that song kind of fits in for sure. you can just see the homeworld skyboxes when you hear that ambience homeworld to me has always been "arab space game" though because a lot of the songs have that sitar sounding stuff going on
I was bored of waiting, so I downloaded both Homeworld: Raider Retreat (remember that it was released for free) and the Homeworld 2 demo. Pick Raider Retreat instead of the HW1 demo, because you have the first four missions of the campaign (plus the cut Raider Retreat chapter), more options (only a little bit) at the skirmish with the CPU, multiplayer (never tested this one, imagine if even it continues working with Hamachi the LAN mode) and of course, the credits. Both games run fine in Win 7 64 bits. The only problem you may have is with HW2 and the camera not moving. If that happens, enable VSYNC at options. *I could also go and install the HW:C demo, but is not the same without the beast...*
I hope they got to use the Yes song again
Played a LAN match of homeworld 1 with a friend, he tried to attack me with a massive fleet and i deployed a bunch of gravity wells and immobilized all of them while my frigates picked them off. I really wish i played more MP of this game. Also i just dug up my cataclysm CD

I broke my policy against pre-ordering, mainly based off Total biscuit's livestream. I swear Gearbox better not make me regret it
even though the review embargo has been lifted or whatever there hasn't been a lot of chatter about the game or even footage. i wonder why
No idea, i hope it turns out good Here's a pretty interesting podcast with some of the HW: Cataclsym devs talking about the game Apparently they would be willing to help too in regards to redoing cataclysm
It's because...
what a strange system, but you can't do a lot about it as reviewer.
It makes perfect sense "Hey this is for you guys to write previews for and isn't representative of the release build. Talk about it all you want so long as you keep that in mind." "Hey this is the reviews. We don't want reviews coming out until date X. Do not talk about it until date X."

Apparently there's also still uncompressed art assets floating around, it's just that Rockstar didn't care for any of the Barking Dog backups and locked the room and that's the last thing anyone's heard about it. A Cataclysm remake based on Remastered Edition sales certainly sounds much more possible than "no sourcecode no dice" or "there might be some clever things we might be able to do", and it makes a lot of sense that having the devs on board to recreate features they painstakingly crafted back in the day is gonna make for a more reliable port than people unfamiliar with the project trying to make sense of someone else's code jungle. Wouldn't want another programmer to go almost blind because he's trying to implement a docking feature for resource collectors and other people keep messing up his code in the most unexected ways. What an anecdote that was.
I'm beginning to be afraid I can't afford this yet, and I don't know when I can. Oh god I waited too long for this fuck

Don't make me regret this Gearbox.

I heard a lot of battle chatter
Don't make me regret this Gearbox.
You could've just waited 2 days
You could've just waited 2 days
SHUT THE FUCK UP. Don't you judge me!
You could've just waited 2 days
but then you don't save six dolla
You could've just waited 2 days
If it wasn't for the 15% off i'd just wait, i want the game but can't decide what to do. I don't like that they're basically saying "Give us your money without having any idea if the game is good, and by the time you do it will be too late to change your mind" but if it turns out to be good it'll be 15% more expensive.
That's exactly why it is 15% off...
I don't really wanna preorder, but on the other hand preorder numbers matter a lot to publishers these days, and that could really matter for Homeworld going forth. urgh.
I haven't pre-ordered yet but the main thing i keep thinking for pro-preorder is basically -It's homeworld and they have some of relic on board, how bad could they possibly fuck up something as simple as remaster if anything, this particular thing seems almost like it could be a "good will" PR stunt to lessen some of the hate they got from DNF and ACM I'll probably end up pre-ordering 10 minutes before the sale stops just because it's homeworld and i want to support anything related to homeworld because i love homeworld, i have portable versions of HW1 and cataclysm on my flash drive
I'm just waiting for TotalBiscuits video tomorrow. I'll buy it if he has nothing crazy bad to say about it.
I am very interested in this game, I never played the original Homeworlds. I will probably pick it up once the multiplayer is out of beta, and confirmed to not be broken.
[del]Turns out remastered's release falls right on the week I have no proper internet. Fukken WELP[/del] Internet technicians have timing of the gods.
Has there been any mention about whether Remastered is multithreaded? The original Homeworld 2 would slow down pretty hard with large fleets.
I'm just waiting for TotalBiscuits video tomorrow. For better or worse, he's pretty ignorant of the changes between Homeworld and the Remastered port, so if you have no super special feelings over the original Homeworld then he'll probably be a good barometer.
Has there been any mention about whether Remastered is multithreaded? Gearbox has more than once bought the rights to something and then just released it with minimal work put into it. Then again there's no way they could have done what they're doing with the visuals without changing the engine, so there's still hope
It's listed as a multicore game, so presumably it has multithreading. Just over a day and a half to go now. Time to start making preparations for the all day stream of it.
