase down enemy unless they're on aggressive. They just need to fix it so that ships don't move out of position unless they're on aggressive stance or are ordered to. In Homeworld, ships would automatically fire at anything that came in range on neutral stance, but wouldn't move out of position. That behavior needs to be implemented again.
If they can fix that, then this is perfect as a re-release. (Though it will still never quite live up to the original for me)
Does HW1RM have the scaling difficulty? I'm thinking about actually finishing the remaster since the combat is fixed now but if it's in I might just play the original.

I'm currently on the last mission of the game,i can't do it because i've captured so many ships in previous missions that there's far too many enemies.

Difficulty scaling is still in the game. As a Homeworld fan who adored the first game I am extremely biased and will tell you to play the original version if you want the HW1 experience, even if difficulty scaling wasn't in the game.

I've played HW1 many times so it's not a purist experience issue, I just think the difficulty scaling is a horrible concept and very badly executed.
Is there perhaps a mod to nerf or remove the scaling?
I found the last few missions of HW1RM easy despite having a maximum size fleet basically all the time
I failed that one mission first time where there is the secret flanking fleet that travels under the map towards your mothership, but that was basically a one trick pony because the second time around I just met it head on with my blob and wrecked it
I took losses in the junkyard mission but It wasn't that much of a challenge to win. The final mission just involves splitting your blob into two, one blob by your mothership and the other heading to destroy the 3 Heavy Cruisers. And that's not really very difficult if you've got a mixture of heavy ships , support ships and a swarm of lighter ships
I found the earlier missions far worse. The asteroid mission was the hardest in the game for me. Between annoying ship path finding and the delay before you can click rocks it was really painful. The Gardens of Kadesh mission was something I failed first time because I didn't expect the drones would be so powerful and I lost all my small craft. I also got fooled with the mission with the mysterious station that [sp]captures your large ships[/sp] first time as that was something that caught me out but after that the mission is a breeze after you just build a load of small ships. The gas cloud mission involving sending your fleet through the narrow passage was just time consuming.

The main problem i have with the last mission is that i now have so many ships (beyond the maximum you can make yourself) that when they all hyperspace into the map, i have just one huge line of ships that can't all move together fast enough for me to do anything. Is there a way to solve that?
Don't stray far from the mothership. Let them come close to it, then close in. You can have fighters go ahead and start attacking as soon as the enemy hyperspaces in, but keep your capital ships close to the Mothership.

My entire fleet is one huge line that can't get there in time to defend it, as it gets attacked right away by a large amount of ion cannon frigates which it doesn't last long against at all. Is there a way to get it so my ships don't all hyperspace in as one big line?
